Emitt Smith is the most overrated player in the history of the NFL. The Cowboys had the greatest offensive line ever assembled. The holes the Cowboys OL created were like high school, huge, gaping holes anyone could run through.
Jim Brown was great but he played against undersized defenders.
Emmitt Smith was excellent but he played on a dynasty with talent everywhere.
Walter Payton was a straight up beast but he did play on a great team.
Barry Sanders has the highest YPC of the NFL's top 5 career rushing yards leaders, and this is despite having the most negative yardage runs in NFL history and despite playing on an awful team.
Sanders is the most consistent and classy and talented RB of all-time.
Absolutely the best RB of all time. Unfortunately the numbers don't say say so because his career got cut short, but just look at him - there's no denying greatness!
@kirbdog92115 His career didn't get cut short, he retired early, cause he was sick of playing for mediocre teams and he didn't want to play for any other teams.
@kirbdog92115 It didnt get cut short, he ended it himself because he said he didnt feel like he loved the game anymore. Thats from an interview of his, wish he kept playing though, I personally dont think he was best all time but he is top three for sure
@Romer318 I'm glad he played when he did. These days everyone is pass-happy, and teams don't stick with one featured RB so much, we might have been denied some of Sanders' best runs. In 1998, Sanders' last season, 7 running backs averaged over 20 carries per game, including Jamal Anderson's record 410 carries. Last season, only 2 guys broke 20 carries/game.
Now think in your mind of a best Touchdown run by Sanders, and see if u dont end up saying 2 yourself "He was such magic, u no I dont think I could come up with 1 individual run he had".
Ive never seen Barry Sanders play before. I was too young. I know these are highlights; however, i am BLOWN AWAY by the amount of talent ive seen here. Incredible!
Damn Lions, if they wouldn't of sucked so bad, Barry would of never retired that early. Read about it, true story. He retired because he lost motivation to play out there, knowing they don't have a shot at winning. Still don't know how anyone could be 3rd all time in anything while only playing 10 years.
If Barry's Lions were even remotely close to being as talented as Walter Payton's Bears or Emmitt Smith's Cowboys, he would have put all the rushing records as far out of reach as Jerry Rice put the receiving records.
After getting the best touchdown of all time he would simply hand the ball to the reff and run back to the sideline. Not cocky at all. Such a class act.
@xMrHobo I completely agree I think the coaches should say something about players celebrating because high school and college coaches wont tolerate it.
Funny you mention this. I just watched another video where he juked about 83 players and stopped..handed the ball and tossed it to the ref. WORD TO ALL SUPER GANGSTER WANNABEES..You do not need to do the Macarena, the robot or some other classless "pay attention to me activity" you just need to do your job like Barry and hand the ball of like the TERMINATOR and say.."What's Next??" Best RB to ever step onto the field.
@cotillion Then we must get the Delorean time machine to bring him here. Just think of the madness the Lions offense can do that any Nfl team would fear.
Imma Cowboys fan and i love me some Emmitt. But this nigga was better than Emmitt. He may hold the all time rushing record but remember Barry only played 10 years to Emmitts 15. And Barry didnt even have a decent line, QB, or coach. Put Barry behind our 90's Cowboys line and he easily rushes for 20,000. Best pure RB of all time. HANDS DOWN!!!
i remember watching him everytime he touched the ball its atleast a gain of yards and the coolest part the lions had the worst o line ever so he was pretty much the whole team should call him barry "the lions" sanders
Barry sanders. the Master of the juke, the cut back, the greatest rb of all time. hands down. hes performing grand larceny every time he touches the balll
Speechless...i hope i can see that great of a running back soon. But the best in the league right now i think, is Larry Fitzgerald for the Cards. The shit he does is ridiculous. Sometimes its hard to believe someone can be that good. And then you watch a video like this.
I read in Sports Illustrated for Kids that he mowed his own grass and did his own grocery shopping. I thought back then grocery shopping is easy but I would hire someone to mow my grass. Nowadays I don't know if someone this famous can go grocery shopping or an insurance company would let him near a lawn mower. His feet are worth too much!
Barry Sanders needs to be Running back Footage study 101 at every meeting. Watch how he protects the ball during his stride and plans ahead to anticipate the next player and his teammates moves. You rarely see this quality of a run anymore. Check out the broken tackle on 1:35.
These shitty QBs. Barry doesn't need a QB. Add an extra defence man and just let sanders stand behind the defence and pass the ball backwards.

(2). Did you hear that Barry decided to carbonate and then market his urine? You might have heard of it, it's called "Red Bull."
