  • I love the Nutnfancy talking points, but the ONLY area where I would disagree with Nutn is on every knife needing jimping. Sometimes a knife is just built to fit your hand a certain way and jimping won't actually add anything useful to the design.

  • hey nutn any thoughts on the Benchmade Bedlam plainedge?

  • @LWRCftw He said in his shot show review that he really digs the knife.

  • if nutn made a knife that was under $200 i would buy it without any thought.

  • $160 / CF M4 2012 Forum Knife. $160.00 / 300 min order.

There is a Bencmade Forum knife going on right now Nutn, just a heads up.

  • Hey nutn, I'm an ex-machinist, and I just wanted to give you a heads up that carbide drills are not meant to be run slow. They are hard, and brittle, they need speed to cut properly. And typically without lubrication because of heat shock. Lubricating carbide can be like heating up a piece of glass and tossing it in a bucket of ice water. Looked like about a .5" bit, run the RPM at around 500 and take small, tapping pecks, should eat right through that hard stainless. Do not pre-drill.

  • @DutchOvnnn What about cobalt bits? I've had some success drilling through sheet stainless with cobalt bits. In addition, how about drilling a smaller hole and working your way up to your final diameter?

  • I have been thrashing this knife for about a year now and its held up admirably. still rock solid lockup. I've bent the clip on it twice, but their service is awesome and they replace it and tune it up to spec for cost of shipping. This knife is definitely worth the cost. I've seen what osborne can do now, so I'm thinking about getting a 940 for carry when I'm not working.

  • Regarding "jimping": I would say its more important that your finger under the blade can't slip? I mean: if you slip on top of the knife it's not that big of an issue as it it isn't sharp. But your finger slipping on the blade side? ouch!!

  • @f0xmuld3r Everything keeping your hand from moving foreward is important, that jimping up top helps keep your hand from moving on the bottom too.

  • ever consider reviewing the Ka-Bar Dozier Bobcat?

  • The handle must be a Serta bed for the hand.

  • We really need a review on the 9555 auto Rift

  • @rogermaassen018 Same as this but in an auto version. the review would be the same.

  • i was wondering whether to buy this and i figured nutnfancy would have a review of it, or at least i was hoping. now i can watch 18 minutes of awesomeness and i know ill make the right choice!

  • Get a ZT0500 Mudd Knife for a fully sealed locking mechanism and pivot. No way that knife is going to fail to lock up when you want it to. Super strong too. I stabbed through a mini-keg with it.

  • Love this blade!! 2nd kind of cool!

  • well when it comes to tactical knives you want weight and the rift is under the black class so regardless of what anyone may think it was made for tactical use, also the liners arent milled out for weight because it would reduce the rigidity of the handle and create more liner flex and due to the size of the knife the rigidity is needed.

  • The reason you might've broken those carbide bits is because carbide is not as tough compared to steel - any misalignment or bending in the bit will tend to cause fractures in the material. I would recommend cobalt drill bits (good ones are pricey) in a drill press, with a proper center punch and center drill, or a carbide end mill in a milling machine.

  • do you think the auto version of the the Benchmade Rift Auto 9555BK would be a good edc or tactical?

  • Nutn,

If you don't mind, where did you get the hammer @ 11:08 in the vid? Thanks for your time.

  • Wow, this knife matches perfectly with any sig sauer equinox edition. Fashion conscious sheep dogs take note.

  • hey Nutnfancy, Have you had any experience with the Benchmade 913 Nitrous Stryker? It really caught my eye and was wondering if you had any opinions on it

Thanks for all that you do man!

  • how would this compare to the bone collector?

  • Hah, I love this knife so much it's become a priority in my planning for whenever I can get a job this summer. xD

  • A HSS bit would have cut through that like butter

  • I sold mine, I should have sanded the edges on the scales and let the pivot break in. I thought that the scales sucked too.

  • haha, I love the intro...

  • I got one. Yup. All black. It does break in fairly quick and is one of the more fast blades I own. Takes traction tape well too. Right across the scales (space and all) for the thumb. I'd say it really grows on you. My GF even likes it. That says something.

  • I own this knife in the Sbk version and I love it. Good heft, strong and fast. I chipped it a few weeks back but gave it some sharpening and good as new. Got a great deal on it and it was an instant fav. I can understand the weight issue though but sometimes it comes in handy.:)

  • I'm surprised, I couldn't find the Bone Collector more comfortable.

