  • Why do deez Thai mafugkaz kept errrthang is theirs. Dis dance wuz originated by Khmer. Angkor Wat belongs to Cambodia. No wonder Laos dont like ya cuz ya be acting like ya better then ya neighbors. Haha. Khmer Pride mafugkaz!!!

  • im so tired of crap being thrown from thais to khmer and from khmer to thais.

i' ve been trying to calm things down but i only get sad by all that i get to read... i even considered stop watching dance clips... which i cant.

i love this dance, i looooove the singing.

    peace and prosperity to cambodia.

    peace and prosperity to thailand.

im half thai (khon isaan) and swedish.

  • @johansingharatborner l fully agree Thais and Khmers have so much in common they should be like brothers. Both have magical dance, music, food, culture and wonderful climate. l visited both countries and love them both.

  • This dance is old classical called Bharathanatiyam of Tamil nadu, india.Ankor vat temple is build according to tamil temple s plan. All the Khumur King s name are Pallava KIngsname of Kanchipuram.Tamilnadu.The Pallava s build many cave temples ,sea temple s.and big temples like ankor vat. Tamil s travelled to many countries.many scuptur s found in ankor vat are found in pallava kin gs temple.

  • KHMER will never respect foreign culture and its routes.

They also think songkran, muay thai ,loy krathong,Literature and many other

Thailand traditional culture was made by KHMER without historical proof.

  • @kikuyaki Siam was a kingdom mixed with khmer ppl so we can claim as ours too ahaha bitch!

  • @Towaa30 siam is khom and khmer is not khom.thailand is khom +tai

  • @kikuyaki No there is no khom theres only khmer, khom is just a thai word beside that nobody else knows it execpt the thai ppl.

  • @Towaa30 why Thailand and Vietnam's history call khmer is Barbarian?

khom built Angkor Wat and Cambodia as a slave.

  • @kikuyaki Show me proof that they call us barbarian in a history book. if you say khmer is a barbarian then I guess I can say thai is too for what they did to the boat people of vietnam and how they supported the khmer rouge and force refugee down a minefield path, don't put all khmer in the say category. No there is no khom even most thai ppl know khmer built the temples.

  • You can see our history. "TAI"

  • @kikuyaki See you bs alot ahaha, tai? and not viet? you don't know shit so shut up.

  • @Towaa30 Cambodia's poor past them. The former is inferior

    Today, they remain the same.

  • @kikuyaki Well have you notice we had 30 years of civil war that ended in 1998? costing probably 2million people and there was 10 million landmines scatter through out the country you thailand was lucky that you wasn't vietnam border. it takes time to develope.

  • it's not true in apsara

  • The Thai apsara Dance was made it 1960s and was called rabam lopburi, inspired by the Khmer carvings at Lopburi. And Khmer apsara dance was made in 1950s by queen sisowath komassak nearireth, inspired by the carvings at angkorwat. See nobody copied each other. It's just cultural influence :)

  • @Krittayot95 - Thai made Apsara from Khmer Lopburi, Thai have to call Khmer Apsara not Thai. Thai never created Apsara and never built any temples that look like Khmer. Thailand is a piece of shit of Cambodia Khmer left over 500 years and Thai still not able to develop their own Thai shit culture but to copy Khmer and go claiming loser Thai culture in jail in Cambodia Hahahaha

  • Please stop it with all that Thai Khmer bull. So what we have our similarities?? Why do we have to argue over this stuff??? And u guys shouldn't be say anything about copying from each other because Thai nd Khmer culture is taken from India k?? Thanks I've proven my point. Thanks. Aw kun. ขอบคุณครับ :)

  • Can we stop with the Thai Vs. Khmer? stop saying that either dance is better. if you keep arguing, the more hate you will create between the two. Accept the cultural differences and keep an open mind.

  • This is Thai Culture !!

Thai people taught to Cambodian People but Cambodian Prime Minister steal Thai Culture.

  • @chanpenkai

Please proves it to the world or ask your neighbour like lao, burma, indonesia and malaysia dont make claim like that, because it make you look really stupid.

