Personally? Having never been a "real" fighter pilot myself, I think the game is so awesome and as close to reality as possible, everything "except" flying a real fighter is second best and this is the closest I will ever get. If you can do better, PLEASE, be my guest and show us.
Guys, it's the pilot. Both aircraft are almost perfectly matched. U.S. missle systems are just that much better and the MIG-29's just a little more manuverable. It all comes down to the pilot. That's always how it will be.

The only ones who arent are Russia and China.. both of which are trying to trade with us.. in Vietnam we lost a lot of aircraft.. to call the North Vietnamese inferior would be wrong. The fact is that the F-15 has a 104-0 win-loss ratio, in other words, it's never been beaten in air to air combat EVER! By the way, this record was made not only by Americans, but Isreal, Saudi Arabia, Japan...ect, all have the Eagle and have contributed to the record. It's not that one country is better than the other, but the F-15 is a far superior war plane. FACT!

@cvonta I have no idea what that has to do with anything. Now, while them joining NATO would be nice, bear in mind it will most likely never happen with the current trends; the level of distrust is still too high, and the existing NATO nations would find the concept of betraying their military secrets to Russia anathema.
for people who don't realise, the F15 in this game is an earlier (80's ish) version of it. Almost everything has improved in the latest versions (very notably the radar)

The F-15 outturns, outclimbs and overall outaccelerates them both, and it's the best BVR aircraft available over them!
The MIG-29 and Su-27 have a better instantaneous turn rate, but they badly turn constantly next to the Eagle, so they allways loose terrain, slowly but certainly, while the Eagle comes from the back...!
In fact this "GAME" sucks at many things upon realism:P!
Unrealistic missiles behaviour, as well as aircraft's flight models(even though they seem real, only the turn rate,turn radius and top speed of each aircraft is accurate, while their accelerations aren't that good)
It's not that it ain't fun, but Eagles and Flankers aren't ever allowed to do flatspins, the MIG-29 may do, as it has no stick limits and has a stable platform, but not the other two.
Prove it mate..., we need proven facts not just talking, i gave the clear info about the Flanker, MIG-29 and F-15 right below:P. And they're as accurate as they can't be!

The Sukhoi has a lower wing loading, It also has a 1000 Pulse Doppler radar allowing it to track 2nd generation stealth aircraft (B-2 and F-117a) whereas the F-15 uses scan wave radar.
The F-15s plusses however are better electronic warfare systems and a slick BVR targeting system. But these performances are matched by the R-27ER's HARM missile which was designed specifically to deal with the F-15's radar.
The real reason the Sukhoi is better is because it was designed to BEAT the F-15

there are different seeker heads available for the r-27, including infrared and active radar. you should be careful before insulting other people, your statements aren't 100% correct either.

Russian pilots are not even close in comparison to US pilots for one simple reason, FLIGHT hours. The Russian pilots only get about 1/20th the hours the American pilots get per year. More flight time=better pilots period!

Ok no reason to get personal, and I will be the first to admit my knowledge of the inner workings of the Russian air force is next to nothing. I was basing that statement off of a documentary I saw about a Russian air force squadron where 90% of the pilots training was book training, and simulation. Due to budget problems they were only getting 5 hours a month actual flight time. Of course this was a while ago and things may have changed.

HOWEVER: american pilots prooven to be really bad at dogfighting, as the lost 90% of the training fights against indian pilots who flew older and less sofisticated machines!

f-22 isnt being dropped we just arent getting anymore than like 180(which is more than enough) the f-22 fighter is the best fighter in the world even compared to the f-35 which will probably be the second best
@frederic470 the only "spec" that really matters is the capability of stealth that the f-22 has and the su37 doesnt. even if they were to meet in close air combat i would have to say it would still come down to the pilot no matter what. another thing is that there are only 2 experimental su-37s and 184 or somewhere around there f-22s so what does it matter
@parK9 agreed it comes down to the pilot. strictly technologically the only thing the Su37 lacks is stealth. Im not trying to wage war here.... i just like to watch the evolution of technology and to compare how it develops across the puddle. I couldnt care less about the amount of planes in existence, that depends solely on the countries capital.
@frederic470 Can I share something with you? If you think the SU-37 is so good, then why is the Pentagon not producing a large amount of 22's? It's due to the fact that not even 7th Gen fighters would dare to intercept an F-22.. so there is no need to produce many of them. Christ forbid if it ever were in a dogfight.. 1 F-22 could take on 7 SU-37's and it wouldn't even be fair for the Russian's.

@SMJeOma The su-37 is nothing more than a concept aircraft. It hasen't and never will be produced as a frontline active service fighter. Sure it's a nice jet, but you can't use concept aircraft when comparing them to service jets. That's like saying the F-22 will beat the mig-21, but saying it 30 years ago. The Raptor was just a far off idea at that time. The fact is Russia does not yet produce an active fighter to stand up to the F-15 or the F-22, it's not arrogance, it's the facts.