  • I'm new to the tactical knife scene but getting really into it. can someone please tell me what EDC stands for? ive looked online but cant find a clear definition, Thanks

  • I need to stop watching these video's. Just purchased this knife.....along with another one....and yea....I'm thinking about another purchase...think I'm showing the first symptoms of an addiction.

  • what companies serrations would you recommend?

  • @ZAKK2332 As I recall in another of his videos I think he mentions kershaw's.

  • Thanks for another great knife revew Nutn! I am currently EDCing either a SOG Aegis or a Benchmade 890 Torrent (depending on what i feel like that day) and am very pleased with both thanks to your reviews. Happy Holidays!

  • As a reference, my primary defense blades are a Boker Jim Wagner Blade, a Cold Steel AK-47, my primary EDC is a SOG Trident (possesses a similar axis lock).

  • @Clineburg88 Actually the sog tridents lock and the axis lock look similar externally, but internally they are totally differently.

  • Nutn. Love your work, big fan. I was wondering if you've heard any feedback on the axis lock in regards to combat. I do not prefer liner lock knives for defensive purposes; in the heat combative dynamics your hand can actuate the liner lock, causing the blade to close (It's actually happened to me, thankfully it was a dulled, training folder). For combat purposes, I stick to lockback designs, like Cold Steel's tri-ad lock system. Any regards toward this?

  • Man, I love the look of that handle. That is sweet.

Keep it goin with the great knife reviews. Yours are always the best!

  • I love this knife but the problem I have with mine the clip really isnt tight. I get worried I'm going to lose it.

But everything else about this blade I love.

  • I love this knife, and other benchmades, but I just cant pay $100 plus. lol Im a highschool student, I dont have a lot of money lol I dont want to pay much more that $50, thank God for the crkt m21 04 black g10

  • ive been eying that knife for a long time and wish it was cheaper in the price but is it really worth it

  • For some reason most of your videos have not been coming in my subscriptions and I just checked your home page to see if anything was new. The last 10 or so videos didn't show up. Funny thing is I ordered this knife (its still in the mail) and just found your review of it. Writing this while the video loads but just reading the description I think I made a good buy. Video is loaded now I will see for sure.

  • @fatum77 We keep hearing that from people, and according to YouTube help, they are aware of the problem. Hopefully, they will fix it soon! -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Hey nutn! What do you think about Extrema Ratio knives?

  • @nutnfancy WTF why did you ruin those liners.

  • just brought home my Benchmade 9555 (Auto version of the Rift) and can't wait to put it through it's paces and see how I like it.

  • i think benchmade has the best edge in the box of any other brands in the same price point.

  • thanks for your opnion i keep it in mind because i already doubted the automatic rift i think i`m gonna get the manual rift

  • hey i got a qeustion because i`m thinking of buying the rift but i saw that the price went up to 230 because you get assisted opening what do you think take it or leave it . ps i love the nutnfancy project almost saw all of your vids. thank you

  • @heyhowyouredoing There's an automatic rift that costs more than the manual rift. Automatic is completely overrated, in my opinion. It doesn't add anything for me and there are bizarre legality issues in many places.

Order the manual version. I just ordered the 950BK 2 days ago for $165, and another site had the 950 (plain edge satin finish) for $108. It has since gone up to $165, but the price fluctuates anywhere in between there.

  • You carried it for 6 months? That is truly in depth research, my friend. Kudos for doing your homework before throwing it out there. A while back I had the same experience with the sharp shoulders on my Leatherman Kick (won in a raffle, not my 1st choice). I thought I was the only guy who sanded the handles on stuff until then. Didn't think it was "proper". No more. If I'm going to carry something, I'm going to be comfortable doing it. IMO this is a 5 dressed up as a 9. Peace to ya.

  • its blade looks like min-Samurai sord

  • was intrested in this knife but as soon as you said would not recomend for tactical lost interest. a knife that big should fufill multiple roles in a system. handle looks amazing though. will try to find something similar

  • I'm still divided between this version and the 950BK, the black plain edge blade. I've heard that the 950BK has the same issues you noted with the 950SBK, the coating makes the pivot joint rough and slow to deploy. I imagine some Tuf-Glide and breaking in will fix the issue though. However now that I see a (good) video of the satin edge blade, I'm once again leaning in that direction.

