  • exilent quality right around 4750Hz response..nice work

  • I have that same exact turntable! I love it, especially with the awesome speakers I got to compliment the turntable. Only being 19 years old, I'm currently just beginning with my vinyl record collection. Long live vinyl! :D

  • Dude, this is excellent. You should upload an "On The Wing" vinyl video.

  • whats so special about having a track on vinyl ? i buy 4 12" singles a week minimum. and for the love of god, buy a technics turntable... wtf is that shit ?

  • That my friend, is a crap turntable. Buy one used from the flea market or yard sale please. That type of cheap "turntable" makes me sick...

  • AWESOME!!! soooo amazing. I fell in love with phonographs years ago.

  • Does the Vinyl for this come with 2 ? Or is there just one disk? :) Sounds really great btw.

  • @Felkara13 it comes with 2. one clear blue, and one solid white. yea the sound is really crisp! i love it

  • Do you need a home theater system or can you directly play it from the computer (without recording, you know, just for playing purpose)?

  • @pranaavsrest yes it will play thru the computer via usb with Audacity software. altho, when I just want to listen to my music, I use a converter cable to hookup my computer speakers. it has usb, and red/white output built in.

  • @mbarry6 Awesome!! what kind of converter cable do I have to get? I have the exact same Ion Profile Pro I recently got for Christmas but I dont have a home theater system only sub-woofers that are connected to my laptop.

  • @pranaavsrest the proper name for the cable is "rca female to 3.5mm female". search that in google images. you can get them at places like radio shack.

  • We got the same record player!:D

  • this song sounds good on all media records cd mp3 even a 8 track this song is a song for the ages it is trully a legendary song that will be rememebred forever more

  • As the earth turns slowly...

  • @SuperAmberjade USB. its a direct link from the usb turntable to the computer.

  • as amazing as Owl City is, he sounds even better on vinyl!! (actually I think everything does...)

  • DONT PINCH THE EDGES of your records. and good god dont buy a USB turntable, even if you're just beginning with vinyl.

  • @bendingsyllables my bad lol it was because I was holding the camera that I had to handle it that way. otherwise I never touch the surface. I'm definitely not a beginner either. check out some of my other videos, I can make records. :)

  • @bendingsyllables why not get a USB turntable?

  • @bendingsyllables i don't have a USB but why

  • @bendingsyllables Yes! Bought a USB sony turntable and sounds awful through a USB connection. Line in through a sound blaster boosts performance 200%

  • vinyl... so much more elegant than our current digital systems... (and that's coming from a member of the digital generation)

  • @angryzor i agree - altho i have never owned a record or player - i would love to - dads got shit loads of them up in the loft - just need to find the record player he keeps banning on about that he owns

  • can you dj with this?

  • @mbarry6 Thanks! I'm heartset on an audiotechnica. It'll set me back about 200, but I haven't heard anything bad about it.

  • @MisterMcFisher AudioTechnica turntables are very good. The sound quality is great and they are very well built. You will not be disappointed. =)

  • @mbarry6 Are you doing a direct record? Also; shopping for a turntable, what do you think of that ion?

  • @MisterMcFisher yep. it is a USB turntable that you plug into your computer and can record the audio from audacity or any other audio editing software. The ION is a great turntable! it plays 33 and 45 rpm records, sounds great and is easy to record from.

  • I having a suspicion on fakeness why would n the owl city Itunes ad appear under the like dislike bar, It wouldn't if you were just playing the sounds and recording them....

  • @Dandadudemedia the adds find relative material based on what it can read from the page. It probably say the title of the video and found an iTunes add. a quick google search of "owl city vinyl" would tell you this is real. lol

  • @mbarry6 Sorry I saw other vids had it too, I tried to delete the comment then pc crashed ^_^ also where can you buy vinyls of modern albums?

  • @Dandadudemedia lol well Hastings stores sometimes has new and old vinyl. I got this one off of ebay tho.

  • @mbarry6 Hastings the town in the uk or is this somewhere in the us of a

  • @Dandadudemedia Im not sure if it is outside the US or not, but I live in the US.

  • @mbarry6 I was thnkin of a place called hastings in south east england.... so nope

  • that cartride will ruin ur record

  • not bad for a song made with Reason and Protools ^^ the vinyl pressing sound realy good ^^.

  • where did u get this

  • @MrMobsta55 eBay :)

  • I usually hate new music like this, but for some reason I think if I heard it on vinyl, I'd love it.

  • hiiiiiiiiii mason! nice to see you still doing stuff!

  • @lovesbela hey! :) yea, I still make record videos here n there.

  • does it have 2 vinyl???

