3. THEN COOL DOWN

its not worth it at all. the chemical price as well as the time and effort to get 3 grams out of 2000 lbs of material or "995,200" grams of material. and all your getting is 166.47 $ per ton. @SapphireDiamond19 You must be really dum. First of all you need money to mine Gold alot of it and the people that has that money in general are whites. And so what if they can afford to mine gold? Good for them. If they dont mine in Africa the fucked up African goverments wont make any money. So what would you like to see.?? MORE POVERTY or PROGRESS. ?????? @SapphireDiamond19 Actually, many African governments prefer dealing with China because they don't interfere with local politics, strike fair agreements, and keep their commitments. Many infrastructure projects in African countries are funded and executed by the Chinese. It is rather Western nations who have a very sordid history and current approach of dealing unfairly with African nations. Besides, if the Africans are incapable of the work or industry, they could use help.
@enuvune It has little use in industrial products and such. That being said, it is actually one of the most- if not the most- critical commodity known to man. There are several advantages that are unique to gold that continues to make it the safest and most efficient monetary unit ever known to man.
@kusari86 Any currency, including gold, is prone to inflation. That's because growth of the money supply is just a natural outcome of economic growth.
Listen: it's fun to fantasize about going back in time, but we are living in an INDUSTRIALIZED global economy with 7 billion people on the planet. There isn't enough gold or silver left to ensure that everyone has a decent standard of living, nor could gold and silver work in the kind of economy we have today.
They get the gold by washing the tailings over Mercury. After tons of tailings have passed over the Mercury, it is evaporated and the gold recovered. Mercuric oxide and organic Mercury compounds are formed and these compounds are really poisonous as they discovered in Japan (Minamata disease).
@jradetzky "Matter cannot be created or destroyed" unless maybe there's another big bang i don't thing water will ever disappear from this planet. Its too heavy to evaporate all the way to space, unlike helium of course.
@djmussy18 sure, water will not disappear, but it will all be polluted and someone will have to clean it so that we can drink it. Or do you want to drink goldwater?
@jradetzky thats true, they can make a lot of electrically powered water purifiers and get the electricity from either the sun or water damns that are running full of dirty waters. oh dont forget windmills....
@djmussy18 sure, all of this things are technologically possible, but economically unfeasible. Nobody has the will to do them as it's more profitable to search for useless but expensive gold
@jradetzky VERY TRUE my friend..i agree 100%, that's why Oil companies pay millions to car companies not to make or release 100% electric cars that are actually affordable, they know once everyone switches no one will ever think about oil..... fuck politics...i fucking hate talking about them or even thinking about them....
@jradetzky Lots of people agree with you but I think that is incredibly unlikely. There is very little gold on Earth, and ridiculous amounts of water as it covers most of the Earth's surface. 3/4 is salt water, but the truth is we can (and will) desalinate and have unlimited fresh water, energy is the only bottleneck. There are even solar desalinization plants operating today. Diamonds and water are common, gold is not. H20 1.386×10^9 km^3 vs 8.5 km^3, gold will buy more water later.
@jradetzky LOL I cant eat it either, but I can trade it for a ridiculous amount of food and water. Ever year for the past 11 gold has bought me more water and more food than the previous year, and the way the supply demand trends look for the next 10-20 years, odds are good in the future gold will buy many times the goods it does today. My point is humans can grow more food, make diamonds and unlimited fresh water if we have the desire. Gold is different, it is just rare power money.
@capslockbandit whoa! ur either nuts or an economist for thinking that there are unlimited resources. It's all a matter of perspective. Gold is only "valuable" because some crazy Western folk say so, but it has no intrinsic value whatsoever--in the pre-colonial Americas gold was so abundant that people traded it for trinkets with greedy European explorers. If tomorrow someone says that fossilized dog shit is the rarest material on earth you will sure go for it, won't ya?
@jradetzky In the case of water it is practically unlimited for our purposes, and all of it stays in the system. I never said resources were unlimited, but eventually supply and demand leads to price increases that make it economic to recycle, for example nearly all gold, and many rare earths are recycled because of their value. I am 24 and semi retired because of my research and subsequent investment in production of these valuable commodities, so I do know a lot about this stuff. GL
@capslockbandit if we ever end up stranded together in a hot desert and I happen to have the only bottle of water and you only have one bar of gold, guess who'll dehydrate to death
@jradetzky Stick with the incredibly unlikely hypothetical scenarios and I will stay with reality. I have used gold to develop a nearly self sufficient property for my family. My gold bought me farmland and water, ie safety for my family. You may find some weird satisfaction in letting me die in a bizarre hypothetical fantasy, but when things do get really bad I will have the capacity to help many people, made possible because of the abundance in my life. Gold bugs tend to be prepared!
The gold fetishists need to understand that gold CAN be subjected to inflation as well. Now that the price of gold is up - and it's use as a currency is being far more widespread especially here in the US - there is a huge incentive to mine for gold (as this video points out). Meaning: the more gold coins there are in society, the less the gold will be worth overall. You gold fetishists FAIL at economics.
@juliaisafilmbuff123 I doubt your theory, besides gold is money that has value within (intrinsic) , whereas paper currency backing fails. Gold is Gold, paper is paper
@juliaisafilmbuff123 OMG! You're a genius. But check this out, if gold becomes worth less overall like you say. Then there is a huge incentive NOT to mine for gold. Meaning the LESS gold coins there are in society>More gold will be worth overall.
Julia I fear for my children, please contribute something to our shared posterity. Swear an oath to never again make an idiotic- and I'm being nice considering the drivel I've read so far- contribution to an economic discussion. Thanks in advance..
@kusari86 No, because people have been so conditioned by the pro-gold bullshit that they'll keep buying it even if its value goes down, especially if they've been told it's a "safe" investment. Take a look at the gold price figures in the US in the past 40 years: the chap who invested so much in gold in '79 lost a shitload of wealth during the Reagan years and didn't see anything in return until 2005 or so. Gold is shit. LETSystems are the way of the future.
@juliaisafilmbuff123 There is never been more ($) incentive than now to mine for gold, yet why isnt mine production up to match? Because we mined most of the high grade easy deposits on the planet. If the fed prints a dollar its steals the value from elsewhere, if someone mines gold they have to invest, develop and create jobs and economic utility. Gold is honest because its supply increases roughly match population growth, instead of its value dictated by a banking cartel.
Well, this is the capitalist world, so people do that is profitable. If kicking a tree is profitable, people will do that all day too regardless of practicality. By the way, beside its beauty, gold have the most valuable electronic property of all metal. :| I Know, as if gold is not valuable enough, god have to make it useful as well.
@TheOkham Gold is shit. Like you said, it's a total waste. As soon as the economy starts back up again the price of gold will plummet and all of that environmental destruction will have been for nothing. LETSystems, not gold or silver, are the way to go in terms of alternative currencies.

They can thank Obamanomics for the price of gold. He single handedly destroyed the economies of the world and now gold is prime. Yippee!!

@icimblind Last time I checked, it was Peter Schiff telling me to buy gold.

So much time, effort, water and energy to filter tons of waste in search of shiny metal with almost no practical application.
How stupid is that?
Invest all that effort in agriculture, infrastructure or science and you can actually improve human life instead of digging in piles of shit...

@TheOkham

Yea now they can use this to feed the starving nations of Africa
Rising421 3 months ago
@Rising421 Probably they'll feed the starving billionaires instead, like on Wall Street, who will cook up some reason for US troops to invade.
