  • I really don't think its you , pal, but the aged condition of the machine you are operating. I visited a cousin in Mpls, and tried to ride the Norton bike we used in the 60s.. it wouldn't go very fast and we both fell off.. we are a little weightier altho, after 40 + years...he still has the bike! cheers! thanks for sharing..

  • Hello There geriatric1927 you did fine while riding your grandsons bike ! .... I have seen people 20 years old ride worse then that ! ..... GOOD JOB ! and keep it up :)

  • I won't pretend I understand or care about the mechanical stuff. I just wanted to comment that I was quite impressed by you and your mate's balance on that contraption, especially at such a slow speed! I'd have tumbled over like I had rocks in my pocket. Haha!

  • You are so awesome! Keep doing what you do and no, your topics are not stupid. Instead, they're just amazing things that other Youtubers usually don't touch upon. Greetings from Canada!

  • You have all of my respect! Best wishes from England!

  • you look like you're riding the bike well, mate. I didn't see you fall off or anything.

  • I HOPE YOU NEVERRRRRRR DIE

  • Please don't call this a "stupid topic"! There is so much young people can learn from older people if they would just listen. Videos like yours are a great way to make them pay attention! :D

  • I hope I can still get on and ride a motorcycle when I'm your age. I think you did well to ride it. Take care. Rich

  • You're the best, sir. Keep on keepin' on. You look great for your age. :-)

  • Beeing old may not be fun, but it's no reason to coffin yourself. The game is over not until the referee blows the whistle. But regarding to road traffic, I think it's better to know the signs of time and to be rational. The abilty to see, hear and react gets weaker by the time. That's a fact. I think I would leave my pride behind and give up my driver's licence by myself.

    No offence meant!

    Best wishes from Germany!

  • Peter, I'm about a year older than you are, so I certainly know what you're talking about. I never had a motorcycle because I have always been afraid of them. No protection in case of an accident. I remember riding my bicycle so hard that my legs would ache. But I loved the speed. Today, I don;t even like to sit on the one I still have. My med problems a a slow parastalsis and morning depression. But I just fight it off and carry on. George in Minnesota

  • Two of my friends said they didn't wanna live past 60. Actually three said that. Ageing is a scary process and they believed when you couldn't do things you did at a young age, your life quality would be discounted. I'm in my late 20s and already feel exhausted all the time. I seriously need your outlook and spirit granddad.

  • I'm close to 61, and realize there are many physical things i could do at 20 but wouldn't even consider attempting now. But to me, the part of aging that becomes more and more difficult for me is the los of dear relatives and friends.

  • Your advice and motorcycle skills are both sound, perhaps just a bit rusty from lack of applying them. :)

You blessed your grandson with memories by including him on your visit and blessed your viewers by filming it. Thank you!

  • Mr. Geriatric, I have a question for you. Since your from a generation when laws on firearm ownership were much laxer in the UK, what are your views on gun ownership and use? Do you think that there are legitimate reasons for a common person to own firearms? Furthermore, what are your views on hunting in general and the banning of hunting foxes with hounds?

  • I would just like to say that i am a 15 year old girl, and you may wonder why i would be subscribed o your channel. Here is my reason: My grandmother lived with me until she passed away the the age of 85 only 2 years ago. I was able to watch her live, and even as an older person she was very lively. You remind me of her because you try stay active and involved in life. Thank you. Keep living.

  • Well, you ride a motorcycle much better than I since I don't ride at all. My husband tried to teach me when we were younger, but I was too scared of the thing. I'll stick to horses.

  • Hello i'm a new viewer of yours. May i suggest making a video of your motorcycling history. Apologies if you have already done so. :)

  • good videos 5****

  • I think it's amazing how you're on the internet. Such an inspiration. Much respect!

  • you're one cool grandad <3

  • Well considering I'm at the ripe age of 20 and haven't rode a motorbike, I think we can safely say that you're having more fun than me :D.