  • @chanpenkai This is laughable. Like Vichanan26 said, proves to the world first before banging on about Cambodians stole your culture. This dance was accredited by the UNESCO as the world heritage, that said itself who copied who, period.

  • a Cambodian has no dancing invention , a Thai is will dancing this inventor before , give a Cambodian to France

  • @wolf147895623

UNESCO listed Cambodian dance as world heritage because Thai is a copy from Cambodian. Siam lost WWII changing to Thai hiding its shame when France sacked Bangkok.

  • @wolf147895623

All Thai can do is to work harder to convince the world of Thai inventor otherwise just enjoy Cambodian dance world heritage!!!

  • We can see how Thai thieves get jealous to the true owner ( Khmer )

  • @killer0061 Who is a shameless country exactly my friend? see what your so-called PAD yellow shirts are doing, isn't that called SHAMELESS?

  • khmer coppy royal thai classical dance

  • @tonnum53 Where did you get the source from? Internationally, they all know who copied who, so I don't have to single out about this fact. Get a life, my friend.

  • Thai classical dance Oh my god khmer you coppy thaidance

  • stop coppy thai

  • Jai Yo Khmer !

    Jai Yo Prasat Preah Vihear

    Jai Yo Khmer yeung

  • where can i find traditional khmer clothing online

  • @miamichick305ify honestly ur better off going to Cambodia and buying it there. lots of places that sell it usually is over price. but i know the shirt is basically a white r nude colored leotard

  • @samrach i dont think ill eva make to cambodia is 2 expensive goin der n i might get ma ass shot der dat luk like a dangous place

  • @miamichick305ify dangerous? honestly i haven't gone there myself but from what my friends who have gone its not as bad as ppl think it is. just got to go with an open mind plus have common sense

  • @miamichick305ify Like samrach stated that it can be dangerous anywhere you go, no matter what the country. just use alot of common sense when you travel. you would surprise yourself and wonder why you didn't do it earlier.

  • I like this :)

  • Very beautiful dance. I love it. Thanks for sharing this :)

  • This type of dance originated from Thailand !!!! Check Wikipedia !

  • @jimminie Anybody can write on Wikipedia. You need more accurate source than wiki to prove it. Do not blindly say thing if u don't know for sure. Thanks.

  • @Panha88 All Thais knew this fact even before Wikipedia existed! You and all Cambodians need to learn to accept the truth. Now who's the one that "blindly say things if they don't know for sure" Hello?

  • @jimminie Well, this is the F.A.C.T

1- This dance was originated for Surin Province, it was the province of Cambodia at time.

2- This dancing style was sculpted on Angkor Wat's walls. The temple was built in 12th Century. and your country existed which was known as Siem in 14th Century. How on earth the dance was originated from Thailand? that does not make any sense, does it?

3- Your ancestors manipulated your own history, and we all know that (ask any historians) but not yours one. :)

  • @Panha88 May I take this chance to lighten up ur brain and shed some truth light on the history of all traditional Khmer dacnces. Now, This is the F.A.C.T:

    1. Robam Apsara and every Khmer classical dance, as seen today, developed from Thai classical dance innovations from the 19th century and precedent forms were somewhat different

    2. Thailand conqured an ancient Khmer capital of Angkor in AD 1431! Since then, Khmer arts were greatly influenced by Thailand including arts sculpted on Angkor Wat

  • @jimminie Duhhhh, are these facts from your history? I would suggest to do some more research based on the international one, mate. I am sure they wrote some on that. As I pointed out ealier, that you guys are learning manipulative history so it is not really worth to argue with you about this sort of thing.

  • @jimminie and since you like Wikipedia a lot, I've got another amazing F.A.C.T for you, here we go :) "By the 13th century, the dance received a Khmer identity rather than Indian, unlike any other dance form in the world." is that clear? and that would make your F.A.C.T number 2 invalid, wouldn't it. BINGO :)

  • @jimminie no Angkor was already built and half way done when the thais came.

