@07CJ07 Sony's has proposed things that set a dangerous precedent in regards to consumer rights and fair use. Its a slippery slope taht could lead to very bad limitations on what the consumer does with their computer devices (seek information). It would be exploited for financial gain, and you'd have to have multiple cells, computers, consoles, smart phones etc in order to access everything you wanted because some devices would bar you from accessing that content, if any at all.

THIS is what's going on for those who dont understand or are to stupid to seek out an answer instead of making up wild Xbox vs PS3 assumptions.
PS3's main selling attraction was its 'Other-OS' Capabilities (Look it up) this allowed customers to purchase a PS3 and use it as a complete multimedia suite/Computer.
Sony then released an update which disabled 'Other-OS' which, if this happened to you, youd be pissed.
Anonymous is a group of hackers that are taking a stand to correct this.

So ps3 give internet browser, movies, songs, tv channels, games and pictures, nearly every source of media, what more do u actually want. U get a GAMES console to play GAMES. I really don't care about any other than that. The Other-OS Feature made the PS3 MORE than a gaming console, and for it's price it was a damn good computer with mod-high specs.
Not everyone in the world has the kind of funding to own both a computer and a gaming console so they just get a computer, the OTher-OS feature in the PS3 was a god-send as this helped many MANY other people.
This is far beyond gaming piracy, Anon don't want to bring back Other-OS for illegal games, they want what they paid for!

And taking away a large feature is also known as false advertising.
It would be like Purchasing a large Sony TV, only to find out that it cannot receive any TV Signals because you could potentially record the tv shows.

Sony also entertained the idea of a fucking "kill switch" in the console so they could remotely brick violated systems. Thats not legal.

@07CJ07 Regardless of TOS, Sony cannot remotely sabotage my console. Its illegal for any company to deliberately have that kind of control of a product rightfully purchased by a consumer. @07CJ07 Sony's has proposed things that set a dangerous precedent in regards to consumer rights and fair use. Its a slippery slope taht could lead to very bad limitations on what the consumer does with their computer devices (seek information). It would be exploited for financial gain, and you'd have to have multiple cells, computers, consoles, smart phones etc in order to access everything you wanted because some devices would bar you from accessing that content, if any at all.