  • @JADsGames you're an idiot

  • @kapakas Perhaps I asked wrong. I'm just concerned. I like this guy, so I just wanted to know if he was still in good health. What I really meant to ask was if he was really sick or not. My mistake, and my apologies.

  • @JADsGames How the hell can you ASK that... thats out of order

  • @Walk792Q It came out wrong dude. I was just worried. I should have asked "Are you ill", but, like I said, it came out wrong. I'm sorry.

  • Peter, how come your grandson had to drive you? Were you tired, or are you in a condition where you can no longer drive? This is a serious question, by the way, not one to be mean.

  • @geriatric1927 Like if someone broke into your house, or if you fell down? My older brother has one of those, might not be the same type as yours, but, it has the same function.

  • Peter...u mention near the end of the video....something to the effect of posting a video of another stupid topic.....I for one have never considered what you have ever posted to be "stupid" or whatever in anyway shape of form... I have enjoyed your input and views on whatever your choose to put in your videos and THANK YOU again for your great contribution to this site. Keith

  • Great video! You're doing better than I would.

  • Peter, here I am at 54 in the prime of life in some ways, but I have never DRIVEN a motorcycle (only bee taken along behind)....that puts you beyond me and I thought you did very well.

I'm VERY impressed by your dynamism tempered with gentility and I wish you many more great years. Keep walking every day, keep eating great food.

    Love Jennie

  • Valentino Rossi you may not be, but you still did well. What am I saying, he broke his leg recently, at least you are in one piece (well almost!).

How many 80+ year olds have done or do as much as you do? Start to realise that you are amazing, just not as agile as you once was, so what!

  • Peter: I rather thought you did well, but of course that my opinion. Now at age 71, I am learning to settle for less. I do not do so much now that was prevalent in my life in my younger days but then I have discovered other outlets that bring joy. Life in Nebraska is good. Your videos continue to be a joy to view, your thoughts and ideas always interesting. Be well.

  • Well, Peter, it doesn't mean we don't love you any less. Tell you grandson to take very good care of his grandfather.

  • Peter, you're an inspiration to us all. Your wisdom echoes all over the internet now for the benefit of people my age, and those also younger and older. We respect you dearly, Sir!

  • I think you're amazing!! My boyfriend has a motorbike and I'm too much of a scardey-cat to try and ride it by myself!! You ROCK!!! xxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Usualy when i talk to a person that's more "developed" in years, they allways say that they regret the time when they where young.

I allways reply them "Every stage of life has it's beauty". Enjoy what you have now (grandson, to see your kid a grown up man etc.). We (the young folk) don't have that :)

  • @texmanro

I like that quote that you used: "Every state of life has its beauty".

I'm going to start doing that, it's definitely a good perspective to have on life.

  • What is the medallion you are wearing?

  • @HappyCamper999

my grandmother has the same button. it's a very good thing for older people who live alone and maybe need help in a dangerous moment.

  • peter my man.. it is what it is..i am 42 and cant do the things i once used to..and i am aware of that also..and it sucks..but oh well. we find other things to do..dont we...!!!

and dont stop getting on bikes and riding them..just put on a helmet ..lol

    you're a fantastic energetic lad. usa 1..england 1..sorry,,, had to mention that...lol

  • It didn't look that bad to me. A couple of wobbles and, after all, you didn't actually hit anything!

  • Peter...is it true that back in 1969, you were slated to star in the American biker movie "Easy Rider" until Dennis Hopper stole the part from you? The way you are with that bike, you would have fit right in that film. Good job, sir.

  • really love the sound of a two stroke!

  • Sir Peter, Whether you realize it or not you have a great impact on young and old alike. I have met you through your very first video which seems like it was years ago. I still visit now and then and it's a great joy to see you in great shape and spirit. Take care of yourself!

  • My Grandmother always said, 'it's no fun growing old.'

