this is a very usefull wonder, however i usually fog bust the barbarians around my civ early in the game instead of wasting my resources on this wonder.
@TomBombadil37 I visualize the South Park episode where they build a wall around South Park a single random Asian dude runs around on top of it fighting off a small squad of Mongols who tear down the wall repeatedly only to retreat and repeat the attack when it's rebuilt:D.
It is very useful if you are playing a game with a large number of Barbarians. This will keep them out of the areas under your control so you can focus your resources on building other things instead of a large military.
@SickBritKid Or build mounted units to run laps around your borders pwning all the incoming barbarians and get free experience points. What version of the game is this, because I'm in normal Civ 4 and there is no great wall wonder.
I just ran a quick google search and found sources stating human remains have been found buried under sections of the wall. Do you have any proof that this is a myth?
I, similarly, just ran a quick Google search for "great wall of china buried", and found several sources saying that people were buried under the wall, a couple of sources that said "no one knows", and several sources saying that people weren't built under the wall.
I found no sources with any pictures of corpses that had been found underneath the wall, and I suspect none exist, as unearthing them would mean destroying a section of the wall.
Burying people under or into the wall would also be a bad idea, as the corpses would change in size and composition, causing structural weaknesses in the wall. Therefore I choose to side with the idea that there probably were no bodies buried under or into the wall, but that no one really knows for sure.
The idea that people were buried under or into the wall appears to be a complete myth, as there is no evidence that it happened or good reason for it to happen.
Interesting. Well that was my problem with it, bodies decay and wither away. It makes more sense to me that the slaves were actually buried on site, and as the legend has been told and retold through the ages, the story is now that people were buried under the wall. The truth behind myths are never quite as exciting.
The building of the wall began thousands of years ago, Over half a million workers helped built the wall, human rights were also low back then. Nor did they know about this structural weaknesses of the wall and so on. I am not saying there are bodies, but the odds there are mass graves in the walls are pretty high. I doubt they took the time to give the workers proper burial, just like the pyramids, hundreds died everyday building the wall.
There are people buried everywhere on this planet, that wall is 1000's of km's long... The probability that some bodies are under the wall are feasable.. Heck there might even be a body under your house!!!
How do you make the wonder into a youtube video? i tried recording it with a webcam but it comes out so fuzzy and it doesnt adjust to light changes, but yours looks like i was actually playing the game right now.
I agree. I also like how this wonder can be seen on the map screen. I tend to expand my civilization's borders as much as possible before completing this wonder.
...I'd like to know your source, because the Great Wall of China took about 1800 years to build, first ordered by Shi Huangdi in the Qin Dynasty and ending most of its construction in the Qing Dynasty. o.O
The Great Wall of China was originally made out of mud and debris, but later they started rebuilding it with stone and expanding its area. This might be what the other guy is talking about.
Why build a wall that goes all the way across China? Just put it around your damn city like everyone else lol

Or, you can now focus on building a huge military without being harassed by Barbs, while your AI opponents will.

does anyone know how to fix the problem named: it's too crowded?
rickinator9 2 years ago
You can't remove those negative effects.
It happens when your city grows.
You can fight it back by using buildings that give + happiness like theaters, coliseums, churches etc.
if you have heredity rule you can select that civ vicand put several military units defending your city to reduce the number of angry citizens.
Also the globe theater which is a national wonder pretty much fixes this problem in the city in which is build.

That's actual an urban myth; there's no evidence that the dead slaves were place in or under the Great Wall.
