  • I totally agree with PITA on that one. This is why there are genres of music, to classify together music with similar characteristics, this doesn't mean that they are all copying each other. Whitacre does not own dissonance.

  • love this masterpiece. suddenly all my worries go away

  • Mmmmmmm

  • why do i always cry?

  • While I'm a huge fan of Ticheli, I can't help to think that he stole a lot from Whitacre in this one.

  • @JWFTW69

FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE THAT AGREES WITH ME!

Although Ticheli's concert band music is extremely original.

  • @JWFTW69 I understand what you're saying, but that's like saying that I, as a composer, have stolen from Haydn because we have both written pieces in the key of G major. Yes, this piece is similar to the style of many whitacre pieces and, yes, it is true that composers do often times take ideas from other composers. HOWEVER, if that didn't happen, then you would almost never hear beautiful music like this. I don't care what anybody says, Ticheli is brilliant, especially with this piece.

  • you would have to be a stone to not let this move through your soul...

  • It's ironic how a song about the earth can sound so heavenly.

  • @mikedaguy maybe it means that heaven is here on earth.

You just gotta look for it.

  • which choir is this?

  • When i first started watching this, i thought it would randomly turn into screamo...

  • If i were a country, this is my national anthem. sang at every sporting event.

  • we played this in concert band this year. despite those who lack respect of tuning, it was incredible :)

  • love this.♥ i listen to this everyday. my aunt conducted her choir in europe to this.♥ beautiful.♥

  • I listened to this with my eyes closed and it was like the gates of heaven were opening

  • Try to type this on the Youtube search box this and please comment :

SBP WOC Prelimineries 2011 - Sekolah Dato Abdul Razak - Golden Festival Overture

  • I want this sung at my funeral

  • listen to this then listen to sanctuary. that's pretty cool

  • My PMEA region v chorus sang this song, and, OMG, was it beautiful. I will remember this song till I die and it will be sung at my funeral.

  • my chorus is doing this and it sounds so beautiful

  • My choir's advanced group sang this. Totally blew me away :)

  • this was the best 3 minutes and 41 seconds of my life.

  • {{{TEARS}}} omg its soo beautiful....ticheli is a beast i never kne he made vocal compositions too!!!!!

  • Is this Polyphony?

  • nothing compares to american elegy though

  • dont mean to ruin the mod but this song reminds me of the movie avatar at the end during the war scene. And my choir is singing this for our winter concert too.

  • he borrows the music phrases to make his own music.

he's said so himself. there are plenty of ways to view that,

but one thing is for sure. music is NOT original anymore.

whatever we think of now in this contemporary era has been

done. so technically we are borrowing music now. it is not

our. ticheli has accepted that .

  • similar style to Eric Whitacre

  • @Lewiogo Which is why I love this song :)

  • Ticheli has to be my favorite modern day composers. He writes the most amazing, abnormal pieces that Make the music world more powerful. :D

  • This is like my most favorite accapello piece

  • Probably one of the world's most beautiful pieces ever!!!!

  • @mathmusicandlooks no i think that water night by eric whitacre is the best piece ever!!!! :) i love that song so much but my high school band is playing this song for our opener!!!! :)

  • martinsville high school went to gatlynburg national with this song. such beauty. it is such a constant reminder to me that no matter what happens, no matter how much you are hurting, no matter how much pain you see in the world around you, there is peace. Much like a single star may shine bright in the infinite voids of space. Though there is so much darkness, one can be led, and cannot help but notice that one shining star.