  • Keywords matter. I once knew a guy named WESSON who thought he was an ACE because he carried new Rift Benchade HARDWARE which he let go for just over a hundred dollars. You needed to know his discount codes , which were hidden in plain open sight if you were to surf to his site. Justa rumor

  • this knife was on csi:ny this week!

  • Snagged my identical Rift new && online for $109 at they-won't-let-me-tell-you dawt calm Shop harder.

  • Pro production this time with accurate specs. One Rift downside may be the Pinch Factor. This can happen if you (I) stupidly leave your (MY) index finger hanging over the handle front...just as the blade is snapped open hard . Top/rear of 950 blade is shaped so that you may smartly squash your finger tip & earn a big blood blister. For me sanding scales took 30 careful seconds for each side. Didn't need to remove them for this. All is good now and it wasn't that big a deal to begin with.

  • when you drill it if you make a pilot hole with a smaller bit it will help good vid

  • hey nutn do u think u could try and review a buck quickfire?

  • Don't mean to SPAM, but i'm 13 and I'm trying to kick off my new Weapons review Blog. Check it out for airsoft and knife reviews. I'll take requests. Help me out guys!

  • world of blades is crazy U get confused when U watch couple of vids when U goin' to purchase this kind of blades

  • how much ??

  • I really dig that blade design. That is the kind of EDC knife I like to carry with a 3" blade or longer. Great reveiw keeping it real ! Keep up the Great work.

  • NUTNFANCY REVIEW THE BOKER PRY MATE AND PRU MINI PORFAVOR

  • I bought this knife and it is worth every penny! Simply put : love it. All the negative (less positive :) ) points mentioned are true, but even so...the cool factor outweighs it. Thanks for the maaaaany reviews Nutn, keep it up!

  • that is an EXPENSIVE knife for 154cm...

  • looks just like griptilian?

  • just kind of wondering, what traction does the 940 have? because i know you love that blade for tactical from your review, but i dont see any real traction on that blade

  • carbide isnt meant to go slow thats why u broke the bit

  • the pricing (and pricing policy) on benchmades have turned me off towards their products in 2010. too much of a ripoff if you ask me, and too much hassle with overcoming their official pricing. I've mostly bought Kershaws this year, I may get back to BM when they settle down with their greed.

  • Dear Nutnfancy,

Please stop doing these reviews. My bank account only has so much money in it, and you keep on making me buy more knives.

    Thank you very much

  • @frizzer900 LOL, I actually have to start selling some of my knives. I have way too many of them.

  • nice blade. the shape is like the japanese kitchen knives that you see nowadays.

  • SOG VISIONARY 1 por favor, dont know if the knife is really practical.

  • Interesting knife, not an interestng Price. Thanks for the review, Nutn'. Keep up thr great work and keep sharing the knowledge!!!

  • I prefer the 940, i just don't like the blade or handle on the 950. It's just got a little to much belly sweep and its a tiny bit too wide for me. And it's 2 ounces heavier.

  • a wonderful knife...i'm drooling over it...

  • Just in time for Christmas!

  • QUESTION NUTNFANCY!!! what camera do you use? excellent picture quality

  • great review as always.

  • Yet again, I have sent my fourth Benchmade knife back in within a year. At Benchmade's price point they are producing some sub-par knives. Still very disappointed with their quality control. Sent in a Dejavoo 740, Presidio 5000, & two Mini Dejavoo 745 knives

  • @tribunation I know what you mean. Benchmade is becoming akin to Gibson guitars. The prestige (and price) held by the name stays, but the quality control has dropped drastically.

  • @velocigecko Finally, I have someone agree with me on this matter. I think some of Kershaw's designs kick "a" on BM for way cheaper. My Kershaw knives are more reliable than my BM knives.

  • @tribunation i agree bro, i prefer kershaw ova BM in 90% of the time, kershaw just make a great blade for a great price.

  • i definitely need to pick one of these up great review as always.

  • i love the 940 too!!

  • Another homerun from Benchmade! Great review Nutn, keep 'em coming!!

  • would you put a back cut on it

  • Incredibly cool looking knife. You should give him like 4 points for 2nd kind of cool.

  • awsome vid man!!

  • 930 Kulgera is a nice one too. I like it a bit better.

  • You have the greatest sound effects of all time !

  • great knife, good size, nice shape.