Well actually no. U.S does not have enough money right now to procure 20 squadrons of F-22s like USAF wanted. Instead they will stick with upgraded F-16s and possibly F-15 silent eagle. F-35 will be inducted in large numbers as well cause its not as expensive as F-22 because so many nations are sharing the production cost.

F-22 is the best fighter and will most likely even be the best fighter after the PAK FA comes out. which is in 2015.. and who knows by then it may be dropped. only took russia 20 years to build something close to the F-22 T_T

You may not think it is, but the government who pays millions to manufacture the fighter aircraft do. If the challenge rises we'll make our more advance fighters. Fact is no American aircraft has been shot down in air to air combat since Vietnam. If we can bring down what is already out there we don't need anything new.
IT is true that none of our aircraft were shotdown and that no plane out there can match what we have but that is because we have been setting the bar for the past few decades. If we wait for someone to catch up then it will be too late. Especially now that we are selling the F-35's to other nations. And it is not like we can make these things on a short notice, not to mention the training for the pilots. Also our air superiority fighter (F-15) is old.
Also the engineers designed the aircraft for a certain amount of flight hours. A vast majority of those planes are at or beyond their designed service time. So yes, technically they are not broken, but these aircraft will not brake on the runway, they are going to break in flight. A few months ago (if not a year) an F15 broke in half during a high G turn. It was determined that it was due to a micro fracture in the frame.
Well gosh, you act like an aircraft has never malfunctioned ever. If that were true and they were so out of date I would not seem them flying overhead all the time. If they were so old we would be hearing everyday about one dropping from the sky. Yes they are old, but we still build new ones. We are at no threat from a nation who can top a F15s superiority so we don't need new aircraft to replace them. The F-15 is going to be around for a long time.
Of course not 100% of them are going to break right there and then and falling out of the sky like bricks, but you are risking it. They are past their designed flight life (most of them).
And if you are going to wait for a country to develop something that can beat the F-15 that you are going to be behind. Why is US on top of the military food chain? Because we set the bar, we always push the newest and greatest.
I'd need to see it to believe that an F-22 took out seven F-15s. We don't need to wait to catch up if we already have the F-22. We are waiting on other countries. None of the other super powers have brought out their 5gen aircraft so we don't need to rush any Raptors into production. Till then our Eagles are fine. It's all about know thy foe. We can beat them now, lets not overkill. The can match us now, now we bring out the raptor. That kind of stuff.
None of the Eagles are actually past there flight time. Otherwise they go to the boneyard ;) The fracture was just in the perfect spot not to know anything was happenning even with x-ray. They fixed the issue and it is over with.

The MiG-25 is anything but light. It's up there with the MiG-31 and Tu-28 as one of the heaviest fighters. Its speed comes from its engines, aerodynamics and structure.

Yes in Bosnia and Iraq, US F-15's dueled with Bosnian mig-29s and destroyed them, same with Iraq, but thats probably due to the quality of the pilots, not just the aircraft alone. This happened in the 80's to current
Iraq army use old versions of this plane. They haven`t got good pilots. But also the plain is good enought to fith with F-15 and F-16. It not bad plane. It is very good plain.

Incorrect. In that engagement on the audio it was two AMRAAMs fired from F-15C serial 86-0156. Yugoslav pilot Col Peric ejected from one of the MiG-29s. His wingman didn't survive. Eve Col Peric admits that both MiG-29 were downed by the F-15s.

There are no fighter jets that can even get close to 6 times the speed of sound. Especially the mig 35. the fastes plane that can be considered as a pure fighter is the mig 25, at mach 3.2. besides, the mig 35 would be shot down before it even detects the f22.

On a subject of Mig29 v. F-15, there is no comparison. Mig29 was designed as a small front line fighter, comparable to F-16. Same as F-16, Mig 29 would slice F-15 in CAC, but unfortunately it would not get there in a first place, same as F-16, because F-15 will kill it five time during BVR.
Dont match a radar that is TO-BE fitted on the Mig-29 or other variants COMPARE CURRENT F-15s to CURRENT Mig-29s.. F-15 aces them... The MiG had its advantages, and the sabre had its advantages. Ultimately though the deciding factor is pilot skill. Chuck Yeager once flew two mock dogfights with another American fighter pilot, one with Yeager in the Sabre and the other pilot in a captured MiG, and the other fight vice versa. Chuck, an experienced WWII double ace who had more time in the cockpit for both planes, won easily both times.
The MiG-29 is roughly equivolent in most aspects of aeronautic performance to the F-16 (thus more agile than the 15) but barring any future upgrades the 15's radar system is far superior in it's look-down shoot-down capability. It can keep a lock more effectively against a target much more reliably than the MiG. In a dogfight, if I recall the 15 has superior thrust to weight ratio so the pilot would want to stay fast, and keep the fight in the vertical.
We were speaking about Mig 15 before... Anyways - war games between germans and americans proved the superiority of Mig 29 jet over F 15 in a dog fight...

