For newbies like myself to Ubuntu this tutorial will help me reinforce the idea that obtaining the PPA key from third party developers who are launchpad members is extremely important. Instead of me fishing around in no mans land looking for authentications sources for untested software packages! Good job Matt!
Thanks for this tutorial, but I get an error message for package I can't find in the other sources tab:
W: GPG error: ppa . launchpad . net lucid Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY F44462BDF141B61E
Really Linux thinking backwards. They are geekish, making thngs unnecessarily complex. PPA, PGP, are we in the military? make things simple, I still dont know what the hell PPA is and why I can't update my ubuntu system anymore.
Thank you. Was looking to set up a Vala in CrunchBang and all of the instructions I found from google seemed outdated and hackish. This is strait-forward and works.
please, I am not as lucky as most. Xiphos tells me that there are no bible modules installed and offers to do it for me, I keep on telling it yes but at Install, nothing happens. Any help please?
Linux gives me knowledge, everytime i analyse it's actions, and trying to understand how things work, it gives me more & more insight on how this OS Functions work and on how it copes with different actions, Linux future is very bright, and involves you as user to work and think with it instead of against it
thanks for this screencast, it worked like a charm. a small note though: in order to avoid cluttering your system with useless files, it would be nice if you told the world that the the original keyfile can be rm´d after it was imported
hey, thanks for this video, i was wondering why my ubuntu installation keeps giving me error messages and this solved it. my question is, is this permanent? meaning everytime i install something from launchpad (PPA) i have to add their PPA key's in my Software Sources Authentication tab?
you kind of sound like wheatley from portal 2 :D

Cheers mate, getting so many updates for Jaunty the warnings were getting pesky.
Surely we could expand apt:url to click on a key in the browser type the password and add to the system in one step without saving to the disk?

After entering both the deb and deb-src and the PPA key the package manager still can find no trace of the files. Any ideas?

Are you using 64bit? Sometimes this happens to me when repos only have 32bit software such as Boxee grrrr
