I really liked the movie, I watched it 11 and a half times, lol! Some people really did not like it, though I can't think why. It was a really great movie, definitely recommended.
@SquirrelLoverChick Likewise! ^_^ Honestly, the original Astro Boy/ Atom didn't even interest me one bit, until I watched this film and felt great sympathy for the character.
I loved ZOG! What about you? Which one was your favorite character?
@Vernedi I think ZOG is awesome. He's voiced by Samuel Jackson. My favorite character? Well, I think all three of the RRF robots are hilarious. And the doctor with the big nose is a bamf.
Who is this "Kora" chick? You remember her? I sure dont....I really wish he didnt have a love intrest, that just ruins movies like this I think. But still its my man astro boy! Even if he is voiced by Freddie. Ima gunna see it! And Im glad to see the ass!guns back again X3
Aye, and the 2003 series covered the evil Tenma. But the point is the film seems to eschew traditional villains of Astro Boy in favour of some more original ones. I've seen no sign of Atlas, an evil Tenma, or Skunk. Only Ham Egg seems to have made it. It's not a big deal to me, giving Astro a movie is awesome and hopefully will make the character more popular here. But still it leaves me wondering why even Atlas was removed.
I've already read the IDW comic adaption, and it looks like the movie is a retelling of Astro's origin, with the Robot Circus run by Hamegg (now more of a robot dogfight, ala Battlebots) with Mr. Evil Government Man thrown in probably to give Dr. Tenma a foil. "Sure, Tenma was a jerk for throwing Astro out, but THIS GUY IS WORSE!" And to provide a conflict for the climax. ;)
If this movie does well, I'm sure we'll get to see more classic villains like Blue Knight or Pluto in a sequel. ^_^
I agree that an anime adaptation would be far better than this movie, but I'm willing to give this one a fair chance. I'm really looking forward to it as opposed to TMNT which was kind of disappointing. Anybody else agree with this?
We had an anime adaption 3 years ago, and then 20 years before that, and then 20 years before that... I think it's time we switch things up a little ;)

he's no megaman but Astro Boy is good on his own right and worth seeing even if it was made more kiddie then it should be

Astro Boy was the inspiration for Mega Man
skrcha 2 years ago
@fedykin87 actually hes more megaman than you think because the creator of megaman was an astro boy fan and he based megaman off of astro boy
astro boy was around way earlier than megaman around the 1950s and also astro boy has adult stuff look up the pluto comics

Anyone want to point out that Astro's dad has served as a villain in previous incarnations of the franchise?
DoctorWhoFan70 2 years ago
He was a villain in the original manga, and then later in the manga he reformed and became a good guy, in the form of a trickster mentor.
