  • Got it. Kicked butt splitting wood for a winter trip along the Cumberland River in KY.

  • I can only get one, which do you recommend?

  • great videos bro! i have a question for you....what do you think of the Duane Dieter Master of Defense mark V. i have one and just wondering if you have done any test on it. thanks man....keep making the great vids!!

  • next.

  • which do think I should get since I only have the money to buy one?

  • the bk-13 is not 13" bro.

  • yes please do a review on the bk2

  • I dont know whether to buy an ontario sp5 or a becker bk9. they both cost the same where i'm buying them. any suggestions?

  • @325Shorty becker would have a stronger tang but the sp5 is full flat ground (better wood splitter) I like the sheath on the becker more but I would go with the sp5 :)

  • @dreamofher665 Thanks man. how about the RTAK2 or the SP5?

  • @325Shorty all three are great blades and would serve well I have never liked the looks of the rtac but its supposed to be good alot of the time the feel is what makes the difference (the worlds greatest knife is no good if it doesn't look or feel right!)

  • @dreamofher665 Thanks man, i think i would probably get the rtak2 because it seems like a good knife.

  • I dont know whether to buy an ontario sp5 or a becker bk9. they both cost the same where i'm buying them. any suggestions?

  • Becker is the coolest wood chopper.

  • ka-bar has taken up the BK&T name.

Ethan Becker is still improving the designs and there is a lot of discussion and active uses of on bladeforums. The knives have come a long way and are improving. The goal remains the same from what I see: Cheap blades that work hard and are amazing for what they are.

Will the stand up to a 300$ blade? Eh, it'd be close (lots of beckerheads customize theirs and THOSE I'd say yes) But... Still amazing value.

  • i wish nutnfancy would review a bk2

  • Back in stock on amazon. Google it. Thumb so everyone can see.

  • The BK2 is way over 2 inches in length, likewise the BK11 is nowhere near 11 inches. Was that ladies math you were using?

  • @slipdisc he was specifically speaking about bk7 and bk9

  • I attempted to split a thick, 4" limb, pounding the hammering pommel with a rock while I was out camping...three of the wing nuts holding the handles came off in the dark...it was 9:30 PM...not convenient!

It is big, heavy knife, and looks heavy duty...but useless now until I can get it fixed or buy another brand - Gerber?

  • @laproxl you are never supposed to use a rock dumb ass... use a tree limb.

  • HEY!!! I was wondering if you know where or if I could get a kydex sheath for my BK7, because the nylon sheath pure crap.

  • hey nutn ur discription says bk8 not bk9

  • I really need help deciding between the Becker BK-7 and the Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie. Noss from the knife destruction videos rated the Ka-Bar higher than a BK-9, yet the Becker knives have a true full tang. Which one is it? Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie or Becker BK-7?

  • KA-BAR NOW CARRIES THE BECKER BRAND!!!!!!

  • The 0170-6C steel is pretty much EXACTLY THE SAME asCARBON V steel, the specs are in Wayne Goddard's books, "HOW TO MAKE KNIVES" , it is as close as it can get, Carbon V was 0170-6c just under a trade name, and I have to say, 0170-6c is as good as it gets. The WESTERN W-49 was steel made of similar steel(chrome-vanadium) and it's FAMOUS for it's edge. The new KA-BAR 1095 Cro-Van, sounds a LOT like a chrome vanadium version of 1095, which it is, and I suspect close to 0170-6c, AND CARBON V!!

  • I hate the handle but nice knife

  • what do you think of the ka-bar versions?

  • @LBsharkfisherman The general consensus is that they are equivalent, and the sheaths are changing with the years. I own two of them and they do well. Among my knives, the bk7 is the one that goes in the woods the most. I have some higher end knives but it is very versatile.

  • Please do a review of the BK2! Thx!

  • Do you think the new Kabar versions are just as good as the old Camillus versions?

  • @XCritonX I would say dead even if not better ! :D

  • @XCritonX i have heard that they are better!

  • hey nutn

do you have any reviews or will you be planning on reviewing the Becker BK2?