The F-15 outturns, outclimbs and overall outaccelerates them both, and it's the best BVR aircraft available over them!
The MIG-29 and Su-27 have a better instantaneous turn rate, but they badly turn constantly next to the Eagle, so they allways loose terrain, slowly but certainly, while the Eagle comes from the back...!

In fact this "GAME" sucks at many things upon realism:P!
Unrealistic missiles behaviour, as well as aircraft's flight models(even though they seem real, only the turn rate,turn radius and top speed of each aircraft is accurate, while their accelerations aren't that good)
It's not that it ain't fun, but Eagles and Flankers aren't ever allowed to do flatspins, the MIG-29 may do, as it has no stick limits and has a stable platform, but not the other two.
Still, the F-15 is better!

The facts show quite obviously that both the F-15 and the Flanker have almost exactly the same performance.
Their top speed is both Mach-2.5, their ceiling is both 20,000 metres, they both have eight hardpoints.
However, the Sukhoi is lighter and accordingly has a faster rate of climb and better power to weight. The Sukhoi is less thirsty allowing for longer range. And the Sukhoi has a larger manuverability envelope. They can turn tighter and can slow fight.

The Sukhoi has a lower wing loading, It also has a 1000 Pulse Doppler radar allowing it to track 2nd generation stealth aircraft (B-2 and F-117a) whereas the F-15 uses scan wave radar.
The F-15s plusses however are better electronic warfare systems and a slick BVR targeting system. But these performances are matched by the R-27ER's HARM missile which was designed specifically to deal with the F-15's radar.
The real reason the Sukhoi is better is because it was designed to BEAT the F-15

Russian pilots are not even close in comparison to US pilots for one simple reason, FLIGHT hours. The Russian pilots only get about 1/20th the hours the American pilots get per year. More flight time=better pilots period!

Ok no reason to get personal, and I will be the first to admit my knowledge of the inner workings of the Russian air force is next to nothing. I was basing that statement off of a documentary I saw about a Russian air force squadron where 90% of the pilots training was book training, and simulation. Due to budget problems they were only getting 5 hours a month actual flight time. Of course this was a while ago and things may have changed.

It's due to the fact that not even 7th Gen fighters would dare to intercept an F-22.. so there is no need to produce many of them. @SMJeOma The su-37 is nothing more than a concept aircraft. It hasen't and never will be produced as a frontline active service fighter. Sure it's a nice jet, but you can't use concept aircraft when comparing them to service jets. That's like saying the F-22 will beat the mig-21, but saying it 30 years ago. The Raptor was just a far off idea at that time. The fact is Russia does not yet produce an active fighter to stand up to the F-15 or the F-22, it's not arrogance, it's the facts.

Well actually no. U.S does not have enough money right now to procure 20 squadrons of F-22s like USAF wanted. Instead they will stick with upgraded F-16s and possibly F-15 silent eagle. F-35 will be inducted in large numbers as well cause its not as expensive as F-22 because so many nations are sharing the production cost.

IT is true that none of our aircraft were shotdown and that no plane out there can match what we have but that is because we have been setting the bar for the past few decades. If we wait for someone to catch up then it will be too late. Especially now that we are selling the F-35's to other nations. And it is not like we can make these things on a short notice, not to mention the training for the pilots. Also our air superiority fighter (F-15) is old.

If it is old it is outdated.
Also the engineers designed the aircraft for a certain amount of flight hours. A vast majority of those planes are at or beyond their designed service time. So yes, technically they are not broken, but these aircraft will not brake on the runway, they are going to break in flight. A few months ago (if not a year) an F15 broke in half during a high G turn. It was determined that it was due to a micro fracture in the frame.

If they were so old we would be hearing everyday about one dropping from the sky. Yes they are old, but we still build new ones. And if you are going to wait for a country to develop something that can beat the F-15 that you are going to be behind. Why is US on top of the military food chain? Because we set the bar, we always push the newest and greatest.

None of the other super powers have brought out their 5gen aircraft so we don't need to rush any Raptors into production. Till then our Eagles are fine. It's all about know thy foe. Has there ever been a fight between american after60's produced aircrafts and MiG-29's? If yes, then where and when and in which war? If you know, then please reply, this is very important for me.

