thats a serious beam. I guess it was required for the third level. I used 5 laminated 2x12 over an 18 foot span. I figured the 5th 2.12 was over kill. but i only have a living room and dinning room above the basement.. Great vid.
I am trying to find a video that shows how to remove reinforced concrete wall. That stuff is nowhere to be found.
I don't get how this wooden 4x6 stuff acts as a load bearing structure. I type in "load bearing wall" and all I get is hollow drywall stuff. Doesn't anyone use concrete as a load bearing structure?

I was going to go with giant header but would have had to place one of the lally columns through duct work and in the middle of a finished basement bedroom. Thus, I went with 15 LVL sister joists. What was the cost of the header? I've never seen one like that. One of my major costs if had used a header was the steel beam.