  • @ivancarlo01 yep. one white disk and one clear blue

  • @mbarry6 is it just like a copy??? thanks:)

  • @ivancarlo01 no, one disk holds half of the songs and the other holds the other half. :)

  • Are there any track gaps on the disk? Can't see clearly because of low video resolution and transparent disk :)

  • @szaby33 i guess there is because the is a short pause between the songs.

  • will any gramophone play any vinyl disk? or are there different sorts?

    Thanks!)

  • @DrDimk0o the cylinder ones of course will not work with vinyl disks, but all vinyl disks will play on any gramophone vinyl disk player.

  • I have to get my hands on this vinyl. Looks pretty cool since it's blue. I bought the rare Record Store Day clear vinyl on Amazon before for only 2 dollars that has 2 unreleased versions of Fireflies and Vanilla Twilight. I would have got this already if I wasn't already buying a ton of other CD's and vinyls already for my personal collection.

  • what's the song at 0:44?

  • @rocknrollrocks98 On The Wing /watch?v=IUAdrGKW-94

  • i have a usb turntable, but... how do you hook them up to speakers, I can't figure it out

  • You really should handle your records more carefully, just saying.

  • @1ILoveLights It was hard to do that with one hand holding a camera. lol otherwise I take great care of my records.

  • @mbarry6 I see, ^ ^

  • freaked the hell outta me at 0:44

  • where did you buy the record at? also that sounds really good! :)

  • where did you buy the vinyl record at?

  • is it just me or is the label off center???

  • were do you buy your vinyl records

  • @50red510 I got this one on ebay. I get most of them from there, but Hastings also sells records.

  • @mbarry6 thanks

  • This may sound like a dumb question but I bought this same turntable, but it came with no needle. So is this something I need to buy separate or should go for an exchange?

  • @purefites lol! take another look. that little piece of white plastic is a needle guard/packaging material. I thought the same thing when I bought mine. but if it really has no needle then yea return it :P

  • even though this video is being played back digitally, I can still hear the difference in quality between the mp3, and this version.

  • I have the Ion LP Dock. Just came in today.

  • i just bought that exact turntable off of futureshop.ca. is there any background noise you can hear in the recordings, like a hissing or a hum?

  • @thirdseason3 nope. its just like in this video. very clear and good turntable

  • Vinyl is awesome, but this song sucks.

  • Thanks

  • hey man,

great video, LOVE owl city! Im thinking about buying a turntable. But Im an amateur to this field, so do you have to buy external speakers for the turntable? and also what is an usb turntable? in your opinion, does vinyl sound better than digital? why?

thanks, keep the good music coming

  • @jzh101 I do use external speakers for my turntable. the output is the red/white type of audio cables. a usb turntable is one where you can plug it into your computer so that you can record and convert your records into mp3s. yes I think vinyl is way better than digital because there is no audio compression.

  • @mbarry6 Can you listen direct without external speakers using your turntable?

  • @ConfusedSponge nope. its output is rca audio cables, and usb output to a computer

  • @mbarry6 Oh, okay. Thanks. I was hoping it had internal speakers.

  • That is soooo cool. I love vinyl.

  • @Dragonx07 I know they are selling it at Fry's Electronics.

  • I hate this song but seeing modern music on vinyl somehow make it better.

  • that is freaken awesome. XD

  • where can you buy the owl city record?

  • @STACKERMAN8 I got mine on eBay

  • Is that a gatefold vinyl?

  • Hey there. I'm thinking of getting one of these turntables as my current one just died. Someone might have already asked this, but did you do any additional mixing or alteration of the EQ (or RIAA equalisation etc etc) to the song before rendering your audio file?

Also, I assume this is the Ion Profile USB?

    Cheers.

  • @shinynewjb all of the equalization is done entirely by the player. what you hear is the direct output from the player. it can be hooked up to the computer with USB, or you can hook it to your stereo system. (red, white audio cables) and yes its the Ion Profile Pro USB Turntable :) its very reliable and sounds amazing!

  • @shinynewjb

Let me put it this way, this entire player costs the same as just a "decent" stylus by itself. A decent preamp costs the same, passible analogue to digital converters are the same. There's many more components involved in piping vinyl into your computer and they're charging $80 for the whole package? I seriously doubt anything of any quality has gone into it.

At any rate, what's the point of playing digital recordings off of an analogue medium through a digital system? Buy a CD.

  • @wado1942

You make a resonable point, but I'm not a fool. I do buy CDs and MP3s, and I don't intend to replace my enitre record collection for a laugh. I understand that the digital music itself will be clearer than if it has been recorded onto an analog medium and then re-recorded as a digital music file.