  • @jimminie OMG.....U STUPID DUMB BITCH I'M SO SICK IN TIRED WITH ALL THESE THAIS CLAIMING EVERYTHING IN ANGKOR AND KHMER TEMPLE IS INFLUENCED BY THAIS, DO U EVEN OPEN YOUR SMALL EYE AND LOOK AT SCULPTED ASPARA IN ANGKOR WAT AND ANOTHER THING DOES THE ANGKOR WAT LOCATED IN THAILAND? NO, ACTUALLY OUR ANGKOR WAT AND ASPARA IS ORIGINATE FROM INDIA BITCH NOT THAI. AND YOU KNOW WHAT IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE IS ORIGINATE FROM, KHMER ROBAM IS BETTER THEN THAIS.

  • @Panha88 al these from india

  • @jimminie Where on earth did you get your "facts"? If they're from Thailand, I'm sorry to tell you this but your country manipulated your own history.

  • I like Thanks

  • I'm a khmer . And i pratic this dance :3

  • Very Beautiful!

Greeting from your neighboor, Vietnam with lots of LOVE

    Go Cambodia! :D

  • สวยมาก

  • Khmer Apsara dance for Ever !

  • The ramthai video is actually Rabam Lopburi. Lopburi is in Thailand but during the 12th century it was under the rising Angkor regime and became one of the most important centers in the Chao Phraya basin. Because it was ruled by the Khmer empire, that is the reason why the dance style and costume is similar, it was said that the style was taking from the stone carvings of the temple after the Apsara in Cambodian or Achara in Thai meaning angels or celestial beings.

  • What is she saying in the beginning, would love to know. Beautiful dance! Thanks for the post.

  • kyom chol chet robam nee hi srolang chumream

  • How beautiful and elegant. I think the Khmer version is better than that Thai version; the movement is so controlled, measured and precise. How wonderful.

  • I agree, Cambodian traditional dance is much more graceful, delicate, lovely...so many words to describe. Overall very elegant.

  • Comment removed

  • @mamasanlzn you're right!! thanks you!!!!

  • @khmerkidlove You are welcome. I am on the outside looking in. I am not Khmer or Thai, so I can watch and "critique" without really knowing much about the dancing.

  • It seems to me that people forget about the purpose of performance art. Why do we have go argue about what belong to who? Art is art. Just appreciate the whole performance. I don't think it matters who perform it. Khmer dance is beautiful and so as Thai dance. They might look similar but still different in details. Both are good. Art is very subjective. YOu keep watching it if you like it and just ignore it and skip to the next one.

  • very beautiful! i'm very proud of our cultur... khmer pride

  • Hmmm, they should reintroduce the harp, it will make a calm "celestial" background...anyone else agree :P heehee

  • I wish I could do this! I can only do the Robam Kouh Troloak, but that's easy. This is hard...! :o

  • This is truely a beautiful dance. I love it. Thanks for sharing! =)

  • Because if negetive remarks will continue to be spoken or written, then of course there will be no progress if both sides refuse to just let the bad things be, and actually move on. But with your insight of which I have read I really do see your point. So what has been done so far? I would like to know more if I can? Thanks again for your time.

  • I think you don't understand the history of Cambodia and Thailand for why the two nations have gone into war with each other for centuries... I have heavily researched about both countries and Thailand has stolen and rewrote lies about the history about Khmer and Thai... if you took the time to research into both countries you will find out that Thailand is nothing but a country built up from greed since the beginning of time when they refuge into Khmer land in the first place.

  • Negative remarks will continue, but why should Khmer people deal with lies and deception until the present day now ? Why should they claim a temple that is not even theirs to begin with ? Angkor Wat wasn't theirs to begin with but why would they want to claim a temple that was made by ancient Khmer people ? Why would they want to claim a temple that was older then Angkor Wat which was Preah Vihear made by ancient Khmer people ? Why would they want to do such a thing to Khmer people for ?

