i saw these guys at a community center in quebec and I use to think that drummers who used triggers were cheating, but after trying them out, I realized that it's not quite as easy as it looks. once you figure out the technique you can go extremely fast but it still requires a hell of a lot more precision than just micing. you can't hide behind triggers, all your errors are much more noticable. its not cheating, your feet are going 250bpm and it doesn't play itself!

the slightest touch on triggers makes a pre-recorded sound from the module go off. that pre-recorded sound is a kick drum being hit hard. and all that has to be done to activate it is slightly hit the bass drum. its SO much easier to play fast softly than hitting it hard. if he didnt have triggers, the kick drum would be silent, even if miced
