Conspiracy theories (CT) is not something new. The CT's are doing the same thing that the religious prophets did thousands of years ago. And what was that? To fixate peoples expectations of reality and make people believe that you have to obey your laws or else God is gonna get you. CT's work in a similar way, it fixates peoples expectations and divides between the "sane" and the "paranoid", between sane media and the prophets in the wilderness. Todays CT's will be the religions of the future.

It is said to have been derived from other cultures especially the Vedas & Egyptians which go back much further than that. the 2012 prediction is based on the Maya baktun cycle with the Venus cycle mixed in theoretically it occurs every 394.25 years.
What end? It marks the end of the 13th baktun & the beginning of the 14th. LOL!!

you've obviously never heard of Hoya de Cyrenne. It was an ancient Mayan city covered in volcanic ash in El Salvador. The city was uncovered & there were absolutely no bodies found. it wasn't hard to know why. The Mayan prophets predicted it would happen & the residents vacated the city before it was destroyed. not like Pompeii where they had no warning at all.

You are wrong about the Mayan calendar origin. Also called the Tzolk'in was dated back to 1200 BC. It is said to have been derived from other cultures especially the Vedas & Egyptians which go back much further than that. the 2012 prediction is based on the Maya baktun cycle with the Venus cycle mixed in theoretically it occurs every 394.25 years.
What end? It marks the end of the 13th baktun & the beginning of the 14th. LOL!!

Well it's not plausible, the city was unearthed near the base of a mountain (I actually visited the site & learned it's history from an on site archeologist). They would not have had much time to evacuate once the volcano activity started & even if they did they did not have the technology to get far enough from the explosion & molten lava flow which would have wiped them out even if they left a few days before. The history says they made it
to a nearby temple society & became worshipers.

No 2012 will trigger something bad, it just won't result in the end but a global catastrophe is believable... all the worlds governments are preparing for it but a few - those would be idiots.
Y2K - didn't result in a catastrophe but it did result in a lot of fear & when the fear was gone it caused COMPLACENCY & was only 1 & 1/2 years later that 9/11 happened & it hit everybody like a "thief in the night!"

well, actually, things did happen because of the date oversight and if there hadn't been a lot of work done to check critical systems they very well could have started failing too. Would that have been the end of civilization? Highly doubtful. But could have been really inconvenient. Its kind of like saying that a car manufacturer who recalls cars before anyone gets injured did it for no reason. Y2K had a demonstrable reason for concern, 2012 on the other hand is a bunch of new age bullshit.

That's only according to what we've discovered so far... they said, some sort of SOPHISTICATED (possible alien - possible ancient math) binary code that centers around the 2 numbers 1 & 12 - The beginning & The end.
It's easy to insult the philosophers but it's not easy to dismiss one who has a DEGREE in computer science & another in computer administration - the discovery came from just that sort.

Actually, what is interesting is that the most efficient number-system would be a code based off of e (or 2.718281828...), unfortunately that is not possible in real terms since you cannot have fractions for code. Binary and Tertiary are relatively the same in efficiency but I suppose binary is easier for people to use because they have one less number to remember.