  • You have a point, But Thailand is not the only Country guilty of this. Other Cultures out there have done so acordingly or probrably worse. And you still not have answerd my question. But thats alright. Again pointing Fingers at the wrong people should not be honed upon. Those responsible are those in charge of History. Scollars. Life is a Circle, so what harm has been caused will only return to those who did it. Eventually the truth will be shown. And when it does... :-D

  • Maybe you should check out this map of Srok Khmer when there wasn't Siem Reap and battabong province on the map... Srok Khmer nearly almost got wiped out until the French intervene to stop Srok Khmer from getting swallowed up by Siam land and Yuun land. I point my fingers at them because it is the truth from all my researching I have done I have got to the conclusion of them treating the Khmer people now. We let them refuge in our land freely and we were almost wiped out by them.

  • There are many other debates I would get into detail with you about, but I would rather save that for another time. Like I have said since the beginning of time they have never thanked Khmer people for letting them into our land. If you study about the Tai tribes since they still do exist now you will find out their culture is way completely different more then the ones in South East Asia... they did not accept Indian culture and beliefs they took and adopted Khmer culture that is.

  • I still think you don't get it honestly... you said pointing at the wrong people ? They used Khmer Surin people to attack our own people in our motherland back in Srok Khmer. I don't think you know anything about Cambodia and Thailand honestly.... what are you honestly ? I've researched so much of what they have done to our people until the present day now.. example Preah Vihear it's ours now, but still why get into it with Khmer people when it's ours to begin with ? Still thieves since day one.

  • You just got me started seriously lol... pointing fingers.. I believe we have a right to point fingers I mean look at what they have done stepping into Khmer soil with 1000 soldiers to try and intimate us with our ancient temples Preah Vihear which is a Khmer temple with Khmer scripts on it which predates Angkor Wat... do they truly think Khmer people are stupid and push overs or something ? Khmer people will rise back into power since we are rebuilding our country once again now.

  • I wouldn't bother to blame historians, scholars, and the government. It's the people themselves who continue to believe in the nonsense that they have created to continue the cycle of lies and deception for the world to believe. Khom ? Khamen ? have you heard those two terms before ? They call modern day Khmers Khamen while they call our ancient Khmer ancestors Khom very funny to degrade modern day Khmers that we are so called jungle people.

  • What question are you talking about ? I don't recall ever commenting you before at all... it looks like that KoneAngkor guy you must be talking about or something... I'm just another Khmer person who knows his true history about Srok Khmer and Siam land. I won't allow deception and lies to be spread upon the world. Khmer art was completely stolen from Siam people for their own benefits and what do Khmer people have now ? It's a pity that Siams would recreate a fake model of Angkor Wat.

  • I am so happy and proud to be Cambodian. I love our culture and our dances..so beautiful and the way they bend their hands back so far is amazing as well..

  • why is the main apsara alwaly wear white?

  • It represents purity.

  • I think lamThaiforever not Thai.

  • Apsara r pretty i want 2 b 1...

    lol...luv dis robam

  • that thaiforever dude seems to be mad at the world.....LOL dudes lame...great vid

  • They're adorable - -* What the heck are you talking about....Peace!!!

  • can u jux give it a fucken rest man

thai &&khmer dancer like r almost the same

&&if u think its shitty den dont watch it

  • Can you please take your nut-sized brain out of your ass and learn to be human?

  • foOl u need 2 get laid. Always fucKin hatiN.... u needa Pu5sY or a D!cK in ur life... stop hating on Cambodian people. Ur on our jock, my NigG.

  • You are so ignorant! If you sure don't like it then why bother looking at it? There are so many Thai dances on you tube if it really makes you feel that happy and worthy go check it out and don't come on here cursing like a dog. For your own information Thai culture was adopted from the Cambodians. If you know how to do research and use the computer go on wikipedia and search Thailand and Cambodia culture....stop insulting.

  • you do realize that Thai dance is just the butchered version of Khmer dance right??

  • Thats a real rude thing to say. Besides all of south east Asia's dances are hevily influenced by India. Would you say that Cambodian is a butchered version of Indian hand formations. No, because each Culture in Asia, are all linked together one way or another. Be it through Foods, Dances, or way of living.

  • i agree that all cultures throughout southeast asia are linked, that's obvious. but the thing a lot of people don't realize is that the link between thai art and khmer art forms is one of theft and exploitation. for instance after the sack of angkor the thais took all of the dance masters, as well as masters of other arts like as music and such, to develop court culture in thailand. some more recent examples are the angkor shows.

