Ok Bruce! What the hell don't you understand about the ending of your own movie 12 Monkeys? That was an awesome movie from start to finish. The ending was simple. The nutcase with the suitcase full of viruses gets away & kills most of humanity & you get shot trying to stop him. End of story.

Its not that complicated, Bruce. Science fiction simply alters aspects of reality, science and or humanity in order to tell a story about the human condition. For instance, fast forward 100 years and tell a story about going to the starts (Star Trek) or alter reality in a strange manner to focus on the human condition (Twilight Zone).

Heehee if I was the producer of the movie I'd sue him and get all the millions he got paid (one of the most expensive actors in Hollywood) back + fees + extra. Just say the movie's great! He got paid to say it he should say it. :-D
