I love the passion in the words about each player. These guys only come 'round once in an every couple lifetimes. Matter of fact, my son's name is Tris Franco. Guess who I named him after? I'm from Little Rock, and Speaker played for our Arkansas aka Little Rock Travelers back in the day before heading 2 Boston. Actually, he got traded in exchange for facility uses. Anyhew, Speaker's tha man.
hat he did for baseball after the strike and while Big Mac and Sosa were juicing and got the attention for the homerun chase, Griffey quietly and effortlessly dominated!
I just love the fact that you have Griffey in there. And I could go on and on about why he IS the best centerfielder period.... But to summarize.... Look at his numbers and what years they took place. While everyone else was juicing (CHEATING) and putting up huge numbers, Griffey did it all CLEAN! Take out the names and numbers off all those that cheated in the mid to late 90s and tell me how many MVPs, homerun titles Griffey would have. Griffey is so underrated, not cause of his play, but of w
Id hav to say cobb all-around (cuz i put him second overall in my Top 100) but i didn't really consider him a center fielder, i always thought he was right. But a close second would be Mays than probably Ted than Mantle.
Mays, Dimmagio had better careers than Mantle for a number of reasons, however, for speed. power, pure talent Mantle is not only the best centerfielder of all time but with maybe the exception of Ruth, the greatest natural ballplayer who ever lived.
Great Vid!!! Like always-very difficult to say who the greatest is or was.....
Pure field --Tris speaker...All around --Mays and Dimaggio---Pure Power--Mantle
..interesting about Snider..for a few years he was up near mays and mantle--but I dont put him at that level for a career...still--he was solid and was the power behind most of the great dodger teams of the 50s.
Tris Speaker still holds the career records for most doubles and most assists by an outfielder. After more than 80 years, that's impressive.
