Seriously guys, you make a good unique free roam game right now, it will be really fuckin popular. Look at Assasin's Creed, GTA series, Batman/Spiderman, Minecraft, Elder Scrolls, Map based MMORPG's(ex:W.o.W), Zelda, Mario,Saints Row,Dead Rising,Read Dead,Dead Island, Just Cause.. I dunno I think there must be some kind of clue here.

I still think it's amazing that Minecraft made the list considering Minecraft was an indie game not too long ago. And a 2 man created game. They should be proud! It seems to me that mod-able, free roam games are always extremely popular. If I were a game developer, I would take that into consideration guys.. You want your game to sell, make it free roam and mod friendly. Free roam games seem to be the best.. Look at Zelda.. They have been using it for yearsss and still get nominated everytime.

I really don't want to spend 20 hours doing 1 quest that won't help my character and spending 300+ hours in a video game where I'm easily going to start to get bored. The mods are what make it good. If you play this on a console its no where near as fun as it would be on the PC. So I do not Skyrim deserves it.

Rpg fans will enjoy because you can play it for hours and get nothing done. the most fun ive had is wandering around and finding things. I honestly prefer Dark Souls and Deus Ex as the better RPGs this year. Sure I played countless hours into Skyrim's side quests, became a were-wolf whilst trying to cure myself of vampirism but the game felt clunky to me. Games such as Witcher 2, Deus Ex and Dark Souls just feel more refreshed and interesting. Witcher 2 with it's magical and spontaneous environment that's so different. Deus Ex with it's blade runner influenced world and abilities that were just so awesome. IMO 2012 looks greater!

Not sure the award is deserved from a technology standpoint. BF3 would easily win there. Skyrim is basically built on the same engine as oblivion with very few tweaks. I was a fan of oblivion especially with modded textures. If skyrim comes out with a dx11 patch I would buy it...

@Treston296 i think perhaps this comes down to perspective, i do love RPGs however i dont enjoy replaying the same story, SP experiences dont change, your experience of BF3 may not have been the best one however due to the fact that the landscape is destructable and it involves Player battles they are never the same. BF3 isnt simple shoot and kill, if thats what you think then your BF3 experience wouldnt be enjoyable and you arent experiencing it all, theres so much more than that :)