I always love your videos. And, you're totally right about not worrying about things you can't control.

God bless you good sir! You're still sharp as a tack!

    Please keep making these videos.

Also, you're friend can ride a motor-bike. But, he surly can't make videos that get thousands of views in a matter of days. Heck, I'm 29 yrs. old and can't accomplish that feat!

  • i just came to the part, where you ride the bikes. peter, you dont look at all like being born in 1927 - youre so active in physical and in your mind. youre an idol!

  • thank you, peter! i spent a lot of my thinking on ageing. im kind of sad of it... but i eventually realized that we all have the same in our lifes. everyone has one youth and one oldage. we all dont miss out of anything.

and peter, to me youre still the young man youre used to be and you surely feel inside. its just more interesting to listen to you today ;)

  • Sorry Peter - I really don't see too much of a prob here. Your riding seems fine - maybe not to your own exacting standards but to most others it's really very good:)

  • @MojoTube2010 Mate what is your problem?

  • I saw a guy on T.V sky diving at 97 years old, it's all a mind set my friend!

  • I thought you were going to pop a wheely at one pint. You certainly ride better than I could.

  • I understand. At the age twenty-nine I was rendered a quadriplegic from an auto accident. Confined to a wheelchair has been a crisis all my life. I am fifty-six and most of the best years have passed. But I keep going...

  • I would never DARE to do such a thing, and you just RIDE IT! Mind you, I am just 36yrs of age! Dear Sir, you are such an example to us all and I think your view on getting older is vital information to everybody. Thanx for charing and LOVE from Amsterdam!!!!

  • I wander if this man realizes that he gives the rest of us hope to keep going.

  • Oohh Peter,I had my heart in my mouth, and feet off the floor lol, when you sped off....but you did it YAYYY.I dont often comment, but watch your vids, for your soothing voice and stories, you are wonderful....btw I too have balance probs,5 hip replacements and arthritis spreading, and Im 48,its gets to us all,so I understand what you mean...bit like "the mind is willing, but the body's weak"....Take care my friend...*hugs*...x

  • you seemed to ride well. :)

thanks for the wisdom, really makes me appreciate the little things.

  • This is one huge hug sent from U.S. ((((((((((((((((((((geriatric1927)))))))))))))))))

If it is any consolation...you have done more in your life that many people much much younger than yourself will never accomplish, unfortunately. You're a wonderful man and I look forward to watching your videos each and every day when I am able .

  • Great fun. I also quit riding after a couple of spills. Landing in a swamp was the final straw.

  • very much enjoyed the video Peter, your looking in great knick and you can ride a bike a hell of alot better than I can and I'm 24.

  • I'm 18 and you are riding them bikes better than I ever could!!

Keep it up Peter. Brilliant Video

  • Hello Peter! Again another great video! Keep up the good work and keep them coming! :0)

  • You actually still look pretty good on that motorbike! But I know what you mean. I am in my forties and I already am noticing I can´t do some of the things I liked to do when I was 20. But I can also do new things that require the patience I didn´t have when I was 20.

  • You had me worried - WHAT 'tragic result' ? It looked pretty good to me Peter. Keep up the good work!

  • Awesome bikes.

  • Comment removed

  • "some other stupid subject?" Peter, you would have to stay up later and get up earlier to have time to come up with a stupid subject.

I thought you looked pretty good on the bike! Okay, maybe not Peter Fonda, but you looked good! Please forgive my inner parent for coming out, but noticed this was the first time you have ridden without a helmet???

  • cheers peter

  • I am somewhat confused myself. It appeared as if you were riding just fine. i think riding on a lawn or dirt is always more difficult that riding on the pavement. Both bikes are older bikes and more difficult. A newer bike would be a breeze for you to ride.

  • I don't know what in the world you are talking about,Peter! You looked terrific on that bike. If I were there I would climb on behind you and hang on for dear life singing "Born to be wild!"