  • @ilavatelli

Heh just bought a Bk2 to be honest, hopefully it turns out as good as most reviews say it is... Got it for 56 bucks! Amazon, great reviews seeing as it had 93 5 star reviews out of 113 and a portion of the rest were 4 star.If you want when I receive mine I can tell you my thoughts on it, been a collector of knives since I was six and I know a little bit about steels and more on the quality on the over-all blades.

  • @EmptyScorn

Yeah that would be great! Thanks so much! Would it also be possible to compare it to a knife of similar qualities that you currently own?

    Thanks again!

  • WD-40 dries bone dry so use oil to prevent rust

  • i watchs so much gun stuff and knife i ma going to get a gun liace

  • "Winter Time Ops"

  • hey nutnfancy

when you gonna review the Kabar Becker BK2 gen two, would love to hear what you have to say about the Kabar vesion as I know you like the kabar's

    cheers!

    Dave

  • hey nutnfancy when you gonna review the Kabar bk2

    cheers!

    Dave

  • ka-bar took up these knives and is making them currently. I gave away one bk knife I had the "brute" and it's running around 200 for a used one. Any idea on where to buy the kydex sheath for the bk9?

  • I would really recommend to pull the screws in the handle and apply some Loctite or similar adhesive. I was doing some heavy batoning and splitting with my BK9 and the screws come loose in no time at all. Happened a few times.

  • Those are decent manufactured knifes, but what you cannot get with a manufactured knife is what a hand forged knife can do ;). It's the PRICE that defeats a hand made smithed knife!

I charge 800$ for a big bowie. Not to be trolling here, but if you want to see what my hand forged knife can do. Go to my channel, and watch "Final Video". It's a bowie I made jsut in time for this Xmas to give to my brother in law who manages a 1000 acre game ranch.

Check the abuse and razor holding edge it has!

  • @CodyOebel

    yours looks very different though

  • I thought becker and ka-bar merged together

  • Can u review the Becker bk2

  • I can't wait!!!! My BK7 will be here in 2 days!!! Thank you Ka-Bar and Mr. Becker for the knife, and thank you Nutn and Veri for the reviews and answering our questions!

I hope my BK7 will be ok to baton with, does anyone know? I hope I didn't make a mistake by not getting the BK9, I just wanted a lighter knife and I liked the tip better. But still I want to do minor wood-processing (nothing like nutnfancy does though so I figure I'm fine)

  • @wmc1982 Yes it should be fine. You won't be able to split as big of logs but it will still perform well.

  • Ka-Bar makes them now fortunately and they're a 1095 now as well. Sears has them available right now. Just google the knife and click the 'shopping' link and you'll find several. You have to search for it as a "Ka-Bar Becker 9"

  • You are making it very challenging for me to pick the best for the money knife.either the BK7 or Cold Steel recon scout. Which would you,Nutnfancy ,choose? I havent held either knife but from the looks the BK7 has more actual blade strength because the grind doesnt take place until about 3/8" from the top of the blade.

  • What is the difference between a KaBar BK9 and a Camilus BK9??

  • @TheEpochofWar The Ka-Bar's hidden tang is skeletonized.

  • @antagonist42 I assume this was for weight and cost. Do you know if it is a negative for the design or function?

  • @jeffersontool I've never heard anything negative be said about it. It cuts back on weight and apparently doesn't sacrifice any strength.

  • Nutnfancy, you MUST get the Ka-Bar Becker BK-2. It is freaking amazing. It's stubbier than the BK-7, but the blade is about 33% thicker than these. It's like holding a freaking axe head.

Definitely my favorite of the three. The BK-7 and BK-9 are larger, but have much thinner blades. Not a fan of that. You will crap your pants when you hold the BK-2 in your hand and marvel at its awesomeness.

  • nice knifes beckers its a shame that they shut down

keep your knife sharp and your powder dry ~ josh

  • @mrsvinarich26

    Ka-Bar's making them now.

  • Just picked up the BK9 from US Cav after watching a few vids. Great reviews, thanks.

  • Ka-Bar® Becker Combat Bowie @ US CAVALRY

  • For anyone who's curious, there's a thread called "How To FAQ" in the BK&T subforum at bladeforums where Bladeite has a list of the Becker models Ka-bar's currently producing as well as others they're planning to bring back.