  • get rid of the old vid. it was not great. the table top review with talking points is the way to go. are you edc ing a taser now. damn!!!

  • Nice, I have this model but I don't really carry it as its not really a 'tactical'. I'm gonna have to revisit it now. Mine has the serrations and yes it opens slow. I am a Benchmande and Emerson fan although I carry a Strider RC right now. And I like a larger knife for EDC.

  • Awesome Review, Thanks again

  • lol... at first I read "154CM" as 154 centimeters. Imagine that, a 5 foot folding knife. =)

  • @zooblestyx Look at the Cold Steel Espada XL. Close enough.

  • @grimtriggerman OMG, it's a folding sword =) Is it in your collection?

  • @zooblestyx Not yet. I've been trying to justify it first but I'm thinking about just going out and buying it when I got the spare cash floating around.

  • @zooblestyx funnily enough, I just watched my stepson playing Final Fantasy XIII and one of the characters has a 5 foot folding sword. >:oD

  • @zooblestyx This comment actually made me laugh out loud. Awesome.

  • hounds tooth?..

  • I miss my benchmade. I am partial to tanto tips though. My benchmade was stolen! Darn theives! I gotta git me another one. Know any place with good prices?

  • Conagra never use their production knives on cardboard. Moooo.

  • Huh. I am NOT a fan of benchmade. I had one of their 556 knives and it rusted to death and the blade screw loosend and the blade got loose so I threw it away. I contacted Benchmade before pitching it and they did nothing. I prefer spyderco or kershaw now.

  • its so refreshing to have a new Nutnfancy knife review. its been to long old friend.

  • What program do you edit your videos in?

  • for 17 minutes you just talked about a knife :0

you know you could just have reviewd the knife in 5 mins unless it shoots lasers too!

  • @babaz7 Yes but thats kind of the fun thing, hearing a person talking about something that he loves. I think it´s kind of amazing how he can talk about a knife for ever, but thats just because he loves it. I bet you can go on and on about whatever you love in life.

  • Damnit!! Something else I want to go out and buy *sigh*

Thanks for all your hard work.

  • i'm sold

  • i've been watching the nutnfancy channel for a long time a i still don't know what is an E.D.C knife. can some please tell me

  • @Uri24 It means Every Day Carry, he has a vid on his channel about it. It is just a knife that you will always carry with you unlike a huge survival knife or a tactical knife.

  • @Uri24 Every Day Carry

  • Comment removed

  • Dont leave the initial review out there. It was weak and misinformed. I sold mine thinking there was a lot more to be had from Benchmade when in reality this is a great knife.

I love your reviews and think what you do is great but the initial review was not informed and misguided. Keep up the good work!

  • it's about time!!!!!!!! aaaaaaah more knives more wilderness adventuressssssssssssssss

  • That's a cool looking knife! I like the blade shape...a little different. The handle is sweet looking.

  • Good lookin knife. To much money for a mediocre edc blade.

  • I always get excited when I see a new Nutnfancy video in my subs panel. Really happy to see another awesome knife review!

  • If youtube doesnt get this sub box not showing up stuff figured out, im gonna go crazy.

  • @Kylef7735 You not the only one bro, i seem to spend more time lookinf for my sub's vid than watching them atm, "YT get your Shite together"

  • @TheDishD Yea, the way i had any idea this video was uploaded was that 154CM liked it.

  • Comment removed

  • Great review. But as only a casual knife guy, I just can't justify the money that BM wants for most of their blades. I hear that you'll understand the price once you have it in hand but dang just too much $ for me at this point. So many of them do look awesome but so are a lot of competitors at a much lower price. Anyway thanks nutn!

  • Comment removed

  • does nutnfancy train with bayonets??? on rifles?

  • its nice to hear your voice again nutn lol, i havent been able to watch your vids for a while, gotta a little catching up to do

  • Cool handle. I love how it looks.

  • wow... that is a really nice knife.

  • Nice lookin' knife. A lot of that 2nd type of Kool, but out of my price range. Thanks for posting. Keep up the great work and keep sharing the knowledge!!!