  • Fair play to ya, Peter, you're still full of get up and go! Lovely to see you riding a motorbike - we should all take note, and not be afraid we're too old to do things like that.

  • My dad, who would have been about your age, used to say that you work with the tools you're given. The tools may diminish over time, but you just have to choose from what's left to make it work.. You may not be able to ride full out any more, but you're still riding. Keep your head up.

  • Looked ok on the yammy old chum, you worry too much

  • Why do you feel you can't ride it? You looked fine to me.

  • Please Wear A Helmet Next Time :o)

  • Peter, focus on the things you CAN do. You are a bright ray of sunshine to a lot of us 'fans'. Keep up the good work. Sending love from America. xoxo

  • I think crying on the things you cant do is limiting time for you to find the things you can do.

  • While you might not feel the same as you once did on a bike, you look quite the part still. No need to be so down!

  • I don't know what you're talking about -- you looked smashing riding those bikes to me!

  • That looks so fun!

  • Amen

  • Peter, you are a joy to watch, listen to, and learn from.

  • Very nice! Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us :)

  • Nice going!

  • Lovely to see you having a ride :-)

  • 8:55 AND HES OFF!

  • You did a wonderful job Peter. what wonderful bikes, However i must contradict you somewhat regarding science not dealing with the problem of old age. There have been great leaps forward from the University of Bath and a British company only a few years old has taken the bull by the horns so to speak. Have a look at the video on the webpage "healthmattersuk.co.uk" and you will see why people like myself and Dame Judy Dench are much more active and healthy than usual. Kindest regards Derek

  • You did a good job riding. You looked a little rusty but overall you seemed to be doing OK. You may not be able to stand up to do the real dirt stuff but you can still ride. I've been a street bike rider for at least 40 years and plan to keep riding as long as I'm able. Once a biker always a biker.

  • Hi, very nice video! It was awesome to see you riding those motorcycles :) I could see your excitement. My father is also a motorcycle lover, and he's turning 60 this year, having motorcycles for about 35 years. He always says he has 2 daughters, his motorcycle, and me, of course. Today, my mother tries to convince him that his time for riding has already gone, that he's too old for it, but he says he'll only give it up when he turns blind, and so far he doesn't wear glasses at all :) Take care

  • You did a good job riding the motor bikes even though you may have felt you struggled.

The first Bike looked a beautiful machine.

  • The passing of time brings changes along - believe me, even at the age of 45, I am aware of that. It was stunning for me to see you ride those motorbikes, whereas you may say that it was just a pale reflection of old times, when you were doing cross country riding and all. Yes, that may be so - but on the other hand, with things that one can't do any more, or not as good as before, there may be new things coming up. And your YouTube presence being one of those, is so precious for us all!

  • cheers Peter! Glad to see you got to take a little spin for old times sake

  • When I grow up, I wanna be like you guys :]

  • This is cool~ An old man on a motorbike :D

  • You did good for such the long while in between Peter. Just remember, TURN your head to TURN yourself. Your body will instinctively want to turn where you are looking, then let your arms gently push it in. It's hard to do after not doing it for so long, you almost have to learn all over again. I felt the same skiddish feelings after not doing it for 5 years.

  • you are an inspiration to me. all age aside, many of us can be inspired to work past our limitations and live a fuller life with good hearted examples as this vid

  • You're fantastic! :')

  • Hi Peter, I think you did a very good job riding the bike. My Grandad is 78 and would love to be able to have the opportunity to do that.

  • mate ur ah legend!!take care and be safe!!

  • Wonderful job on the bike Peter!

I hope that when I get up in age, I can still do exciting things like this!

  • GO PETER!!!!!!

    Love you my friend!

    Michael

  • Hey Peter,

so as soon as your buddy there gets to know the internet and youtube and get's to assamble a few 1 or 2 subscribers you're even, right?

you don't give up on the motorcycling and be good, right?

thanks for not beeing zynicle. all the best,

    me

  • Heh, I was just cruising the roads on a new Honda Interceptor, and I know how you feel about losing the ability to ride, I absolutely dread the day I'm going to have to stop riding.

