SON-OF-GUN; JUST MADE IT!!! In 1964 "Keep On Pushing" peaked at No. 10 thus just making the Billboard's Top 10 and it spent a total of 13 weeks in the Hot Top 100...
This record reached No. 1 on Cash Box's R&B chart...
I love this song; it makes me think of my grandparents' generation and the Civil Rights Movement at its height in the early to mid-sixties, and I subsequently reminded of how if people before me overcame many obstacles, then I can as well. Basically as a 17 y/o recent High School graduate, it gives me encouragement to press forward, no matter the circumstance; life is hard, but I can't wait to begin university life in the fall. Keep on pushing!
jay-z..kanye..p-diddy and all the gang..they dont play any instruments or sing..SO TAKE A LISTEN AND A LESSON...ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD CAN NOT BY YOU ANY MUSICAL TALENT..NUFF SAID...
@dimuccio2 Say it again I don;t thing they heard you, Jay-Z and Kanye East are not musical performers o.k. they can't sing, they can't read music, they can't play an insturment, let alone play the scale if they could, the biggest farce since Clifford Irving.
The lyrics are timeless, yes. And the music is, without a shadow of a doubt smooth and penetrating, yet. IT HAS F%^*K ALL TO DO WITH BARAK OBAMA !!! Or any other president, it's just a song. That's all it is, just a really, really, good song......
I've a 2 cd set of Curtis Mayfield plus- this song and MOVE ON UP are 2 of the most inspirational tunes on there and great tp go back to hear - and I'll never forget the song AMEN around '64 or '65. wonderful material! thanks phillaing
@katydidpj glad you like it Katy. I had the good fortune of seeing him live back in the 80s. I still have a European tour T shirt from 1986! It's hanging together by a few threads! His music continues to inspire........................can't wait to see another of my idols this month- the great Gil Scott Heron...........peace
Ain't nothin like it right now! The lyrics are timeless and the music smooth and penetrating. Barack is one powerful soul brother let's help him out as much as we can!
Keep on pushing Mr. President. You've got a rightous wind on your back for the good of all mankind. You were chosen as the only one to do what must be done. End suffering and starvation on the planet and restore equal rights and justice for all human beings. Keep on pushing Mr. President .......the fierce urgency of now.
Good message not too fond of the song.
