About six or nine months ago, i DLed Celestia. It's beautiful, but I don't play with it much because it maxes out my CPU. When I'm done paying for my teeth and can get a new computer, I'm going to try it again.

Can I (once I'm no longer using a computer hand crafted by Charles Babbage) do O'Neill habitats, Bishop rings, and other such megastructures? I'm guessing the answer is "yes, but you'll need add-ons," which is fine with me if that's the case.

Its not just a fun application, theres plenty of other good uses. I wish I had discovered this program a year ago, my nephew had to do a project on the Hubble telescope and this might have blown them away.

program with addons. for example, stock Clestia includes 100,000 stars, but with addon on celestiamotherlode website you can have over 2,000,000 stars and each of these stars you can visit. From time to time at celestiamotherlode website, there are new addons which include newest astronomical findings! Because Celestia is still under development, future versions will be also photorealistic.

apophis is a addon if you have clean instalation of celestia you do not have then apophis. You must install addon. At the beggining of video I wrote that videos was made with addons

might be a bit of a noob question, but i downloaded the cloudmap from motherlode and can't seem to get it working. i've tried changing the solarsys document with no luck, and moving the files around hasn't helped at all. i really want to see the iss gliding over the HD earth :(

Download it again, open the *.zip file and move all the folder and files in *zip file into the directory Celestia/textures/highres if I remmember correcly, just moved the files and folder where are there high resolution textures, you will find it easly. Open solarsys file, and change the cloud speed under the section of Earth to zero, type in 0. Final step run Celestia and press R TO GET HIGH RES TEXTURE TO DISPLAY or r, I don't remember which calls out high res texture to display. Enjoy!

No, I checked my record folder, nothing. The problem is, I can't control FRAPS at all in Celestia, it won't let me record, hide the FPS thing or anything for that matter.

OK, uninstall fraps and then try again install it. Check the setting "monitor my desktop" something like that and make sure that key shortcuts are not the same!

OH I forgot. Unchecked benchmark setting if this does not work check it again! Start recording, open any window or refresh the desktop to make sure it is recording by showing red numbers of FPS in one of your corners of your monitor. Note that FPS view must be enabled.

no it is not. i downloaded from website celestiamotherlode. this model of the space station was designed for Celestia only! On this wbsite you can find models for space station in different construction stages. I used the finnaly one, when the station will be completed.

To use this you must download Celestia-ED, also downloadable at this website and the Educational Base package also on this website.When you download those find the Word document Activity9.doc on your computer. In this document there are links which shows you scenes, similar to those in video. I used also Fraps to captured video and Windows Movie maker to edit.