  • Wonderful video Peter! You did a great job on riding those motorbikes!

  • come on now Pete, you should have launched that bike back at us at a good 55mph screaming the engine. Just bang some protective gear on and give it a bloody good caning!

  • You did great in the bike man!

  • I tried out my first bike last week. Its not as easy as it looks. I think its great you are able to ride, even if its just sitting down.

  • So what if you can't stand up and do other tricks? What you can still do is just like riding a bike :)

  • I'm 23 and I highly doubt I would be able to ride a motorcycle half as well as you did in this video, seriously! The end result would most certainly be tragic, lol.

  • Wow. You're just so lovely.

  • You looked great on both bikes! It made me smile.

  • I think you are having us on, Peter. You rode those bikes with a lot more skill than I have seen our local 16 year olds exhibit. I don't think you have lost your touch.

  • thanks for the frank advise

  • I think you need a few things to cheer you up!

    1. You inspire so many and make so many people smile.

    2. You CAN ride a motorbike, cos if that wasn't riding a motorbike, I don't know what is! :P

    3. You really are the most admirable person on youtube Peter.

    4. And as "IWantLandingSnow" put it. You'll always be our internet Grandad.! :)

  • I don't understand why this was a "tragic" result Peter. Looked to me like you could handle the bike sitting in the saddle just fine. I don't understand about standing up on a motorcycle. And also, I think it is perfectly okay to spend a little time grieving for any losses in our lives. Granted you don't want to wallow in and get stuck, but it's not a waste of time to honor those losses and feel sad about them. Great video!

  • I think you rode that bike like any 30 year old would have! Very impressive!!

  • Thank you for sharing your life with us Peter!

  • Another great video! I really enjoy all of the knowledge that you have to pass down.

    P.S. Great Riding!

  • Hi! I donno what you meant by not being able to ride any more. You rode up and down that street really well.

  • I see you are wearing a medic alert necklace. I hope you are ok.

  • dont worry as least you can still get on the saddle and ride the bike a little than not being able to do it at all

  • You'll always be our Internet Grandad (: x

  • @IWantLandingSnow Yes I agree, very nice sentiment

  • I'm so sorry, Peter. Even at my age of 49, I feel the pain of facing things I can no longer do. My father never got to grow old. He died at 57. My mom is your age but suffers from Alzheimer's and will never know the joy of connecting with people via technology as you do. The sharing you do makes us all more human.

  • Agree and only agree.

  • Great vid Peter :))

  • Maybe you can tell some good things about getting old. I am kind of depressed right now :/

  • You have more knowledge to pass down to the youth ;)

  • Peter,

It’s great to see you in the saddle. You bring such joy and inspiration to so many of us the world over and I hate to see you sad.

Be positive, feel better soon, and thank you for everything you bring to our lives.

  • my motto concerning my bike is ride or die. I like your vids and I like the motor bike and your friend is braver then me. I want a motor bike but I don't want to do a Bella.

  • I'm not very educated when it comes to riding motorcycles, but why can't he ride it? He was doing just fine, so why does he have to stand up?

  • lol i accidently read the title as Problems OF gagging

  • @erdal0 indeed-a topic that needs urgent addressing =P

  • The sound on that bike .. such a nice oldtimer :]

  • I guess you either age or die young. It's kind of disheartening. I'd probably prefer to grow old, so I'll have more life experience. I guess you have to try to get in as much as possible. I'm at an age that's considered "the prime of life" or something like that, and I wonder what I should do to take full advantage of my youth.

Also, off subject, that motorcycle is really nice, very different from today's stock. I want one now. (Maybe I'll put an 49cc engine on my bicycle one day.)

