into one of those 4x4 speakers like the ones bands use at concerts, is that ALL u use for the kickass sound? i mean wudnt you throw in a line of pedals for extra boost? eg metal master by digitech or metalcore by boss?
Essentially yes, I wouldn't use any of those heads, I have to be honest.
I use a crate blue voodoo mk2. I wouldn't use any other head at this stage. I also have a Marshall JCM2000 TSL, thats pretty nice as well. I used to use the Marshall all the time, but I have moved over to my crate for a number of reasons.
I am thinking of getting a visual sound H20 but apart from that, thats it.
Trust me, you don't need extra boost with the crate, I usually have the volume on about half live, if I turn it down at any time, I just whack it up to three quarters, but no higher.
I use two custom made 4x12 cabs. these were designed by me. They are unusually designed NOT to project far live. That is the job of sound guy. This way, the sound coming off stage does not interfere with the sound in the audience as much making for a cleaner performance. I usually run a small amount of the guitars through the house monitors.
I have my cabs side by side on stands about 20 or so inches off the ground.
so u using bridge pickup? i think pickups play a big part in getting the sound of what u aspire 2 / want i use emg, "Da Bomb" slipknot used them in the mm1 and i love their guitar sound JEEZ** i looked at your myspace and seriously dude make an album, i demand one real soon set up a link or sumthing, the singer is like iron maidens dude, u legend!! whats dimarzio like? im not the fender type, my personal choice is ibanez. make more songz man!! ETERNALWINTER!! ROX!
My honest opinion with EMG's...they are OK passive, but the ones that are active are just too loud. It sucks the life out of your tone and makes it very brittle.
The best compromise is dimarzio PAF pro passive pickups ands an EMG afterburner pore amp, that way you can dial in the amount of activeness you require. On the EMG standard models the preamp is set to full all the time.
This way you get the best of both worlds!.
That's what I'm doing, the preamp only costs about 35 quid
atm but so ur what kinda distortion are you utilising? ive got digitech metal master but
the s******** amp on the planet, single coils
are all good and well for pop and country but
they hate metal, my strat has single coils, how would i go about installing humbuckers
because i hav a plate that has thin holes for the strats sc 2 poke through, where would i get a plate for humbuckers? therz aload of wires so wud u need to solder?
The bridge pickup is a seymour duncan pearly gates, my second choice, I am gonna get a Dimarzio PAF pro in there soon instead.
The middle and lower neck pickups are from a Yamaha Pacifica 604. These are really bright alnico vintage pickups that do not like high gain. I use them for blues and country and sometimes jazz. If I session on pop recordings I sometimes use them there to.
the higher neck pickup is the neck pickup out of a specific 90's strat. I love that pickup!!!, they are gold dust!.
Yo dude! Just checked out Eternal Winters Myspace... I was blown away. One of the most original bands today! I dare you to come to Iceland and play for us vikings! That would be sick bro
Hey joe, like someone else said on an earlier video: I don't like this style of music, but you've got some huge talent in those fingers of yours.
I am not ready to even begin to attempt any of your lessons, but give me a couple of decades and I may get there. Rock on (in ever sense of the word)!!!!
well good! so understated.lol love the actual style too.

oh yeah and whats the tunings/strings ur using?
sounds like B or C
ive told loads of people but i use baritone strings and drop F or E 1oct cos i love HEAVY
jimboindahouse 3 years ago
It's d, standard d tuning.
I use only elixir strings, gauge 9.
I don't really like anything lower than C, it just gets to messy.
Remember , heavy means shit all without control!.

so u just use heads
eg
krankenstein head, randall head and plug them
into one of those 4x4 speakers like the ones bands use at concerts, is that ALL u use for the kickass sound? i mean wudnt you throw in a line of pedals for extra boost? eg metal master by digitech or metalcore by boss?

you have to trust the sound guy, he is the only person that knows what it sounds like.
Bad sound guys are endemic unfortunately.
Still, in any case, it is the best way to go.
joebot1 3 years ago
sound guy?
why would u use software?
so how bigs the crowd?
i checked out the crate and its NOT metal dude
seriously u need heads, they have their own
distortion and loads of other effects, check out the jcm800 marshall head.. slayer use them!!
so any1 could re create your sound by just
the voodoo?
jimboindahouse 3 years ago
The crate blue voodoo is as metal as any other amp on the market.
Marty freidman used a mark one on youthanasia.
you wouldn't use software...the sound guy is the guy at the back that balances the sound in the room through the PA.
PS, the crate is about ten times more metal than the JCM 800 mate. Slayer use loads of out board on top of that amp to get there sound.
joebot1 3 years ago
could u come and play a gig in wshire?

I use all my pickups!.
Yea, my battered strat only cost me 80 quid, it has locking tuners (95 quid) replacement pickups...all. Elixir strings (zing)
Yea a lot of pll say he sounds like Bruce lol.
Dimarzio's are like these but just a Little smother.
Ibanez guitars can be great but I just prefer something a little less flat, something rounder in sound.

yeah, so u gotta replace stuff. im kinda skint
atm but so ur what kinda distortion are you utilising? ive got digitech metal master but

I am just using my cube thirty practice amp, set to metal (not recto!!!)
On stage I use a crate blue voodoo, nothing else!!!. Through my custom cab (build around the Carlsbro classic cab with Celestion seventy 80's in it)
If it has slots for singles, why not just stick a single sized hum in it, like the Dimarzio hot rail etc.
Alternatively, you will need to use a scroll saw or a fret saw to increase the size of the hole for a hum.
joebot1 3 years ago
you can either have the pickup hard wired as a hum (like me) or attached to a switch (or push pull/push push tone pot) for coil tapping.
wiring varies with different manufacturers, it will come with a wiring diagram, there are only 4 wires and one earth usually.
Ps, you don't need to censor your swearing, if you wanna swear, fucking swear man!! lol
joebot1 3 years ago
WOAH!!!! your stuff is sooooooooooo orginal
at first i was like ''not again *sigh*''
strats are soooooooo NOT metal but then
you played and blown me away!
your myspace is kickass and so is this.
what pickups are they? i might try and get them intergrated into my 1.

what tuning is that bro ?
BigPimPnoy 3 years ago
D.
It feels nicer to me and sounds kooler.
It also tends to make the harmonic overtones from string to string more even.
Don't do out for my intonation though lol.
