@MoongooseGTR There are plenty of videos showing you how to do that, but in case you really suck at finding them, look for my video "Volkswagen radio tips: installation/removal, entering code, antenna connections".
@vwestlife i know that you have to press scan and mode but it has two buttons that say scan one is pointing lef and the other to hte right i have to prees both and mode o what
I still have the stock head unit in my 97 jetta, and I've never wanted to mess with it until I had to get new speakers installed as my stock ones blew out.... how do you adjust the fade and balance?!?!? It says treble/fade and bass/balance or whichever but it only adjusts the treble and bass when I turn it.
@KiMiix0x You pull out the knobs one notch to adjust the balance and fader. Then to adjust the bass and treble again you push them back in. So each knob has three positions: pushed in all the way (push again to release), popped out (to adjust bass & treble), and pulled out (to adjust balance & fader).
Dude don't listen to those fucking douchebags that is a good song. Anyways I have a 1997 Jetta and i'm replacing the stock radio with a nice aftermarket do you think the speakers are good enough to keep without replacing?
@xsupranatorx527 Uh, excusez-moi, little homophobic pute! You do realise that that system came with the car, right? If not, then you clearly must not know the difference between factory equipment and aftermarket equipment!
Go to a VW dealer's service department with your car's VIN and the serial number on the radio, and they will give you the code for the radio (they might try to charge you for it, but they shouldn't!). To enter the code, turn on the radio, hold down MODE and SCAN until the display changes, then use the preset buttons 1 to 4 to enter the digits. If the first digit of the code is 0, leave it blank. Then hold down MODE and SCAN again until the radio starts playing.
106.7 has a "Saturday Night Dance Party" show. I was in Manville, NJ when I recorded the video, so reception of CBS-FM isn't good down there due to interference from B-101.1 from Philly.

@MoongooseGTR Then you have a different radio. Try to find out its model name, and then you can look up the instructions for it.

@estePECAN The stock speakers are fine as long as you don't plan on cranking it up to ear-splitting levels.
