  • Cool:))

  • I think I just heard one of the greatest pickers of all time.....

  • Comment removed

  • Timing sucks. That's the loosest all star band I've ever heard.

  • people need to listen with their ears and not their eyes...

  • why is it when a sax player plays fast it is playing and when a guitarist plays fast it is "over" playing? Scotty is very fast but so is Joey DeFrancesco, Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Freddie Hubbard...

  • @Chromatype Because people are susceptible to the same cliche trite opinions they hear from other people.

  • Sotty is a phenom.

  • Overplaying?? If you had a muscle car speedster in the garage...wouldn't you like to take it out and see what it can do?? Yes and that is what Scotty sometimes does.....as does any improvisor worth his salt.....that is the way I see it. He can play straight leads too so i see nothing to criticize...only marvel at what this guy can do.

  • was the mic stand there so he playes slide later?

  • this great. but as guitar pickers go I know one in hot springs arkansas that can play with scott any day. he is terry martin and has his own club to beat.he does a one man band with ketron unit. You should hear terry. to have him and scotty on the same stage would be priceless.....

  • Wow!

  • Nah. Scotty eats up Gatton, or anyone else you can name, and Danny would have no issue with that, were he still with us. IS there a better electric guitarist in this world than Scotty ? His right hand is the future, I can't see how it could get any better. I don't know a classical guitarist who can keep up with him. Go Scotty !!

  • A new find!! For me, he's now up there with Albert Lee, Danny Gatton and other tele luminaries.

  • @martinjp1958

    I agree there.

A new guitar discovery for me is Kazumi Watanabe.

  • that mic stand was awesome (8-}

  • Incredible.

About the "overplaying"-he doesn't always play at warp speed for 80% of the song like on this one. He's playing for a room full of guitarists at a convention, for one (as mentioned). He's an extremely musical player at all times, anyways.

  • OH MY GOD

  • Amazing. There was only one other guy that could hold his own and compete with Scotty on a Tele and that was the genius guitarist Danny Gatton ~ perhaps THE greatest.

  • This is better with the sound down.

  • fuck, he's such a badass, i'd love to hear him on at least a Howard Robert's model Gibson just once to get a slightly fatter tone.

his fingerpicking style is one of kind and i've never heard another player handle double stops at that speed... with a clean tele tone (no gain, or next to none!)

  • Raymond- you will never see a Gibson in Scotty's hands. You have to remember that was recorded live (prob on someone's cheap recorder). Lastly look closely, many of those solos contain triple stops- hence the album of the same name

  • Well,so many different techniques are used in this piece, it's hard to believe that one can master them all with such clarity at supersonic speed. The way he is ascending scales using fingerpicking and descending them with a alternate motion of his thumb pick is very unique.Sound wise the transition between these 2 techniques is very smooth as well as the different rythms patterns he plays in between scales. This guy is a true wonder...

  • Is SA using a thumb pick? On my screen, when he closes his index finger on his thumb do straight alternate pickng, I can't see a pick. It seems like he'd need one to get this definition & speed w/alternate pxking, but at this point I'm willing to believe just about anything!

  • Scotty use's a thumbpick that he cuts down real short

  • If you want to see Scotty Live and you live in the Greater Cincinnati Ohio area, he is playing live next Friday night in Greenhills Ohio. I can't wait to see this wizzard of the 6 string.

  • I think Scotty needs to practice more lol.

  • About the overplaying, most of his videos on youtube are from guitar workshops, this is from a Chet appreciation society concert. If you can't show off while playing for people who paid specifically to see how great you are, where exactly can you? You people appear in the comments under every guitar vid that contains a virtuosity that you can't match. But, at least YOU can play with emotion and feeling.

  • @freedom000 Here, here!!

  • There is no doubt that he is awesome! Fantastic cromatic licks! I have seen him play, he is great. Im completly shocked!

  • Scotty is good no doubt but he seems to overplay a lot which takes away from the musicality at times in my opinion.

  • I`ll second that !

Sometimes "less is more" when it comes to notes.

  • If there is a country/redneckjazz player in the world that beats Scotty when it comes to chops I have yet to hear him.

Not even Brent Mason can match Scotty´s technique

  • Check out Danny Gatton if you haven`t yet. Not saying he`s necesseraly better, that`s a matter of opinion, but he`s still one hell of a player!

  • Was a hell of a player

Scotty has got better technique and tone then Danny had I think

  • Was i meant, sorry `bout that :) Yeah, I guess thats a mather of opinion, but thats what`s so great about music, we can all experience it, yet feel it different..

  • If there is a non-Kryptonian humanoid guitarist in the seven known galaxies who has better chops, tone, and improvisational ability than Scotty, I'll die of astonishment.

  • look up Tommy Emmanuel

  • I'm absolutely floored by Mr. Emmanuel, as well. I'd say he's like the Green Lantern to Scotty Anderson's Kal-El in the guitar equivalent of the Justice League.

  • nicely put man

  • @SevenCircles scotty is obviously very very good, but i think danny gatton is better. he mixes it up a lot more, he seems to have an endless bag of tricks

  • @matt741258963

Danny passed away 16 years ago. ;) He was amazing though especially in the seventies. Danny used a lot of flatpicking rather then fingerpicking and that doesn´t impress me like Scotty´s fingerpicking since it easier and it doesn´t sound as good in general either,

  • @SevenCircles

RATHER THAN!!!!!!!! too many retards who miss use the word "then" as in "now and then" or" less than you are, you idiota!!!!!!"

  • Yeah, but listen to Nugent, (Cat Scratch Fever riff!) or how about the guy with Tommy James and the Shondels (Hanky Panky solo!) And then, I mean, hey, come on, how about the Fifty Guitars of Tommy Garrett? Scotty is good, no doubt, but the REAL masters (All fifty of the Tommy G. cats!) are who we should really be talking about!!!)...Just kidding Scotty, you blow us all away! Att: all musical geniues - Keep raising the bar, so I can keep improving!

  • all your preconceived notions about guitar playing are thrown out the window when Scotty starts cookin...WOW!!!!

  • so smooth it seems effortless....never ceases to astound me ....great player.

  • Good picture of the right hand technique.

  • This guy is amazing...the chorus starting at 3:50 is really impressive!
