I think the emphasis was to try and always make Martin more of a "regular American Joe". Thus, all his girlfriends were typically loud, brash and somewhat crass (e.g. Sherry, Ronnie, the chick Niles didn't like) to support that. I never felt this suited Martin, in that he always seemed like a "regular Joe" but with a touch of old-fashioned class. Which is why he wud've been far more suited to Cora than any of his other g/f. Too bad they didn't make it happen.

I am AMAZED that Daphne puts up with that kind of treatment from frasier, so many employers out there in the working world think its perfectly acceptable behavior, just because you are in a leadership role does not mean you get a licence to stop treating people with respect and common courtesy.. in my eyes thats incompetency and lack of intelligence...good thing they are like family and she doesnt take him seriously.