  • @nutnfancy When you're drilling hardened stainless there's a trick with the drill bits... don't buy cheap carbide ones make SURE it's a submicron grade carbide (if it's under $7 a bit it's not submicron generally) and don't run it faster than about 200rpm

  • @shalafi4 And all other TNP'ers Good point and good info- RPM's are important, however feed speed is critical too. Hard to do in a drill press.(with peck, coolant choice) I would never run my carbide with out my Mori CNC. When drilling / milling hard material. Just can't beat a CNC and Kurt Vice. Carbide and hardened material is hard to manage for most home shops. Wear your eye protection as carbide will explode on breakage.

  • @BlueRidgeMarine I completely agree! or even a manual mill and a Kurt vice. and just to stress Blue's last comment. WEAR EYE PROTECTION... at work I have had a carbide drillbit shatter, go through my safety glasses and take a chunk out of my polycarb glasses. I would have lost an eye without protection no question.

  • I love the Rift! Great review.

  • @nutnfancy Hey Col. Happy Veterans day!

Thanks for your service to our Great Nation!

    Semper-Fi

    BR Marine

  • she's purdy, I'd keep it in my display case and carry something else.

  • Once again Nutn, great review. You sure have me spending lots of money! Still in school ya know!!! COME ON!!

  • she's a real beauty

  • The looks on the knife are awesome, but a little expensive for me as an EDC. 2nd type of cool fore sure. Thanks for posting!

  • thx for putting this video out... im kinda getting turned onto knifes which is scary lol

  • I like the blade shape but the handle kills it for me.

  • For what it's worth, you mentioned using carbide drilling bits on your liners. Don't use carbide if you're going to try and drill Titanium liners, it will get hot and create a buildup of Titanium Carbide on the edge, dulling it. Use cobalt for Titanium liners. A little trick with the Carbide on steel btw, if you have an air compressor, use a air based coolant system and if you have a variable torque on your drill

press go low speed high torque.

  • Nutnfancy! I would like to contact you through some sort of method. I'm writing a paper, for college, on how Americans perceptions have changed in regards to the 2nd amendment .

  • Cool review but the knife itself just doesn't tickle my "fancy" lol....thanks nutn for the informative review, as always. Looking forward to some more awesome reviews.

    Peace

  • Hey Nuntfancy, could you review the blackhawk cqd mark 1 ???????????

  • twenty nine would be 209 not 2009

  • One advantage to the RIFT you failed to mention, and maybe the reason for the shoulders of the handles being 'sharp' is that the RIFT is SLIM. I too noticed it was heavier than expected.

  • I think you should leave the other video. Just another data point.

  • Comment removed

  • NUTN!!! can you review a Glock .50GI?? or anything to do with that specific conversion. i feel like i can never find a good video review when i scour through the endless masses of videos on youtube

  • I have a benchmade in 154CM and I HATE that steel. It won't hold an edge for shit. I'll probably end up making an O-1 blade for it.

  • @ArtistBlade1972 ummm, are you sure? are you the one sharpening it? That might be the problem. but as they say different strokes for different folks... good luck

  • @rickpayne90 Oh I'm positive I hate it. Yes I sharpen it, but I am a knife maker so I know how to sharpen. Thing is, I can get it razor sharp and after 10 cuts through 3/8" manilla rope it won't even shave arm hair...

  • You gotta keep the old one. Shows that you arent blowin smoke when you say you might change your opinions, all the more real dude.

  • Great vid again, thanks for covering value in your reviews, really help the buyer. Who picks out the good music in your reviews, you or Veri?

  • great video nutn and veri keep up the great work

  • the drill would have worked if you woulda have peck drilled it. I dunno if u did or not but on hardened steels you cant just drive it through. even slowly.

  • I have a 950-1 Auto Rift. I don't like using the Axis Auto system...doesn't feel natural.

  • Great thorough review nutn. I agree, a real sweet high quality knife.

I like a blade that can rust just a little if you don't care for it. Means they pushed the steel to the hilt on holding an edge. The way it holds up to the Psyco (the movie, specifically the shower scene, lol) on the boxes trick is pretty nice.

  • oh man.....DAT CAMO.

  • mann calm down on the caaaa chooos

  • I've had a 950 for about a year and half now and I do love the knife. But as Nutn has said many times in the past, "The heavier knives I start to leave at home." And the same has happened for me with this one. It's become more a safe queen than anything. And it does quite well in that role, it is indeed beautiful.

  • How did you find the blade sharpness. I have been finding benchmade knives dull out of the box.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only adult that still makes plane noises with objects I hold! Great video nutn!
