the deficit spending he created in his special session is about equal to the deficit Wisconsin faces this year, but it's not technically correct to say that Walker created 2011's deficit. Rather, he added $120 million to the 2011-2013 deficits, and perhaps more in the years after that.
The budget report is working with two time periods simultaneously: 2010-2011, and then 2011-13. The $130 million deficit now projected for 2011 isn't the fault of the tax breaks passed during Walker's special session, though his special session created about $120 million in deficit spending between 2011 and 2013 -- and perhaps more than that, if his policies are extended. That is to say,
Can we do away with exit editing already? It makes it hard to shove in the face of the libtards these statements which contradict their far left blog leaders because if at the end they see those clips, they actually believe them...
All these people are being asked to do is contribute more to their own well-being but they don't wanna. They insist on plundering their neighbors' retirements, their neighbors' savings, instead. These people are pigs!
@happystance7able That does not seem to be the problem from my view, as the unions claim that they had agreed to all of Governor Walker's provisions, save for the collective bargaining. unfortunately Walker said he would refuse negotiations until collective bargaining was eliminated. Is it not contradictory, when you claim to not be receiving negotiation offers to compromise, but refuse to discuss till the other guy gives you all your desires and not giving of theirs before or after the fact?
@TheInterceptor12 There hasn't been a bargaining table at all. Rather, it's been a money laundering scheme. The politicians and public unions sia on the same side of the "table" and the tax payers weren't represented at all. That's not bargaining. It's pillaging; politicians giving union members more tax dollars and then union bosses extracting union dues which get funnelled into the politicians' reelection campaigns. Finally, a politician isn't playing along with that corrupt process.
@happystance7able then show me the evidence that they are corrupt, because I still don't see how trying to get employers to pay a higher wage is seen by others as a bad thing. It should be noted after the now infamous "not really a Koch brother" call incident, Gov Walker doesn't appear to be on a cleaner slate. if we are arguing corruption, then isn't possible that, if neither of us are correct, both sides are stalling for the sake of their own idiocy and/or greed?
@TheInterceptor12 >>then show me the evidence that they are corrupt<<
Go google "union~donations~"to democrats"" e.g. Iowa's government unions contributed $7.2 million to state candidates in the past decade. All but $46,000 went to Democrats, according to the National Institute on Money in State Politics, a nonpartisan group in Montana. That's a money-laundering operation if ever there was one. The tax payers are finally saying HELL NO and they finally have somebody representing them in Walker.
@happystance7able Listen, you did not answer my question still. is it not possible that both sides have stalled and prolonged this debate out of their own idiocy and/or greedy ambitions? its a simple question I'm asking.
@TheInterceptor12 >>is it not possible that both sides have stalled and prolonged this debate out of their own...greedy ambitions<<
All people act in their own self interest. It's finally the case where it is in the self interest of an elected official--Gov Walker--to finally not be a co-conspirator with the government unions in pillaging the taxpayers. That's because the people who elected him are sick and tired of government pillaging the private sector. Private sector umemployment is high.
@happystance7able Well not everything we do is for our self-interest. a good example of this is volunteer work. if what you say is true, then why do people still do work for agencies such as the red cross, the salvation army, or the peace corps when they have very little if anything to profit from?
@TheInterceptor12 >>not everything...is for our self-interest. a good example...is volunteer work<<
Lots of volunteers do what they do out of self-interest. For instance, many volunteers aren't currently in need of money as much as they are in need of connections for future employment opportunities. Many need work experience and things to put on their resume to get into schools or obtain future employment. Others simply don't need money but need to feel useful--still for their self-interest.
@TheInterceptor12 True selfless acts are rare indeed . Soldiers throwing themselves on grenades to save the lives of their comrades; little fleeting acts of random kindness here and there, but only so long as it isn't too expensive for the giver. It does happen, but it's not the norm. Our society doesn't depend on them. The vast majority of things benefitting the needy result despite the intentions of aid providers. They result from voluntary exchange mutually beneficial to all parties involved.
The AVERAGE Salary for s Milwaukee teacher is $105k a year. And this penny pinching Governor is trying to challenge that! What an SOB.! (sarcasm off.)
Those protesters must remember that they are public "servants". They get treated much better than the people they are supposed to be serving.....what is wrong with this picture? Personally, I think it's time that the government make the same tough cuts that the people they are serving have been making.
Taking care of someone's bratty kid isn't a priviledge. lol Educate your own kids if you have a problem. It's no shock, as represenatives drop, so does pay for average workers. Wake up corporate drones.
Limbaugh and FOX brings in millions. Stop scapegoating the REAL problem: wars, greed and non-caring republicans.
@BeginnningoftheEnd Would it be nice to continue paying public "servants"a lot to do the duties they perform? Sure, but fact is fact, we simply cannot afford to keep throwing money at them any more. If these teachers don't like what's going on, they can quit and go find another job. Those of us that don't depend on taxpayer salaries to earn a living are already overburdened and cannot afford it anymore. And are you directing the last comment to me or Rush and Fox News? Because I am neither.....
@BeginnningoftheEnd We already are. The pentagon is making a $78,000,000,000 cut from their budget. This is not the "rich versus the poor" or "the government versus the people" issue, it is simply the issue of "we're already broke and we are living beyond our means". No way around it.
@BeginnningoftheEnd I can see that the liberal propaganda is strong with you. Do you realize that corporations in the US pay the second highest tax rate on earth second only to Japan? You can go to the IRS website and check those numbers yourself. As for the unions....yes, they're helping to rape state economies. Cuts are being made all over and yet these public sector unions do not want to do what all us people in the private sector have to do.
I use to vote republican. I'm from Texas. lol It's diehard-business-is-perfect people like you that woke me up. Business hordes billions that hurts the country far more than pensions, programs etc.
@ReachDeep1 unfortunately I don't think that is necessarily all that true, As a high school student I've known more than my fair share of teachers, and I tend to interact with them better to some extent then most of my peers. From what I've seen many of them are not well compensated, contrary to Walker's statements. I'm from Oklahoma, a state which is far more red than Wisconsin, so perhaps they are better treated than here. but then let me ask you, how well are your teachers treated at work?
@TheInterceptor12 the average teacher salary here in Ohio is just over $51k. That's a lot more than the average private employee makes and teachers only work for 9 months out of the year. It's called public service for a reason and it seems that public employees have forgotten that.
@ReachDeep1 so then why don't they just negotiate that with the unions? I have no doubt the Teachers would still be pissy about their benefits, but I would think the protests would be a lot less active if they had been given reason to believe this can be negotiated. And from what it sounds like this is not the first time he has tried something like this.
walker is a moron.
