I'd know I shouldn't be trolling with my literary snobberry, but I just wanted to say, it looks like this game isn't a substitute for reading the epic poem. If Harold Bloom knew there was a Dante's Inferno he would die instantly of cultural defeat, his last words the same as Kurtz's in the "Heart of Darkness"..."The horror, the horror." I mean in the third installment of this game, which would need to be "The Paradiso" I guess Dante fights God as the final boss.
This game is awsome.....awsome story line awsome gameplay but i thought it was too easy. i beat the game on the hardest difficultly hours if i remember correctly it was hellish. but i beat it in 6 hours. But still man In hellish those damn babies are ass holes!

Great game, but turned shit towards the end. The Malebolge was the lazyist designed level I've ever seen. And it wasted some excellent boss uppertunities (Pluto being a puzzle instead of a boss for instance)

If you play the game, they even say to the effect ingame that each man's heaven and hell are of their own mind/religion. That's why Dante asks at one point why none of his Muslim enemies are in hell with him, and Satan says something like "This is your hell, not theirs..." implying that they also have a heaven. I know you're not bashing it, but just to let you know, I've read the Divine Comedy and it really is a fantastic trio of poems, but at the same time I love this game aswell because it's different. First and foremost it's supposed to be an entertaining action game, therefore it's not inclined to be exactly the same as the Commedia. If it were you'd just be walking around for hours with Virgil, which would be a tad boring. Also, at 1:30 that's Cerberus, not Lucifer :P.

@Dr3amHD No, the game is based off off Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy" which is split into three parts that describe the after life: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. So this game is based off of the first book "Inferno" which obviously means hell. In "Inferno" hell is described as horridly as in the game. And I'm guessing they named Dante in the game after Dante Alighieri. But in the game Dante is a knights templar in the holy land during the crusades.

The music is EPIC, the violence is amazing, the gameplay is simple but effective, the boss battles are also EPIC... Hell, this game is just EPIC. I strongly suggest you try it out. You even get to fight Satan himself!

@MaskedKane95 What are you talking about? They don't attack other religions in the game. If you play the game, they even say to the effect ingame that each man's heaven and hell are of their own mind/religion. That's why Dante asks at one point why none of his Muslim enemies are in hell with him, and Satan says something like "This is your hell, not theirs..." implying that they also have a heaven. So, no, i don't think it is sectarian at all.

@Maqqa27 I'm not trying to sound pretentious, believe me, I love me some blood splattering, gut carving action! I just feel that they could have properly adapted Dante's Inferno into a video game format and with some love and RESPECT they could have made a kick-ass game.
But no, rather they seek to make a God of war/Devil May Cry/whatever clone and tag the most exciting part of the Divine comedy on it to give the impression that it's gonna be a unique and edgy experience.

So, I'm not sure if it's the first or second, but I remember when they first gave out the trailer for one of the two, I saw a commercial of Dante and a blonde women who was reaching out to him and he was trying to save her and it had this melodic, very soothing song. Where is it? D: Help me please.

I know you're not bashing it, but just to let you know, I've read the Divine Comedy and it really is a fantastic trio of poems, but at the same time I love this game aswell because it's different. First and foremost it's supposed to be an entertaining action game, therefore it's not inclined to be exactly the same as the Commedia. If it were you'd just be walking around for hours with Virgil, which would be a tad boring. Also, at 1:30 that's Cerberus, not Lucifer :P.

I wish they stuck with the Cerebus they have in this trailer. I dont think you need to make something look all decayed in order to make it look scary. For me scary is more like surreal and crazy looking, like they gluttony level they have here.

@Dr3amHD No, the game is based off off Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy" which is split into three parts that describe the after life: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. So this game is based off of the first book "Inferno" which obviously means hell. In "Inferno" hell is described as horridly as in the game. And I'm guessing they named Dante in the game after Dante Alighieri. But in the game Dante is a knights templar in the holy land during the crusades.

The music is EPIC, the violence is amazing, the gameplay is simple but effective, the boss battles are also EPIC... Hell, this game is just EPIC. I strongly suggest you try it out. You even get to fight Satan himself!
