They started writing more commercially marketable music, which in my opinion kind of stinks...but you can think that it's awesome to sell-out.

Most bands either didn't do drugs and wrote crappy songs, or they did do drugs, but they went way over board and made songs that made you wonder what the heck was happening as you listen to them. Aerosmith was neither of the above. Plus the fact that they were more inspired by the legit Classic Rock (50s era) so they had more of a raw rock factor to them. An excellent contrast to Queen or Zeppelin.
