i think the Guild will reveal Vork to at one time been a mathematician who was on the verge of cracking some mathematical breakthrough when suddenly some dude said "Hey, check this is out it's WoW!" Vork takes the game, plays it on a whim and the rest is history.

Originally the game they played was 'generic online fantasy game', but was basically supposed to be WoW. Around season 2, the Blizzard guys (who make WoW) all became fans of the show (and Felicia Day...) and legally let them (The Guild) use WoW as 'the game'.
