  • This is the first song by Catherine Wheel when it was getting limited airplay on alternative stations that were just starting up in the U.S. I don't think they get anywhere near the credit for their style that they deserve I got hooked the first time I heard it and bought the disc. Not disappointing in the least..

  • I've been a Catherine Wheel fan for SO long, I'm glad you appreciate them as well. And thanks for the info offered in your intro. It's always nice to learn more about the band. I'm in the States so I'm pretty far removed from their scene.

  • That was very cool. Crank is pretty much on the top of my list as well, and I am not even from England, just New Hampshire USA.

  • Hey man, nice work, and i agree with the whole shoegaze 'voice as an instrument' thing but with this song i remember an interview with rob dickinson and he said crank is a term for a weird and eccentric person and this tune is about how happy he is to think he is an unusual character and he takes comfort from people viewing him in this way. When i listen to the lyrics i get that vibe, not sure if anyone will agree but thought you'd like another opinion!

Awesome song and cool intro, keep it up!

  • well done for doing this mate. Very brave and informative. Will hopefully get more people into the wheel.

  • dave hawes bass player for the wheel sighting. in a band called bartrek in the cleveland ohio area (brennans pub 2.28.09 ashtabula ohio) having a good old time. back with a vengence.

  • bartrek? interesting name, though perhaps lending a little too closely to star trek lol

  • hey I know Dave, check out the video of me and my friend playing Black Metallic with Dave

  • hey me and my friend played black metallic with dave at my schools talent show check it out.

  • one of the most underappreciated bands of all-time. so glad that they made your #1 slot!

    Lets pray for a reunion.... : )

  • Yeah that would be awesome! Though the only thing is I have heard Dickinson sing this live several times.. kinda made me wince a little :/ thanks for the comment, much appreciated!

  • Woooo! Finally another video xD

Not that I can talk, haven't made one in aages =P

  • there should be another one tomorrow..oh wait, it's past midnight.. in that case there should be another one today :)

  • God, I wish you were gay - and mine

  • I want a malteser the size of my fist.. I guess we can't always get what we want :/

  • Great choice for a top 10. Catherine Wheel were so awsome I could almost fill my top 10 with their songs!

  • I absolutely adore catherine wheel. Or 'The' catherine wheel as they became for their last album. Great great songs indeed, (also glad I've found a fan of them too!) though this song is the one that gets to me the most :)

  • *claps*

    =]

You make me smile, I'm pretty sure thats against the law.

    NICE SONG! woooooooooo!

  • It IS against the law, though you'll be out early on good behaviour

  • YA.... I liked it. 5/5

  • I liked it alot too funnily enough :D thanks!

  • Catherine Wheel is completely embedded within me. One of the greatest bands. Though they do have a thing for elevators and hallways, not leaving far from home with grannies dancing around and sheeps walking by.... almost feels like Ive stepped into a wmt dream (shutter) scary. They did manage to make it out of the house... though they didnt get very far plunging to their deaths in the waydown video..either this band is completely insane or just pure genius, probably both. Flower to Hide, amazing

  • Those elevators were never quite the same again to be honest!

  • that was great. looking forward to the rest of the series.

  • The next one might be in a day or so, so keep those peepers peeled!

  • Forgotten all about that song, cool idea for a series :)

  • Thanks alot :) I just cant emphasise how much I love this tune

  • playing in a elevator... dang it.. my band will need to find some other location for out music video now... good thing you told me tho

  • there's always the toilet..

  • yeah.. but song is about love...not porn

  • makes a change!

  • not to bad! I thought all five would be here but then i remembered you said...series! I love music soooo much i don't know if i could ever pick a top 5?! IT would take a lot of deliberation and careful thinking!

  • Oh there's gonna be more than 5.. my list is going to have to be trimmed a lil' but I'll put on as many as I can on here. Believe me, I certainly couldn't cut them down to 5, that'd be impossibe! :/

  • hahaha...I really like this idea:)

  • I hope you'll join me for the rest of the series then :)

  • Cool idea!

  • Well thank you, I'm inspirational at times, usually when I'm on the loo

  • I thought shoegaze was pronounced, "shoo-ga-zee" rather than"shoo-gays"...

    lil lol there for ya.

  • kinda sounds like it'd be the accompanying music for yu-gi-oh :/ now that's scary

  • first commet w00t

  • a shiny new cookie will be in the mail for ya

  • lmao
