You need a larger surface area to plane up, so a skate deck PROBABLY wont work, not to mention the rocker/concave is too little. I laminated 7 pre cut layers of 1/8th inch baltic birch together with waterproof wood adhesive, weighted it in a jig to get the rocker/concave right while it dried, then finished shaping the rails, sealed with urethane and paint, then added center fin at each end and grip tape on top. Good luck, you should try making one its fun.
where did you get the 18th inch wood. im almost done making mine but the skiniest wood i could find was a little less than 1/4. its good but the rocker would probably hold better if i used thiner wood. if it doesn't work good then ill problably try making another one with more layers of thiner wood. and do you have any close up pics or vid?
you gotta check the specialty wood stores... baltic birch is sold that thin and has good water resistance. If I make another, I am going for one or two less plys... I used 6 and that $hit is HEAVY.
Is that a flexible line you're using? why are you using that, it's a lot easier with a thin, non-stretchable rope.

yeah mines pretty heavy, i used 3 layers of that wood and each layer had 3 already together, so it had 9 total.