  • I really love & respect ur maturity in addressing/confronting the reality of this. U realize it was a waste of emotional energy to regret/ponder on it too long, but the reality is that it is humanly natural that we feel strongly about certain things. So u've taken ur moment to dealt with it--good & bad-- & moved on. Some of the key is to do so without draining our *new* memories of *new* experiences that we can now appreciate as we grow wiser. I think u've got that down pretty well too ;)

  • peter, im 32 and currently learning to ride a moterbike, if i was half as good as that id be chuffed, your gettin on but still so full of life. fair play to you sir!

  • you did alright. i have never ridden a motor bike, or push bike or driven a car. my parents would not let me, so i never had the nerve to try

  • Im sixteen and you rode that motorcycle better than I ever could, man.

Watching these videos make me really happy, and the first time I ride a motorbike, its gonna be for you! :D

  • A real grandad.

  • It seems like you were able to ride fine, to the untrained eye.

  • there is an 89 year old woman that goes to my local ymca, she goes in the mornings and swims... of course she doesnt swim in the fast lane lol but she seems to have very minimal trouble with mobility

  • you look like you were riding it just fine to me! lots of other people are saying the same thing too... I think youre being a bit too cynical....

  • Of course we all have to slow down as we age but i'm going to take very good care of my body my whole life, so that i can still be active until the day i die!

you seem like you have a lot of emotional energy geriatric, maybe you could channel it into physical energy??

  • I was expecting you to not be able to ride a motorcycle from your description. You may not be able to stand up on it, but it sure looked like you were able to ride it.

  • cutest grandpa ever! we want to see your grandkids :D

  • No helmets, tsk,tsk,tsk.

  • Ah man I hope I am like you when I get your age :)

  • that was such a nice and sad video at the same time. it reminded me of my late great-granny. she died at the age of 96, 4.5 years ago. i miss her every day. but she would still do gardening, "run" about, push around a wheel barrow, shower and take care of herself on her own up to her very last month. i think your friend and you did great on the motorbike. i'm 21 and am not able to ride one because i don't know how, so kuddos to you! much love from switzerland and thanks again for sharing. mary

  • well, you weren't exactly popping wheelies all over the place but you looked like you knew what you were doing... nice video as always...

  • You are amazing at riding a bike. You have still got it in you.

  • My heart goes out to you Peter because as you know we share a love of motorcycles. I know that one day in the future (hopefully down the road quite a while) that my day will come too where I won't be able to ride any longer. Wow, that is a really neat bike that you show here. Is that a two-stroke? You looked great on it!! Looked like you were doing just fine!

  • looks like you can ride a motorcycle just fine to me.. didn't you enjoy it?!

  • Nice one Peter, Thank's.

  • Thank You for the video reminding me of something I already know inside but forget to appreciate, my youth and the ability to still do what I love. Just had a birthday a couple days ago and was down about it, but I wont waste time on that now <3<3 Thank you and Bless you!

  • OH you did quite well. I thought you meant you were going to take a tumble. Don't think ramps are in your furture, but again..."ya done good." I was somewhat worried when that tree jumped out in front of you. Ya just can't trust some trees. Wasn't it fun to get out and do some of the old stuff!!

There are Brits on TV here in Florida all the time these days. They are with BP. OK I'll leave it at that. ahaahhha

  • Well it looked like you did really good on that ride to me. I think you look great,

have a great frame of mind and you still get around well from what I can see. I hope my husband and I are as in good shape as you when we get to your age.

    I really do admire you!

I think showing interest in new things and helping other people along with being as active as you can be keeps you younger than someone who is a couch potatoe. You really are a cool hip guy Peter.

    Hugs

    Lauren:)

  • once you got it ya don't lose it Pete

most would be off riding that slow anyone can ride a bike fast

  • BRAVO !!!

    Saint Peter RIDES again!

  • aw this was a cute little video :)

  • Looks to me as if you still got it!

  • I love the sound that bike makes!