Yes in Bosnia and Iraq, US F-15's dueled with Bosnian mig-29s and destroyed them, same with Iraq, but thats probably due to the quality of the pilots, not just the aircraft alone. This happened in the 80's to current

Iraq army use old versions of this plane. They haven`t got good pilots. But also the plain is good enought to fith with F-15 and F-16. It not bad plane. It is very good plain.
The main probltm is, that it is a plain not for novice and unexpiriense pilot. The plane does not forgive mistakes

yes, there is. in the operation 'desert storm', which is about a few years back. it is the war that us fought with iraq. the iraq mig-29 fought with the us f-16 and it lost. it is not the mig-29's problem because everyone knows that the us use satellites and air-borne jets and there is an advantage. so i don't think mig-29 is really that bad.

In Bosnia, it was SAM that downed Serbian Mig-29, not any F-16 or F-15. In Iraq, it was about the quality of the pilots and russian didnt supply iraqis best equipments and spare parts. IN Kargil war, Indian Mig-29 locked on Pakistani F-16 but F-16 retreated and Indians held their fire. The Federation of American Scientists claims the MiG-29 is superior to the F-15 and other US fighters in short aerial engagements because of the Helmet Mounted Weapons Sight (HMS) and better maneuverability

Incorrect. In that engagement on the audio it was two AMRAAMs fired from F-15C serial 86-0156. Yugoslav pilot Col Peric ejected from one of the MiG-29s. His wingman didn't survive. Eve Col Peric admits that both MiG-29 were downed by the F-15s.

and wih the latest development of Mig-29-the Mig-35, we have world' best short range multirole support fighter and surely the best dog fighter in the world. americans might deny this true info cause they surely wont and dont like the truth, when it's against them. and put a good Russian/German pilot in a mg-29 and pit him against USAF F-15/F-16. Americans will be grilled.

the f 15 and f 16 own the su27 and mig 29 and the yf 23 can own su 30mk su 35bm and su 33 and the f 22 can own su 37 and mig 35 and su 47 the cloest to the raptor is the mig 35 the su 37 doesnt come close

well i'll tell you what?Su 47 owns F22 raptor,and for ur informations F\A 18 in 1991 were shutted down by an old Soviet Iraqi Anti Air so we'll see how will the F22 hang on with the Mig 35,it won't even Catch it it flys over 6 times the Sounds speed..

There are no fighter jets that can even get close to 6 times the speed of sound. Especially the mig 35. the fastes plane that can be considered as a pure fighter is the mig 25, at mach 3.2. besides, the mig 35 would be shot down before it even detects the f22.

err gromell, F-16 will be going out of duty in a few years for US, wont really matter much. Lets see the Mig-35 vs F-22. O wait, it wouldn't, because Mig-35 would be shot 22 miles before it even gets a radar signal. Same for Su-37. You cant kill what you cant see.

about the german pilots and the russian pilots, thats true, isent the same engage a luftwaffen pilot or a rusky pilot than a poor iraki "pilot" :)

"true info?" BULL SHIT. there is no immediate proof that russian pilots are better than US pilots. It MAY be true, it MAY not, but its not quite a fact yet.

On a subject of Mig29 v. F-15, there is no comparison. Mig29 was designed as a small front line fighter, comparable to F-16. Same as F-16, Mig 29 would slice F-15 in CAC, but unfortunately it would not get there in a first place, same as F-16, because F-15 will kill it five time during BVR.

Actually, I should correct.. everything I can find on the FGA-35 version of the Zhuk-M says 200km against 5m^2 RCS, not 3.

Dont match a radar that is TO-BE fitted on the Mig-29 or other variants COMPARE CURRENT F-15s to CURRENT Mig-29s.. F-15 aces them... And about you saying that F-86 wasnot supperrior to Mig-15 is another myth of Russian Fantasy... I agree that pilot matters but some of Korean Mig-15s were flown by WW-2 Russian aces... So no objection there.. Mig-15 got owned!

Dude, even discovery channel admitted that Mig 15 was a better plane, come on - go check all their performace abilities if you don't trust me... Some (very little) so the pilots did the job... About 29's - they are in an upgraid status - so its pretty much done than...

The MiG had its advantages, and the sabre had its advantages. Ultimately though the deciding factor is pilot skill. Chuck Yeager once flew two mock dogfights with another American fighter pilot, one with Yeager in the Sabre and the other pilot in a captured MiG, and the other fight vice versa. Chuck, an experienced WWII double ace who had more time in the cockpit for both planes, won easily both times.

The MiG-29 is roughly equivolent in most aspects of aeronautic performance to the F-16 (thus more agile than the 15) but barring any future upgrades the 15's radar system is far superior in it's look-down shoot-down capability. It can keep a lock more effectively against a target much more reliably than the MiG. In a dogfight, if I recall the 15 has superior thrust to weight ratio so the pilot would want to stay fast, and keep the fight in the vertical.