  • i always carry a knife incase i get into a survival situation, because you never know.

  • I want one of these. Also, I'm pretty sure it is still glass filled nylon for the default sheath, although I saw a kydex option somewhere.

  • kabar started where camilus left off they are still made in america and they are basically the same knife and they are now made by kabar i just ordered one so i have no idea what kind of sheath they come with nowadays

  • It's a nice knife. Although I'm more of an axe man for chopping wood, it's just more effective. A small 4-5" blade covers everything else. Of course if I ever come into possession of a lightsabre, all this shit goes out the window. :-P

  • the Bark river Bravo series seems to be a copy of the Beckers Design - with the exception of the Barkies being convexed

  • that bk9 is like 200 dollars in the uk 100 pounds pissed

    still a great knife

great vid nutn keep it up

    kind regards

  • @hikinguphigh order one in, I got a BK9 for 120 AUD imported from the US

  • wish the still made the patrol machete it was the best machete i have ever used and out performed my hatchet for chopping it was the most useful tool for survival

  • Cheaperthandirt has them. Kbar is making them. I think

  • i have a review and testing vid on the bk-9! i love them becker knives!

  • Ka Bar has been making the Becker. All they've done is change the name to Becker Combat Bowie. That's my little tidbit on knives; I'm kind of new on them.

  • Im going to buy the bk7, take the grivory handles off and replace them with paracord to match the sheath color i.e. green

  • I got the bk9 for my birthday, and will really help me in my outward bound trip.

  • I've got the BK2 - exceedingly rugged and an excellent camp blade

  • I have the Ka-bar BK 7. I will eventually make a new sheath for it and possibly make a video of it. I really don't mind the handle but the sheath is pretty ridiculous. I especially don't like the huge amount of rattle and the overly large size of the sheath. It is just under a quarter inch thick.

  • now Ka-Bar has them, in production... Would you recomend the BK9 over the Large Heavy Bowie, or visa versa?

  • They are available thru Ka-Bar as the Becke BK2, BK7, and BK9. Although they are NOT AS CHEAP, they average around $65-$80 (depending on size, but are still chopping like an AXE, at a 'reasonable cost'! Still wish they'd give us a better sheath, like the BK2 Companion comes with(fitted kydex with lashing points around outside), but still EXCELLENT KNIVES!

  • Nutn, Becker joined now with Ka-Bar. You should do a review of the Becker BK2 its an awesome knife.

  • I found BK9 on Amazon and ebay,10 of 10 video dude nice job

  • amazon has bk 9 for 70 bucks free shiping

  • My understanding is that these are now made by Ka-Bar. The BK2 is 1/4" and equip2endure does a number of hard use tests and finds that it is the equal if not better than the EESE RAT5. Not surprising as they are made out of the same steel as RAT and TOPS. Interesting that you can purchase buy both of these knives for the same money as a RC5. Yes they come with micarta handles and this has Grivory. 1095 steel tends to be 1095 steel. Sharpening/maintenance is the key...

  • I bought the BK7 years ago and still have it; paid about $35.00 for it new. Nice inexpensive blade that you can really beat up and not feel like you spent a lot of money on it, should you hit a rock or it gets lost on a camping trip. The worse thing about it is the grip which you can modify with a paracord wrap or some other handle system as people have shown here on the tube.

  • have a bk 9 and really love it, has taken alot abuse and still is fit,

  • Will you be doing a review and test of the BK2?

  • hey nutn how much you want for your bk9

  • Very very nice! If I can't find these on ebay I'll contemplate getting the busse nmsfno or a mercworx sniper.

  • I noticed that KABAR is now making these..Do they compare to these ones because i noticed that they are still calling them beckers, and yo uare the "knife god" of youtube so maybe you could tell me if a KABAR becker is worth the purchase!

  • Where can you get your blade reprofiled? Because I have a ontario rat 7 and i don't like the grind on it. Thanks.

  • yo nutn! can you please do a review of the Becker BK2?

    and the Becker Necker?

    thanks! awesome vids btw!

  • they are made by Ka-bar now, i personally have a bk9 and i must say its a very nice blade although its a bit more expensive now.

  • the steel on the ka-bar make bk9 is 1095 steel so they've made an upgrade

  • i believe a company is producing these again. cant remember which though.

