Oh yeah and the little round caps fall off just foward of the rear begs, I ordered a few of them and the hand grips are not stock as well no big deal the stock ones used to slide after a long ride. The only bike at the time that could catch me was the Vmax and he had to be a good rider. LOL I had fun on this bike she is fast so be careful. It's hard to get the front wheel off the ground due to it's wheel base but it can be done, so like I said be carefull. See ya
@James1toknow Keeping the front wheel on the ground by design is a plus in my opinion. This bike could smoke half of the plastic frat boy bikes on the road today simply bc the wheels stay where they belong. :-)
@JavaDevJPC Yeah I liked the bike in my opinion the bike was ahead of it's time very nice for one rider but two on the bike for long rides can take a toll on your rider.
I miss it I had a lot of fun with this bike and she looked good.
@James1toknow Ya. Not sure if you seen the other comment I added today but there is a chance I may be able to buy her back from the guy I sold it to. Somehow I ended up at his house yesterday to talk about getting it back and he was open to the idea but wanted to think abt it. He has several bikes and a couple project bikes to keep him busy. I am hoping that he wants to sell it back. I am already familiar w/it, it has low miles, and I don't have to travel far to get it. :-)
@JavaDevJPC I looked at your post after I made the comment and then realized your not the guy that was selling the same bike in New Jersey, LOL but none the less it's a nice bike and I'm thinking about buying that one, good luck with yours. ( Ride safe!)
@James1toknow As soon as I seen it sitting there in his shop I just wanted to start her up and take her for a spin. :-) I've tested a couple other newer bikes (600-883cc) and they don't even begin to compare to the thrust/torque that the ZL900 has. Even in 6th gear on the highway you can roll on the throttle a little and throw your head back. It's just an incredible bike!
@James1toknow Hey I picked up a short, dark tinted headlight fairing that looks pretty bad ass (along w/new mirrors). I'll put up a part number later so others visiting this video can get the same thing for theirs if interested. Also //TODO: Add new pics to video of my new old bike, for the 2nd time. :D
@focusutube I got back what I paid for it exactly (minus the cost of the trip) It didn't leak anything. Its been a couple years almost since it's been gone. I miss it. I might try to buy it back in the future.
No. I guess that was the only non-stock thing on it. I dont know, and never looked at what the stock grips looked like but had someone tell me once in conversation that he didnt think they were stock.
@JavaDevJPC Sold my zl900 ('85) in mint shape with 20,000 kms on it 2 years ago and wish i didn't. Bought a 1200 harley roadster and love it too, but totally different rides. Gonna get another zl900 sooner or later. Too much dam fun to not own one again.
@eavenman44 Ya I miss it mine too. I sold it bc my wife was preggers at the time and I knew it would be a couple yrs before I could ride it. Luckily I sold it locally. The guy who bought it is a nice guy and not someone who "tears up" a bike just bc its fast. He has several bikes and seems to be pretty good at restoring older bikes as a hobby. Well somehow I made my way to his place yesterday and asked him if he'd be interested in selling it back. It sounded like he was open to it. :-)
I really wish Kawasaki would consider remaking this bike (in a similar image).

I just bought mine about 2 weeks ago, and after a good carb rebuild, this is one HELL of a bike. I am completely blown away by it...
