@mtherlihy The tornado formed at the airport. Control tower had about as much warning as everyone else. There is another video from one of the passengers stuck in a plane during it. It shows the funnel starting at the airport. As with almost any tornado you get very little reaction time.

@excursel i think any terroist would have been hit on the face by flying debris. then he or she woulhd still have to be able to get on the plane from the gate door. which is closed due to a friggin tornado.

The main power fails at 1:35 in the video.
Then the backup generators kick in at about 1:52.
This is about 17 seconds from utility power failure to backup power generator supplying power for the emergency lights. Not bad at all...
