@Luella7 Dear person, no I am not okay with people going to hell. That is why I share my faith. As you get older, you will realize the importance of finding out what it is that exists after this life is over. Once you get out of your twenties you start to seriously look for answers and although you may think people are foolish to believe in this God whom we extol, you will find that when you compare religions and philosophies the creator God makes a lot of sense.

You only judge based on things you read in a book , not on things you personally experienced, yet you talk like you've seen it all with your own eyes. @Luella7 as you go through life, you will come to a point where you will get what you are going after and see that the satisfaction you thought that would get you would be "enough" or "the thing" for you is really not true satisfaction. The soul longs for something more. Yeah there are many religions, but from what I've tried, Christianity fulfilled that longing because you believe in a Creator God who asks us to love our neighbor as ourselves and do good.

Someone once told me "religion is boring, but a relationship is wonderful." Don't make God a religion, have a real relationship with him. Not so long ago I had a lot of trouble believing in God because everything was basically taken from me in little of a year. It took everything in my life being destroyed to understand how much I needed God. It's sad, and regretful that it took that much. I'm not trying to preach, I'm just trying to tell my story in the hopes it will help someone.

According to the bible we are not free at all , if we don't obey we get tortured in hell unless your "oh so loving" god forgives us our "sins". A truly loving being doesn't need to forgive because a loving being wouldn't even condemn in the first place. Nothing justifies torturing someone in hell , if you torture a murderer than what makes you better than the murderer? Torture is pointless, you can't heal hate with hate.
@Luella7 Firstly, we are free, we become God's "slaves" out of gratitude not out of compulsion. Secondly, you only need to believe Jesus HAS ALREADY DIED TO FORGIVE ALL OUR SINS because of His love for us to aviod going to hell. Disobeying God wont make you go to hell, because what he did is greater than what we can ever do. Hell is simply the condition of separation from God. God is life, love goodness and comfort, separation from him is necessarily the opposite: darkness and torment. Being separated from him is a choice. God cannot in principle be egoistic. If God is love, for him to be egoistic would simply mean for him to love (which is not egoistic) . Love by nature never imposes itself upon anyone, which means that it gives everyone the freedom to accept or reject him.

@cortinnemarie I don't know what denomination of christianity CJGibson is, but it's certainly not true christianity. God does love you no matter what, but he also judges people. He is a just God. And he knew that the only way he could express his love for us while maintaining justice would be to send his son, Jesus Christ, to do what we couldn't do, to completely fulfill the law and set us free from the law. Jesus took all the wrath for us, and all we have to do is let him take it.

@ENGINEERING40 All I can say is to test all things according to God's word and search your heart for the motives of why you do what you do or are doing. Leave yourself behind and do everything for the honor of God no matter who or what you see other's do. @ENGINEERING40 If God convicted you of those things then you were right to listen to him. But I think God has to convict someone. Perhaps Brooke hasn't been convicted. I can't quote a verse but personally I've always felt that God works in phases. He doesn't change someone overnight. She might be a great Christian but she's not done yet and he may just be working other issues in her life.
@ENGINEERING40 - I don't think that verse was referring to conforming in your physical appearance, although many people do things to their physical body to conform to what they see in the world. One could argue that wearing a tongue ring is conforming in the same way that maybe wearing a popular baseball cap or article of clothing might be conforming. That verse was talking about the conforming of your mind & your mindset.
@ENGINEERING40 It's possible that your piercings were a stumbling block to your own walk- or possibly God told you to do it as an act of obedience- but some things that God convicts some people about, He does not require of others.. Like watching movies, or listening to certain kinds of music, or drinking alchohol (without becoming drunk) - everyone is different, & God requires different things of different people. You cannot push what God requires of you onto other people.

@Luella7 It's much like when a parent with love tells their child, not to play with fire, the child "being playful" (and not knowing the dangers) decides to play with it anyway and burns its hand, maybe never to be able to use it the way it was meant to be used. Has the child have any right to be angry with the parents? Hope this helps you understand what love really is, in the presence of truth.

Someone once told me "religion is boring, but a relationship is wonderful." Don't make God a religion, have a real relationship with him. Not so long ago I had a lot of trouble believing in God because everything was basically taken from me in little of a year. It took everything in my life being destroyed to understand how much I needed God. It's sad, and regretful that it took that much. I'm not trying to preach, I'm just trying to tell my story in the hopes it will help someone.

Secondly, you only need to believe Jesus HAS ALREADY DIED TO FORGIVE ALL OUR SINS because of His love for us to aviod going to hell. Disobeying God wont make you go to hell, because what he did is greater than what we can ever do. Again, we obey God because we are grateful for everything He's done, and also because His ways actually work (shock, horror) and there is no other way thats better.

