  • I just love that kind of jazz. Especially those inside-outside stuff.

  • @kabzoni Thanks Kanał, I appreciate your comment.

  • obviously d minor, then goes to an Ab #4?

  • This is very cool! May I ask what are the changes for this tune?

  • Amazing. 5 stars .

  • I play keyboard for my University's Jazz Ensemble for four years now. Whenever I see you have posted a new video I always watch and it inspires me to try harder. Please keep doing your thing.

    -Chris

  • @JazzzMonsterr Thank you Chris, your comment is greatly appreciated!

  • Hello. Gabriele Grillo is grateful for the DVD which arrived in Italy. Prepare the second sends an email to LiveForMusic@hotmail.it ... so I take it

    Sarah Jackson ;)

  • love this tune. 1 of my favs ;D

  • theres gotta be a way to play a video at halftime then pitch shift back up an octave to play in original key just halfspeed…

I need to learn those runs in my own reality!

I guess our midi files can slow tempo but the visual of the vids are also helpful…

how to sync? what do you recommend?

  • @phunkfarm there are plenty of programs around that can change the temp without altering the pitch :)

  • hey man, I've checked out your vids over the year (one of the few people online who can back up their lessons with damn good playing!) and I was wondering if you had a PDF or leadsheet of the tune itself as I can't find one for the life of me and don't have much time to transcribe it.

Feel free to check out my channel for some stuff from my recital a year ago, I look forward to your next videos!

  • Maybe this is too much to ask, but you ought to give a tutorial on Coltrane's Countdown

  • Nice! Love it !

  • @GMD825 Thank you.

  • Why d minor?

  • You're simply an inspiration to me. Not that others here aren't but you always cover my favorite styles. Please keep it up! God bless.

  • @pianoxman Thank you LaMont, your comment is greatly appreciated.

  • killin :)

  • @gadjoproject I appreciate your comment.

  • espectacular!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent (as always)!

    ...Please do another version...faster!...

    Sincerely,

    Bill McBirnie

    (P.S. ...I'm NOT complaining!...)

  • Ha, ha funny! Thanks Bill.

  • Wow, I really dig that Roger! Your runs are coloured beautifully...

    Best,

    Karl

  • Thanks for your comment Karl!

  • ... when you see somebody making a great performance look "easy", you're in presence of a master... thanks a lot master for sharing your knowledge, I just got 3 of your packs, can't wait to start practicing, they come with so many tips to extract!... you got an apprentice jejejeje

  • @diggercr2 Thank you for your nice comment - greatly appreciated!

  • That added natural 6 on the minor 9 chords sounds pretty cool. I'll have to see what I can do with that.

  • You should have to play with the Pat metheny group....great

  • Great as always!

  • hey sounds great lot2learn. You might want to consider a more legato approach to your right hand lines. There's just a TINY bit of space that makes it sound a little too mechanical. Also try to "dig in" more if you can. Something that's difficult to do on a keyboard, i know. Of course these are subjective comments but something to consider that isn't discussed enough for jazz pianists. Your 16th note lines sound FANTASTIC but the 8th note ones could use a little more width.

  • thanks buddy, very helpful.

  • The mechanical sound that you are referring to may be result of the Band in a Box software used for the rhythm section. There is a lot more going on here that just fourth chords. I am hearing some diverse phrasing and articulation.

  • Why don't you post a video of you playing it? It's easy to be a critic isn't it?

  • my is not a critic... I think he's a genius but that is not the point. it's not a game. it's cold that's all. He memorized all this chords and use theme, ok... music is not a sport or a chess game with your brain limits. and pardon my english

  • I think completely different. I love this, don't matter whether it is on a guitar, for instance, spanish guitar which is my favorite kind music... that's exactly what u gonna get. because it's like every note, every little piece of sound is extremely important and the artist gives all his soul to that little piece of sound. My point of view though...

  • this is what happens when people talk about jazz that don't know anything about it. Also he's playing with band in a box AND on a keyboard. What do you expect?

  • holy shit i NEVER comment on these things... but... this. is. excellent. greetings from San Francisco, CA. my man!

  • I appreciate your comment.

  • Toca muy lindo!

  • Thank you!

  • Where in the hell did u come from? Before I pass away, I want to play like you and compose a symphony like Malcolm Arnold!

  • Quelle leçon pour moi qui suis fan de jazz et qui joue un peu de piano. Formidable et merci!!

  • Really nice Roger. You are never short of ideas. Thanks for sharing them. You are a great player.

  • This is my favorite Trane tune and guys rarely do it. Thanks for playing the hell out of it and posting a great video!

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • You are sick! I wish I could play like this before I die...

  • cool!!

  • Hi Roger, excellent work on this, you have really got the McCoy vibe down. Complete with the double time runs as well, very impressive. I love McCoy's solo on this tune the way he builds the intensity is wonderful.

What is wrong with Eb minor though?

    Cheers, David

  • wow, very cool Roger :)!

  • Grazie Roberto!

  • Swinging hard! I'm still planning to make that cd once the funds arrive. Will let you know. Can you upload something that has the George Duke vibe with the effects? This would probably, be the "nail in the coffin." Variety from a blues perspective is the key to me.

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • Thank you for the comment.

  • Lot2Learn, I still don't get your name!! Man you are INSANE!! Thanks for all your help!

  • Roger, I have a favor to ask. On these videos could you color code the left and right hand on the top keyboard. So it is easier to see what keys you are playing with which hand. Because plain blue is just hard. Great job on the song though. Haven't listen to Coltrane for a while now.

  • Roger, great job, man. I've actually been transcribing this in my head...how appropriate that you put this up! Great job. For some reason, though, the original in Eb minor does it for me more. Weird how key changes affects our mood. Check out my Solitude video when you get a chance.

  • Fantastc work Roger, is great to see that you post again new staff.

  • Grazie Alfonso.

  • I had to get away from all the noise on my favorite jazz radio station. My God, jazz is simply everywhere these summer days. Thank you for sharing Lot2learn.

  • Really nice!

  • I appreciate your comment.

  • That was amazing. McCoy heaven.

  • You are so good!!!

  • great! look forward to the next one.

    Is this right?

  • I'm pretty sure you got - except that it's condensed into 8 bars in each phrase. And lot2learn got eager to start soloing after the second go round.

  • Yeah, I kind of cut to the chase on this one.

  • great playing on such a hard tune !

  • Man....

I watch u and I get discouraged for my skill.

And tryst me I play too and seriously but your playing is intimidating at times.

    Very nice....