  • Because the Becker line of knives were so well built and all out awesome. I'm sure the new owner of Camillus, Acme United, will recognize this and produce them, we could only hope. 0170-6 is actually comparable to O1 tool steel as opposed to 1095 HC steel. It's a little harder, holds an edge longer but is a little harder to sharpen than 1905HC steel. Leather, if treated correctly, doesn't retain water but it needs oiled from time to time. Kydex isn't bad, though.....

  • Will this be a good chopping knife

  • they are not gone u can buy them right now

  • 5/5

  • could you possibly do a video on the outcast by kershaw, the steel is D2 easily found out house of knives

  • Carbon steel. that is the shit right there next to titanium.

  • I just picked up a BK-7 myself. Been tooling around the woods with it for a few days. Only thing I can not stand is the damn sheath!!

  • ka-bar snatched up becker and are now making them for around the same price

  • good day sir, watched this old video and loved the ease of breaking down the handle to get the crud out. The tundra in and around fairbanks has a special way of getting into stuff. Found on of the 9" on ebay for 74$ and got it. Lookin forward to gettin out in the woods with it. Thanks again, God bless you and yours.

  • Would like to see a review of the Kbar Becker BK2 if possible, it has a lot of fans, would be nice to know if it's just hype or not

  • Would you mind reviewing the "new" Becker Knives produced by Ka-Bar? I know how much you love Ka-Bar for their value and thats why I love them as well. I really love my Becker Companion, but would like your take/opinion. Also, love TNP!!!!

  • Totally worth it I got the bk9 first, loved it so much that I replaced my recon scout and Ontario knives with these amazing knives

  • i know ka bar now make these but is it still worth it with the jacked up price?

  • Ka-bar hired Ethan Becker and now makes these blades again

  • I have the bk-3 and that has a 7 inch blade not 3 inch

  • Have seen Lehman's® Power Knife? $25

  • "IT SPLITS LIKE A MO'FO"

  • Beker Knives can be found on HEINNIE HAYNES web page if anyone is interested in getting them:

BK7 is BK Utility (around 90 Pounds)

BK9 is BK Survival (around 100 Pounds)

Both made from 1095 cro-van Steel. Good luck !!!

  • @Ouclypse What's a MO'FO?

  • @MariaDajcar its a mother !@#$er

  • are these the kabar becker knives they look like them??

  • @amac09100 yeah

  • no these they are the camillus version...

  • lol 5:05

  • folds?

  • anyone know why it's called BK2 not BK5?

  • the #s random but the bk= Becker Knives

  • sorry i forgot the # stands for the blade length

  • bk stands for becker knives and the numbers stand for the blade length :) bk9= 9 inch blade

  • i know that but the bk2 has a five inch blade not a two inch

  • what should i buy the bk7 or bk2 ????

  • Which is better? BK2 or BK7?

  • Correction on my previous comment (below). Becker is now a product of Ka-Bar

  • Becker has actually started producing blades again under their own name, i.e. free of the Camillus title and the BK9, BK7, and BK2 are all back in production. They are however a bit hard to find

  • I just picked one up on Amazon for 79.95. Your corner store has them for like 71.00 - 74.00 but its hard to catch them in stock. I don't mind the price diff if I can order it. And voltron6434, I'd buy the knife and put it through the motions before you say the knife is a POS. Lets act older than 16.

    "Who Dares, Wins"

    Shadow

  • hey guys i need help :O ive been lookin around nd have made a choice between 2 knives :P what do you think i shud get an ontario spec plus air force or a kabar becker Bk2 campanion ????

  • ka-bar is making them but they are a lot more expensive than those were

  • @pujolsrocs5 Camillus had an MSRP of $96 for the BK-9 four years ago. KA-BAR is selling theirs for $115. That is hardly what I would call "a lot more expensive."

  • nice

  • whats your job

  • ka-bar is makeing them now apparently.

  • sweet

  • Eh dude nuntnfancy kabar makes the "becker" now and I'm getting one i cant wait its getting shipped right now!

  • 5/5, nice video!

