I don't hate Kenny Chesney any more. And I won't tease my girlfriend about him being gay, either. She and I both love Dave; he was the reason for our first date. :) And now she can love and I'll just, uh, respect Kenny Chesney.
Very nice tribute. I'm not a country music fan but my brother is and a big Kenny Chesney guy. I think I'll give him another listen next time I'm at his house....
i respect most types of music and i must say that by having kenny chesney cover this song by DMB it really shows how the styles of music can intertyne! great job! miss ys roi!
Lost you 1 year ago Roi, but still see your light shining through the band. Thanks Kenny for such a thoughtful way to honor a wonderful and unique musician and human being.
I'm not a big fan of country (in TX thats all you'll ever hear outside of Austin), but I saw Kenny in San Antonio a few years ago ('06?) taking a girl I knew from HS (mutual classes at university in undergrad). I was impressed, even as a Jazz/Fusion/Jam/Rock musician/fan. This tribute really shows you can't judge an artist by their genre (or a book by the cover). Much respect to Kenny. Love, always, to 'Roi . You are greatly missed, but your life celebrated!
With all due respect to Dave, I'm pretty sure I've seen him perform and not know the words to his own songs. Let me know if you need proof, its here on YT.
seriously dude, its called a tribute. LeRoi Moore was a well respected artist and this was Kenny Chesney's way of paying his respects. I am in no way a fan of country music but i give a lot of respect up to Kenny Chesney.
THis is sweet. Kenny is agreat guy and DMB isobviously phenominal. This is a huge act of respect for the loss of a true musician. Thanks for posting this
Huge fan of both DMB and Kenny, and this is so stirring. His tribute to Leroi is just awesome, and he has done a wonderful job on the song. Thanks Kenny, it is a great tribute.
As a huge Dave Matthews fan who doesn't usually listen to country music, I find it very kind and respectful that Kenny Chesney did this. Dave and crew regularly pay tribute when artists die. For example, when Rick James passed they played Superfreak and ended by saying Rest in Peace Rick. So many people are commenting about the job Mr Chesney did on this song (which I think was excellent), but it isn't even about that. He was paying respect to one of the greatest sax players ever. RIP LeRoi.
The violin thing is pretty amazing. I miss Roi a lot. Watching these tributes is making me cry again. This new album is going to have a different sound i'm afraid.
They Finished most the songs with LeRoi doing the sax. They had clips that he took during the tours. It's going to be an amzing album with the title of the album being named after him i can tell it'll be amazing. R.I.P. LeRoi Moore
although the drummer is really really good....i sure would have HATED to have been in his shoes at this point in time because you know while he is who he is and he played this song very well, there is only one Carter Beauford.
Chesney has my utmost respect for paying this tribute and I believe he did his best- and most musicians will agree that daves songs are not the easiest to play... Good job!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I would have loved to seen this. I heard he did it in Charlotte NC last night. DMB is my all time favorite band!!! A great tribute to LeRoi.
im sorry but his voice is pretty bad here....stick to country

This Guy is Over Rated and Hacked up a Good Song. Dosnt Even Know the Words. Dave would Never Do a Cover and Not Know the Words.
