My great aunt, who worked in an Estonian ministry, simply disappeared in 1941. Then came the Nazis, who attacked their ally in 1941. What kind of choice did those people have, who supported democracy? They could not join the Allies because one of the Allies was the SU. Nazis were a horrible choice. So what choice did the Baltic democrats have?
The people speaking in your film know only one side of history. Perhaps they do not know much of the Baltic history at all. That however is not an argument. If you do not know our history, you do not have to interpret it for us. For Russians WWII started in 1941. For us it started in 1940, sadly due to the actions of the Soviet Union.
For Russians started in '39 when Soviet-Nazi alliance attacked Poland. But they don't want to remember it and try to usurper their starting date on attack by their former allies.
To be always occupated by somebody is the natural destiny of the small coutries(alas). The only thing you regret of is that it was USSR and not Germany because you think that you could be richer with the help of German money. But it is a mistake, of course. And yes, this is the truth: you are the nazis. But Germany, Italy and other countries confessed, and you didn't.

If you think occupations are natural, then you must agree that Germany had every right to attack the Soviet Union and to kill, deport and murder as many people as their strength allowed. My question to you is - why do you accuse some Estonians who collaborated with the Germans, when your own moral profile hardly gives you the right to take a moral stance? If Russia didn't them bloodbath they did not prefer Nazis. But after that what invading RA did to them for them everything is better that Russia. In consideration must be also taken Hitler idea about Balts - not as murderous as about Slavs or Jews.
What do you know about "Hitler idea about Balts"? There was a plan called Nord. And according to this plan Baltic people were supposed to be assimilated by Germans. They should have their own culture, language and national identification. And I don't actually mean their "past sins" in the beginning of 40s. I mean that they STILL continue the Nazi stuff such as admiring the veterans of SS, digging the graves of Soviet soldiers, outrage upon monuments and so on. I saw a German person...
The Estonian Government of 1940 - the Fashist dicatatorship if Pàts - was a criminal bllody regime too. The Estonians were happy to liberate themselves from Pàts regime - You aunt was seen as a accomplice of Pàts and the people was happy to execute him. The people was happy untill first deportation arrived... it was a real tragedy.
But the Soviet Estonian Government became an accomplice of the USSR Government,because they omitted to protest and to go out from USSR
