oh silly me I had that quite backwards didn't I? This must be one of the older tries. Your stuff lately is so great I fully expected the metal parts were the virtual. Love your stuff dude.
Impressive stuff. The flicking lighting dosnt seem to effect it much.
Makes me wish Microsoft hurrays up with progression on Photosythn, because that sort of tech could give lots of real-world referance models for this sort of tech ;)
Is this software only? i mean do you first take the camera shots and then use a software program to overlay this image? Or is this camera connected to a pc so it can track objects real time (like Asimo with human faces but ofcourse better)?
Yeah for using on live music stage performance he could be very interesting product, im sure you have made the tech part of eye of the jugement for sony ^^, dont ya ?
This kind of markerless tracking is still new and Emmanuel's work at t-immersion is great (maybe expensive too, yes). However AR with markers is pretty easy now, and lots of this stuff is academic research so if you are a bit of a hacker then you can play with AR yourself for free. Google ARToolkit and ARTag to get started and markerless AR to get more advanced :)
You can easily test the limits of markers - good lighting need, no occlusion at all tolerated, etc. - by Googleing lesanimauxdufutur. You will find something to download and test within seconds. Everything is in French on the website but it is rather straightforward.
did u input the green model or did the software generate it???
if it is generation than it's unhumanly cool and applicable!!!!!

would a sonar system work for some of this tracking stuff or would that create too many variables?

Can you see augmented reality through shades that uses cameras? If so, :D. I oughta plan.

The metal object with the t-bars you were pulling out and putting in was all virtual?

Everything but the green lines is real.

The flicking lighting happens mostly because the camera (from the USA) is 60 Hz and the lighting (from an office in France) is 50 Hz !

oh, that makes sense :D
Still, very cool.

It's real time, that's why I can go back when I see the tracking is lost.

Sony's Eye of Judgment relies on little markers, most of my videos don't.

still very good. i wish everyone had access to this software, but given it's performance it's probably rather expensive and "elite" :-/