The main reason I own a turntable is because I have music that has only ever been released on vinyl. ie. not available to download, not available on CD. It's the only way to play it.

  • Hey, I have that same turntable, but how did you manage to make the stop button work as a start/stop button? Because on my turntable you can only stop the record with that button and then the arm goes back into its rest automatically. This is irritating on some moments (when I just want to pause the record, I can only lift the arm and leave the record spinning).

  • @pagani43 I had to hack into it and remove the gear that catches onto the arm, and replace the switch from the arm with a regular on/off switch.

  • @mbarry6 Could you maybe make a video that shows how to do that?

  • Ok help.

I have the same record. But mines faster. And its not the record player. Cause it only has 2 speed settings(the other one is for the smaller records). Is your slightly fast on the normal setting? Because mine is. :c(Ive tried other records, they all work perfectly normal, and the record was fast when I first got it too)

  • @Cooperdoopers

there are two holes in the bottom of the record player labled 33 and 45. get a flat head screwdriver and slowly turn them to get the correct speed.

  • You shouldn't touch the grooves on your records. They'll last a little longer if you try not to touch the grooves. Great song by the way :-)

  • I have another problem.

Windows Movie Maker and Windows Live Movie Maker will not work with the video camera that I have because it makes mp4 thumbnails. This cannot be put in either program. I have tried to use video decoders but this has all come up as spam.

Please answer as soon as possible.

    David. M

  • How did you make this video?

I have the same record player.

How do you record the music on the record and record this video at the same time?

It would be great if you showed explained the process step by step.

    David. M

  • @puupydoger

    1. download audacity

    2. plug in your usb turntable to the computer

    3. change audacity's settings to use your turntable as the recording device

    4. press record on audacity and then start recording with your camera

    5. play the record and after the song ends, stop recording on both the camera and audacity.

    6. open up some sort of video editor and lineup the audio recorded from audacity and the video recorded from the camera.

    7. render the video and upload to youtube ;)

  • wow, that actually does sound quite good from here...the vision I always have of vinyl is that it's incredibly warm and somewhat crackly, but this is a very clear reproduction.

  • @kenan6346 You can't tell the difference on how it will sound because you're listening to a digital signal. Children lmao

  • @ahjjones I think he means that hes used to the older ones that have been worn down and hasnt heard many newer ones. ya know like the kind that sound like gravel? haha

  • @friken0frank2 Dude WTF? There's hundreds of online sources to buy new vinyl. Amazon, ebay, Aural Exploits is the coolest. Check them out for sure.

  • who listens to this shit

  • @tasu14 apparently not you XD lol

  • @mbarry6 awesome!!! ROFLCOPTOR :)

  • I have the same turntable.....when's the new lathe video gonna be uploaded?

  • @CoryHatfield

of another CDRecord? hmmm If I have time, I may do one pretty soon. as in like have it by next weekend. Im thinking... the invader zim theme?

  • @mbarry6 Nah, the one of the new engraver.

  • @CoryHatfield oh, I still dont have a good solid process yet like the first one has. it was built on alot of trial/error and each step was altered so many times. its hard to explain. but mabey someday. but no time soon tho

  • @mbarry6 Well how about a video showing the new engraver up close? I could probly figure out how to build it if I just saw more details of it.

  • @CoryHatfield

Ok, Ill do that :) and demonstrate the new one recording the zim theme. lol cant tell im a zim fan at all... *cough* :P

  • @mbarry6 lol not at all. I'm looking toward to the vid.

  • @CoryHatfield actually, how would it sound If I made a video of my third engraver? 3.0!!! Ive been experimenting with a new one that takes away the bulk of the entire speaker. it consists of little foam squares, 1 very small slip of cardboard, a coil, and a magnet. and records with even better quality than my engraver 2.0

  • @mbarry6 sounds even better!

  • I don't trust that turntable...

  • @friken0frank2

I got it from ebay. but im sure there are plenty of sites that still sell vinyl other than eBay. just search your favorate albums and see if there is an LP version :)

  • i hate this song, but yes it does sound better than the digital version.

  • amazing sound and a lovely vinyl :]

  • Vinyl, ftw. ;D

  • i did not know that the music still outputs on vinyl wow something new everyday

  • teehee records arr fun-eee

  • isn't their 2 bonus songs on the vinyl?

  • @Xsao69 the songs included are cave in, the bird and the worm, hello seattle, umbrella beach, the saltwater room, dental care, meteor shower, on the wing, Fireflies, the tip of the iceberg, vanilla twilight, and tidal wave. it also came with free mp3 downloads :)