Hell is simply the condition of separation from God. God is life, love goodness and comfort, separation from him is necessarily the opposite: darkness and torment. Being separated from him is a choice. God cannot in principle be egoistic. If God is love, for him to be egoistic would simply mean for him to love (which is not egoistic) . Love by nature never imposes itself upon anyone, which means that it gives everyone the freedom to accept or reject him.

The Creator who created us in His image will gather to Himself those that follow Him using the roadmap he gave us and which we call the Bible. If you don't want to follow Him, that is your choice. And he knew that the only way he could express his love for us while maintaining justice would be to send his son, Jesus Christ, to do what we couldn't do, to completely fulfill the law and set us free from the law. Jesus took all the wrath for us, and all we have to do is let him take it.

@ENGINEERING40 All I can say is to test all things according to God's word and search your heart for the motives of why you do what you do or are doing. Leave yourself behind and do everything for the honor of God no matter who or what you see other's do. This is something i have been struggling with the past year, no matter the cost live for His glory alone and nothing out of selfish conceit. I hope this helps, blessings

@ENGINEERING40 If God convicted you of those things then you were right to listen to him. But I think God has to convict someone. Perhaps Brooke hasn't been convicted. I can't quote a verse but personally I've always felt that God works in phases. He doesn't change someone overnight. She might be a great Christian but she's not done yet and he may just be working other issues in her life.

@ENGINEERING40 - I don't think that verse was referring to conforming in your physical appearance, although many people do things to their physical body to conform to what they see in the world. One could argue that wearing a tongue ring is conforming in the same way that maybe wearing a popular baseball cap or article of clothing might be conforming. That verse was talking about the conforming of your mind & your mindset.

@ENGINEERING40 It's possible that your piercings were a stumbling block to your own walk- or possibly God told you to do it as an act of obedience- but some things that God convicts some people about, He does not require of others.. Like watching movies, or listening to certain kinds of music, or drinking alchohol (without becoming drunk) - everyone is different, & God requires different things of different people. You cannot push what God requires of you onto other people.

My brother I'm sorry but I gotta cut you right there, you got it all wrong, God doesnt work in partiality. If he would convict me of my piercing, then he would do it to all of his children. The different lies in how much time you spent with Him. The more TIME,,,you get to know that he wants you to live an absolutaley holy life, ABSOLUTLY, beacuse as Christ is so are we and I do believe that if we are the ambassadors of Christ,certain piercings are unecceptable.WE ARE SEATED IN HEAVENLY PLACES!

@ENGINEERING40 I'm sorry you feel that way. Your convictions are resulting in you casting judgement on those who do not have the same convictions. Which is wrong. I have a friend who does not eat pork because God called him to do this out of obediance. Does this mean I need to do it too?

@jonnybwright If God told him so, then ask him why God told him to do so.......God would never tell someone to do so unless it's bad for them, and if He can do it for your friend, what makes you think He cant tell it to you if you are in danger, because there is a reason behing everything that God does. Please go ask you friend how God told him to stop eating pork, did He literally hear Gods voice, because manyatimes we hear things, And no I'm not against your friend,just go confirm with him .

@ENGINEERING40 What kind of music do you like? I have a friend who listened to rock music, but his love of music was a stumbling block in his relationship with God. God told him to lay it down. It probably isn't even permenant, but he is doing it out of obediance. Listening to that music isn't a sin.. but the way it was coming between himself & God was a detriment. Does this mean that he needs to preach this conviction to everyone? That they need to do the same?

@jonnybwright It has nothing to do with partiality. It has to do with individuality. Piercings are not a sin. Jesus died for us to take away the burdon of "the law" - our passion should be following Christ in obediance. Not casting judgement on others. You said: "If he would convict me of my piercing, then he would do it to all of his children" - well God has not convicted me about piercings, does this mean I am not a child of God? Because that's what you're saying by implying that.

Apparently you only read that verse because you are NOT to judge Christians on meaningless things that mean absolutely nothing to God. God wants Mercy not regulations--Rom 12 through 15. Talk about completely missing the point of the chapters !! What are we now--the whitewashed tombs looking all perfect outwardly but full of dead mens bones? Your appearance earns you NOTHING.--God wastes his time on your nose ring and forgot to tell you to fix your insides? Legalism..look it up

aaaaaaaaah Rizzy I dont know how many times to say this. God changes people from the inside out. I became born again with the nose ring , then he changed me, get it? and I am not missing the point of the chapter, because if you havent recieved a revelation of what it means from the Holy spirit, you wont have a clue of what I am saying! Not hard feeling! it is as important to change inside and outside, but more profound the outside( 1 corinthians 15:44-50), please ask for a revelation from God...

divra, aint nothng wrong with rock music,as long as it is praising God. Remember ther is a difference between rock and rave. Rock is hillsong, planetshakers, Jesus culture, Behtel, parachute band and etc. I just hope that your friend isnt listening to what I think you mean, because he is basically expanding the portholes into his soul for demonic access,DO NOT FEAR THOUGH!