  • throughout cambodia they perform angkor shows for tourists that recollect the history of the khmer people from the legend of the churning of the sea of milk to the great kings of the empire like suryavarman and jayavarman. in lopburi thailand, once part of the angkor empire, they also perform angkor shows, at a khmer temple no less, it looks nearly identical, you can find it on youtube.

  • now why would thailand perform shows about another peoples history, the answer is simple, money, but never do they mention khmer people. another example is the new angkor style spa they just built in thailand. also, the whole preah vihear situation, it is khmer temple that sits on the border between thailand and cambodia. the temple is in cambodian territory and has just been awarded world heritage status.

  • now all of a sudden the thai government pulled back their support and are pushing rather aggressively for rights to the temple even though the temple is well within cambodian territory, has an obvious khmer aesthetic, and was built even before the thais settle the region. so the temple is obviously khmer. why would they do this, again the answer is simple, they know that khmer art and culture has a great exotic allure to tourist, they want money.

  • sorry for my rant, but my point is this. yes all southeast asian dance forms share a link to india, but i think it is safe to say that khmer and thai dance are much more similar than khmer and indian dance. and the hand formations, although similar, khmer hand movements are used to tell a story, that is uniquely khmer. in my opinion khmer dance is more entertaining to watch, but of course i am biased. i was just trying to give credit where credit is due.

  • because if this very blatant theft and exploitation of khmer culture by the thais continue and with resource-hungry nations on either side of cambodia, the khmer people are going to end up like the chams or the mons, without a country of their own.

  • To KoneAngkor. Well I honestly see your point. But I am sure that things will turn out for the best. Not all Thai's wish harm against their roots of which they are aware comes from Cambodia. Its again Politics that has ruined people in High Places to do such things. Again not all Thais are of evil intent. Although this is unfortunate, but with help of "positive" intervention and education of what is really happening. Things can final change.

  • Much much better than Reymeas people. Nice! n thx for uploaded this kind of dance.

  • ive danced dis before i wish i could be in the middle :)

  • i like this video very much........and thxs to you itz now on my favorites

  • Hey I cant imagine what would you look like when you're wearing Apsara's costume <3 lol

    Yeah it's beautiful!

  • Very beautiful! Greetings from Indonesia!

  • Cambodian apsara's are beautiful!

  • Is it really true about that haunting of those people who stole those leaves or is it just a myth? I really hope they air it on TV cuzz I would love to see it. I saw on tv that a tourist caught the ghosts of apsara dancers on his video camera & he got so scared he never came back again. I know that's true cuzz cameras don't lie!!

  • Huh????? Really??? I want to see it!!!

  • where can I buy this video?

  • not sure if they have it online, in long beach at the khmer dvd stores they have it just ask for the chap meas robam dvd other thank that i don't know sorry

  • Hi Samrach

Thank you for your reply. I hope to find when the next time I go to Northeastern Thailand. Heard I can get it there. Once again, thank you.

  • wonderful!

  • hey guys...take a look at this- ramthai - (search this)...really resembles don't you think ( the costumes ) lol...

  • I seen this one before I'm not really sure about the name but I think its Upsorn which is Thai for Apsara so yeah its like the thai verison of the Khmer one

  • That's a Lopburi dance. Their headdress is distinctly Lopburi. Lopburi has influences from Khmer and Thai the Mons took both and created a unique Lopburi style. I didn't know Thai have an Apsara dance, I thought they don't really do Apsara?

  • theyre speaking cambodian. cultures in that area are similar but this is a cambodian dance, no doubt because ill be performing it in 2 weeks! im using this video to practice

  • It is too definitely I love my country it is has say Cambodia

  • I think we've got the Apsara costume accurate for now...but I have been looking at the Apsara carvings on temples such as Angkor, and they may resembled the movements here- Champa dance-8.....please take a look, search for Champa dance-8. I am not saying the movements are the same, I just want to say that our original Khmer dance style may have been more streneous.