  • Thanks, grantman! -- Veri

  • hey nutn, I picked up the bk 9 "bowier" made by K-bar. I've compared it to my campion and the blade is thinner. Is this what you've noticed with your bk9? Also, would you re-profile the edge? I love your reviews and have used them as a reference for buying some items. Please let me know when you can

  • @campcomp00 The reason why the BK9 appears thinner than your campanion is because it is. The BK9 is 3/16" thick, and the campanion is 1/4" thick.

  • AfroJew6969, I have the Cutlass Machete from Ka-Bar which is made in Taiwan and love it. Good Quality Control over seas.

  • How much would it cost (roughly) to get Razors edge to re profile the bk7 for me? I want it to be razor sharp. I trust that Fitzen or Chopper would do it right, and make it "to your standards" so to speak.

  • I meant the BK9, the big Bowie.

  • it's called CA-MILL-US .....not CAM-ILL-US

i would know cause i live there

  • Cheaper than dirt has them for sale for around 80 bucks.

  • I'm so glad KA-BAR has taken over to keep these knives in production. I have been wanting one for quite some time, I just questioned them. I have never heard of Bekker knives until a short time ago. Now, when I have the money, I am getting the combat bowie. Looks great for camping/ survival.

  • The reason the "thumb ramp jimping" is rounded, is because it its intended use is not a thumb ramp. While I'm sure it can serve in that capacity if you prefer that type of grip, designed function is to strike fire starter rods.

  • KaBar Knives are the best for your money and quality and Made in the USA.

  • not always in usa i have a ka-bar made in Taiwan. good quality but not always made in America.

  • it's nice to see that KABAR makes these now!

  • hey bud, what do you think about the BK2?

  • You should look for the Becker BK 2 (now made by Ka Bar) AWSOME KYDEX SHEATH!!! (Glass filled nylon actually) AWSOME BLADE!

  • becker is now teamed up with ka-bar

  • The ONLY thing I hate about the BK9 is the sheath. The knife sits loosley and once you unsnap the loop, the knife comes flying out.

  • Cam ILL us, is how the locals say it, not

    CAM ill us.

I actually visited the old factory in Camillus NY when I was a kid.

  • It's like you can kill a pirate with that knife..

  • I have a Becker 7 and purchased it from Tomar Knives. Tomar has the best buys for Ka-bar knives to say the least.

  • Hey Ka-Bar makes the Becker knives now.

  • nice

  • The wing nuts came off the BK7 handle when I was hammering it into a 7" limb that had been sawed almost halfway thru . Could not find them in the dark.

Somewhere along the line that same night, I chipped a ¼ in the curved part of the blade. My bad, I may struck it with an axe blade.

    I sent Ka-bar several e-mails about the warranty...no response.

My next fixed blade knife will be the Busse Skinny ASH 1.

  • hope they make that one again

  • Comment removed

  • 2:05 if you paid attention

  • They are now made by KA Bar

  • As you all know ka bar is now selling the becker knives check out their site they have now launched the micarta handles for becker knives.

  • 0170-6 (sharon) is 1095 CroVan, or what Cold Steel called Carbon V.

But it is not 1095, it is modified 1095. It is a lot closer to 52100 than it is 1095, (as it is AISI named 50100-B, they are extremely close steels, so close it is almost impossible to tell the difference)

  • bk2 ftw

  • I've picked up 3 Ka-Bar Beckers...BK-2, BK-7 and it's BIG brother the BK-9. Excellent knives. Heavy? Better believe it! And heavier duty! Full on! Feel like I'm armed with the knife equivalent of a Bazooka when I've got one of them strapped to my side!

  • Ordered a BK7 a week ago, and it just came in. I am thoroughly impressed! Good heft and weight to it, not to mention that it was sharp enough outta the box to shave hair off my arm. Looking forward to taking it out into the bush next weekend to see what it can do!

  • Great review, Nutnfancy. I got this knife yesterday after weeks of looking at different knives and watching many of your reviews. It was $90.00, but they knocked off 20% for a Father's Day sale they were having, so I managed to get out the door with it for $74.00. Thanks alot for taking the time to do these videos, everyone really appreciates it.

  • have the bk9

with a swiss tool and a magnesuim fire starter always wth me when im outdoor here in germany

perfect for the money. and awesome
