  • The woods all around Ft. Story had sand instead of dirt which was a unique feature of the surrounding landscape.....I biked in and around the lighthouse countless times on my way to the beach or the movie theater....toads would cross the roads in multitudes in the mornings....blue-tailed lizards, cotton mouth moccasins, black racers, turtles...an abundance of creatures were present everywhere it seemed.....above all the friends I hung out with will remain with me forever... Ft. Story 1963-64.