  • the positions that they do are similar to the carvings but I only think that the carvings have that angle just that its easy to carve at angles than straight and give it more unique shape

  • i'm learnin tha solo. ish so long. so hard. haha. i like it, but ish a lot of remembering.

  • My father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather had live near angkor wat, they did alot of excavating man ;),now if i could just get him to show me where he once dugged things up,i might be able to come home with something next time i visit Siamreap ;),stubborn old fool hahahaa,he won't tell man.

  • Maybe he will tell me where it is burried at if i get him drunk,he said he know places where artifact are still being burried. He said it feel like stealing from the ghosts of ancient past,he took some home and brought it back to be burried. He said it's not jewelry,if that's what you looking for,i said what was it pap ? he said stone carvings budha big small and other small things.

  • He told me "kom jong dirng ey",it belong to the ancient king of Cambodia,he said it's not your to dig up and take things that don't belong to you,he said everything found at angkor wat should be return,it belong to our ancient king.He said we are all so lucky just to be able to set foot on Angkor Wat,to steal the treasure from the realm of our ancient king is the worst crime he said.

  • I tried to get him to tell me where he found treasure and burried artifacts,i asked him to tell me the exact spot,he won't even reveal it to me man,his own son man,he said it's protected secret.

  • I called my papi Cambodiana Jone,no joke man,he dugged up alot of place in SiamReap,he's a native son, live there all his entire life,he have alot of spare time to dig around man, from young age to being old and gray,so he have extensive knowledge about angkor wat,he worked with french archaelogical team, the man taught french at sala lycee in siam reap.

  • My father said you can dig four or five feet down into the ground and still find treasure there at angkor wat.the apsara dancer in white outfit look so graceful like a swan ;)i enjoy watch the balinese legong dancer also ;)

  • Dude my father told me there are places you could dig down deep real deep and you can still find treasure from ancient past,my father help preserve the temple from falling apart with frenh archaelogical team.

  • Dude i'm not kidding man,we're the one with the Angkor Wat temple man, look around man,who else could afford one during that time ? not one as beautiful as our man.Our kings trully are mighty back then.

  • summber 2007 i was haunted by an Apsara in Siem Reap, Cambodia...does anybody know whats that suppose to mean...? cause that shit was freaken scary!!

  • Did you happen to find a gold leaf in the pond and decided to steal it? I heard some archaeologist and his team surveyed some sight at Angkor and found mounds of treasure and were haunted to death.

  • What? Trying to steal from Angkor? I want to know of this particular archaeologist, tell me the story. :) I want to know.

  • Well it happened in the early 90s a team of Cambodian assistance and a foreign archaeologist were exploring the ruins of Angkor and found solid gold shaped leaves. These same leaves were the ones the Apsara of the past threw into the borey to bless the king, and by stealing those leaves the were all haunted to death. This is a recent legend I guess.

  • So were there in solid evidence of this happening? Or is it just a myth?

  • I guess it is a myth? But seeing as the story was published and reinacted on a travel show, it could be true. They say that the Apsara dancers used to bless the Khmer Empire by dancing for the palace and throw golden leaves into the moat and ponds within Angkor.

  • What? Trying to steal from Angkor? I want to know of this particular archaeologist, tell me the story. :) I want to know.

  • I like robam apsara!

  • music & dance were so beautiful

  • Yea, it's true eh? Khmer people are beautiful and rich. We also know how to dance very beautifully. Khmer people are rich and live in big temples and cheap viet people live on the streets on the grass!! hahhhhhahhaaa....

  • Yea, it's true, eh? Khmer people are rich and viet people lived on the streets in the grass! hahahahaa...

  • please stop your childish nonsense.

  • Yaboy712 did you see all that bling bling homie ? Khmer people came from heaven of course we're rich, once upon a time we dress in silk and satin sheets, our body are adorned with diamonds, gold, gems,we perfumed and annointed ourselves with wild exotic flowers,we once rule most of vietnam, laos, and thailand,we were very rich once, how else can we afford to erect such beautiful temples ? we live in palaces, the viet live in grass huts hahaaaa
