Yo this video was fucking dope man! Such a classic song... Wish new rappers would actually listen and learn from the visuals Nas paints in his songs...
That video was dope. One of my favorite nas tracks ever. Originality at its best, a clever story wit beginning middle and end. Todays rappers need 2 take notes on what makes a good song.
Yoooo just droping by to show love and to let you know a bit about the LETHAL MCZ. We're an up and coming hip hop movement from Miami. We just droped a new remix to Nas's HERO. Open your ears for our 2 cents and let us know what you think. Subscribe and comment for feed back. Much Love and God Bless
Loved the video man, it was visual and the point that the class should have gotten is that guns don't have a voice when it comes to violence, black on black or otherwise. Hope you got an A for this project.
Good Work! A+ from the Hip Hop Facilitator! Another piece or urban art that compliments this (Song) Master Piece is a movie called "Strapped" starring Fredro from Onxy. I forgot the Director, but should definitely be used with this song to raise awareness on the gun violence issues destroying inner cities all over the world! Great Job and thanks for contributing to the culture.
@UptownChamps strapped, directed by forest whittaker, fredro and bookime woodbine from dead presidents is in it, its a ill ass movie i agree with you bro
Nas is my favorite rapper of all time! He speaks the truth. He needs to be awarded an honorary PhD in black studies and teaching black history at somebody's university!
@CardiacArrest82 lol hell yeah, man. He comes real as fuck with the it. some foul, real shit. Who else can introduce the public to to and depict the harsh realties of the very volatile relationship of a black man in the hood and his relationship with his gun, which is often his god, his protector, his best friend in ways.
yeah that sex scene made it hard for me to take the rest of the video seriously. It didn't capture the mood the song was trying to portrait...It can be done I just think you need to mess with the camera angles a bit more and the lighting. And show that the story is being told from a guns point of you...I love all the street shots though. Good job!
He shows how a man can be turned into a bitch by force.... Love this rapper! Hes exceptional! Talks ´bout the real world. Strong ppl gets stronger by wading on the weak. Now, whats wrong with this pic?
@gavpac911 Sure just tell me what the metaphor is. I know The story is in the first person view of a gun, but thats not a metaphor. So what Is the metaphor?
@InfamousAct the metaphor is that hip-hop music is powerful like a gun but it is being misused to kill Black people instead of being used to elevate Black people.
@dudemoya yea the first person view of a gun but the metaphor is the barre; is his dick i bust off... so lol when he compares it too his dick its just fuckin wierd lol
This scenery was certainly in accordance to the visual atmosphere the lyrics were attempting to convey. Great job to all involved in the portrayal o' this tall tale. 1r'z!
Dudeeee this is one of my favorite fuckiing songs.... Wayyyy Legiit i thiink this joint is raw as a motha fucka.. stay upppp.. one question.... why didnt you use a desert eagle?
@Cmay68 Yo the degree of ignorance in the hood, you know them lil wild niggas that just want a strap, look like it a lil dude who picked up it and ran
@Cmay68 he probably doesn't literally mean that another person grabbed him right after the murder. He's probably trying to say that even if the gun was taken by the police into custody, it doesn't get kept forever or destroyed. It ends up in the streets again and it starts all over again...
Because the story's about the ghetto and poverty and drug dealings and murders is what happens in the really rough areas and the one who "grabbed" the gun was a poor person and needed protection.
Nice video man I love the bit at the end. I gotta agree Nas is probably the best lyricist out there only rivalled by Slick and Biggie. I just have one question did you show the sex scence in front of your class lol?
@JerseySean666 imo i would nvr [icture biggie ever comparing to Nas. i mean just listen to them. nas has so much more emotion, intellect, and meaning in his song. but thats just me
@bonkermcsteelo yeah biggies a flower not a lyricist (in the way nas is). Thats a mistake ppl make thinkin biggie is a lyrical type rapper. He uses wordplay and flow not metaphoric complex lyrics .
@fmcneillii idk bout that, nas is pretty lyrical, but i see what point you were trying to prove, cuz his flow overtakes his lyrics, but he is still in tune w/ his rhymes at the utmost level, . . . better than anyone i know of, bcuz u can be a lyricist w/ no flow . . .thats called a "Non Rapper"
@yonkers43 Ok well wat i mean is when biggie rhymes he is lyrical but he is not
really more lyrical (IMO) than say a tupac. His rhyme and flow is more creative but when makes a rhyme the concept expressed is not more complex than a song like me against the world. I not knocking biggie (or pac) at all its just he not What I think of as lyrical like everyday struggle is a great song and juicy and suicide (one of his deepest)
@yonkers43 but is it lyrical like NY state of mind? not really but the flow and cadence is remarkable he knows how to rhyme but he's not writing this detailed picture like nas(while still having flow) thats lyrical in my eyes. biggie does it with flow and witty word play dont get me wrong nas, big and pac are among the very best ever but nas In a class in his own like rakim and a couple other lyricist when it comes to that (IMO)
@yonkers43 Dont get me wrong I know biggie is great lyricist in general. I mean I've heard his work but being lyrical to me is being detailed and maintain that flow. When nas raps its like he couldn't have been any more detailed similar to other lyricist. I hear biggie and its his timing and flow just knowing wat to do. He had charisma and great rhyming ability which flowers usually have but nas's rappin is about how well he paints a detailed picture u kno.
@JerseySean666 Nah biggie is not lyrical hes a flower like method man...Big L, GZA, Rakim, inspectah deck and guru are examples of true lyricist. Biggie never really got lyrically he had great flow and creative ways of rapping but wasnt lyrical because his raps werent as complex and metaphoric as guys like nas. No doubt the greatest flower tho and a true MC.
dunno, lol. Needed a way to fill in that part so I figured to put a scene in there where it kind of foreshadow what was going to happen, that the gun knew what was coming next cause its a cycle.
I used to work there and I knew the ladies working. Also I know a lot of the cops in my town. That wawa is open 24/7 so they shut and locked the door for 15minutes for me and 3 cops stood guard out front.
They said if I went in without asking them (which I was going to do at first) Their would have been swat team and FBI there in 5minutes.
Excellent work there on that video. Looks professional. Song is also dope, one of my favorite Nas tracks. The great thing about Nas is his songs tell a story as opposed to modern hip-hop "artists" with the same money, clothes, girls, etc. look at me look at what I have.
