Gotta a 1999 Espero 2.0 with, already, 156k kilometres travelled.

For all this time spent on it less than a 1000 quid and it still goes like as it has been bought just yesterday, no problems at all.

@LeganzaMoonwalker well, original Nexia/Cielo from Daewoo was cancelled in 1997, Cielo u have is licensed version of Korean Cielo... anyway, i have 1996 DOHC Cielo, and it is a perfect car. Daewoo Motors died in 1999, not 2008, and not because cars weren't problematic, but because of asian financial crysis... Daewoo brand was cancelled in march 2011... last daewoo motor company in world is based in uzbekistan.

So while a Daewood might not hold together well at least the dealership will help out, if its a European dealership. Maybe the Aveo and Cruze would sell better if they were sold as Daewoods, I know they'd look better (less ugly).

I have to admit, i hate korean cars. But after watching this and the lengths daewoo went to keep customers happy (3 year full coverage, pick up, service, parts etc etc) its quite amazing.

I feel so sorry for people in America who bought cars like the Chevy Epica and they don't even know it's actually a crappy Daewoo and when they need engine parts it's not going to be common Chevy engine parts for them! But I see some with big Chevy stickers on the rear window like they think "look at me I'm driving an America car, yes a real Chevy!" lol if only they had a clue.

So far as the North American market goes, Daewoo's are sold in the U.S. as Chevrolets. GM actually bought out Daewoo Motors in the early 2000's. Their proper name is GM Korea now.

I wouldn't have a clue if they Daewoo nameplate is still used in its home market or of those are "Chevy"'s too.

I think it makes little difference what you drive.

That said, I drive an alfa and would rather eat my money than buy one of these.

@2:24~2:31 daewoo lied about the free service for parts& service for 3 years in the states, screwing the owners who bought the cars, they cancelled it after people bought the cars, some of the dealers fixed them anyway at a loss or just made a "warranty claim" for reimbusment.,they go sued then declared bankruptcy, the courts gave daewoo owners 100.00 dollars each after bankruptcy hearings, also daewoo went to dealers and removed the window stickers from new cars,wich was a violation of the laws

nexia is just a rebadgedopel kadett/ vauxhall astra mk2 with slight sheetmetal mods the espero is a GM j platform, basically they are korean made opel/vauxhall models ,even the motors are same

i have 3 right now, they are all working korean domestic models , my 1990 lemans GTE is basically a opel kadett/vauxhall astraMK2 , my 2000 leganza(black&white) was a test model used in many motorshows, its 2.2 litre full option it has FRONT &REAR SPOILER 2 tone leather seats and panels,factory white gauges,xenon HID body color headlights abs,tcs,micron filters ground effects and many options that were not avaible for export, it even hasUNMARKED 9C1 police package with light &siren with P.A., :P

i plan on posting photos i already took them of the 1990 before i started restoring it , it was sitting for 5 years, the leganza it perfect, you can eat off of the motor &suspension,thats how clean it is the 2002 nubira2 series X will get posted after i replace the hood, it got smashed by both a tree last year then some asshole crashed his motorcycle into my parked car denting it with his body and handlebars, he was uninsured so i did a "smash" like codstr to his bike after ambulance took him :P

also i got a nice red 2002 nubira2 series X,2.0 litreDOHC (same motor as astra GTE 16V:) IT WAS A TEST CAR ,of a car for motor shows so i got it for free as they can't sell them,my old boss from korea let me keep it and he kept the blue one. these cars are nice it has leather, abs/tcs,xenon HID d2s projector headlamps(body color& black) projector HID foglamps,dark alloy wheels,GM transmisson,body kit with front spoiler,rear spoiler,body color front grille,red guages! these cars were test cars.

And why buy one if you could get a second hand Golf or a Civic for the money of a new Daewoo?

Too bad that when the cars arrived in the states they were just rubish. I only see like two of them driving around town. One with the paint mostly peeled off due to a bad paint job and an estate that somehow has survived this long.
