this guy doesn't know the flexible regulations and federally funded healthcare research (world leading after the usa) that come out of australia. and a lot of the research done in usa is for things which honestly scientists should be waisting there time on - like researching a cure for baldness instead of malaria

There is a good side and a bad side to everything... with Govt. Health care there should be a drop in all the unnecessary operations done on people just because they have very good insurance. There may also be a limit on how many millions of dollars we will spend on any one person just to keep them alive.

The bad side is ... nothing is free and taxpayers will be taxed to death until they decide to stop working and let the Govt. take care of them...

People will quit being docs. They'll go to Wall Street, to work for the government pushing papers at the Health Care department or run Cash only. Tons of Docs in America are mid 50s and older. Ones with money might just have had enough.

Going to need more Docs and that means less for nations that can't compete. That's free markets but goes against the I'm as or more worried about someone  halfway around the globe than down the street Bullshit you always hear.

Except that now there are more people in the United States demanding health care with the same number of doctors. And if the wages for doctors go down, as you seem to think, doctors stop getting trained at the same rate.

Socialized medicine sucks because if something is perceived as free, people will consume more of it than they would if they had to pay for it. Besides if the governt is going to ration care I dont want to be on the receiving end like every country with socialized medicine.

@Calavicci9 We don't have socialized medicine in this country. Ronald Reagan claimed that medicare would lead to socialized medicine and he was wrong. People get notion that socialized medicine is where the government hires all the doctors and treat you the way they want. This is a misconception. People in the past didn't want immigrants to be covered.
