  • I am inclined to agree with what the poster said...

However, (I think) it is possible that malnutrition will slow down metabolism. For example, people whose poor nutrition inhibits their body from efficiently metabolising fat (into readily usable energy) will be left feeling lethargic day to day, meaning more of their caloric intake is stored rather than used for daily activities...

I cannot speak authoritatively as I have no qualifications (whatsoever), so please feel free to correct me.

  • makes sense

  • This was a very helpful video. After having my 3 kids I seemed to think my metabolism slowed down to be more like another person. Truth be known my Body has slowed down. to the gym I go!

  • I love you.

  • @JanniPink Thanks! I appreciate your nice comment. It's just about telling the truth based on science and common sense. I also have a BlogTalkRadio com show. You can listen there or on iTunes. Search Steve Turano. Recent shows can also be heard on my site home page at the bottom once they upload. You can also listen to archived shows of my Tampa radio show at GreatFatLossPill com. • You're kinda cute...

  • @iloveyourstory what a waste of time. I demand my 1.5 seconds back that I spent on reading this

  • I never got this thing about metabolism, I mean, I eat aloot (really, alot) , and I'm a couch potato, but I'm really skinny.

I don't do any exercise (if anything the flights of stairs at college) and my stamina is lacking.

Why do I have high metabolism?

  • @elpapisimo you don't eat a lot of food you just think you do. Actually take the time to add up all the calories you eat in a day its probably like 2000. A lot of biologically skinny people I have met think they eat a lot but they really don't.

  • omg that is so true, When I was a teenager I was playing Ice Hockey, Martial Arts... ten years later, I sit on my ass watching youtube and I'm 30lbs heavier

  • I have a video explaining that too!

  • hhhmm... my first 50 lbs dropped fast... the last 10 are almost impossible... interesting

  • Listen to the free seminar on the main page of my website.

  • I must say I've never completely understood Metabolism. I also thought a slowing metabolism was due to overall loss of lean muscle mass and lack of aerobic fitness and things related to that.

  • can someone tell me how fast is a teenagers metabolism.

  • The increase in metabolism is why most people find that weight training reduces body fat more easily than doing cardio every day. Doing cardio every day only increases the metabolism during the duration of the cardio. Doing weight traning will increase the metabolism ALL HOURS OF THE DAY as the body tries to build muscle over the next couple of days.

  • I don't know if I agree completely w/ what you said here. I'm sure I read that the reason your metabolism slows down as you get older is because you start to lose muscle mass,

  • this is encouraging thank's!!!!

  • Its true, bad habits really do mess people up. The hardest part is just finding the number of calories you burn in your day and shoot for under it. Sadly, people still drink a lot of their calories and forget to include them in their count among other things.

  • if anybody wants to speed up mr. matabo, try some heavy coffee, i drank a cup, and ran right to the bathroom!

i actually had to stop drinking it because i lost soooo much weight from it, like nine pounds in a week. and skeletans are NOT HOT

  • thanx i thing it going to work for me :)

  • im curious as to why nobody else has asked you this.. im not sure whether youre a personal trainer or not, it seems as though youre quite well educated in this field, but is this a case of hypocricy..? why not practice what you preach in all your videos..? i mean you are a little overweight.. irony ay

  • hes a big guy as you can tell, and he has a movie on here that you can see his physique.

  • lol, he's pretty ripped, just not skinny but built, he has a vid to proove it.

  • I'd like to mention that working out is simply adding to the energy your body needs to survive, or increasing its usage of energy stores. It's not absolutely necessary to get difficult exercise to lose weight... Most people just don't realize how much they actually eat. I have been overweight for a few years, only a few months ago worked out my daily calorie usage and planned a daily 1700 calorie diet (500 calorie deficit). I rarely work out intensely, and am down 15 lbs.

  • Wow! That makes me feel so good that I have not completely screwed up my body!! Thanks!!

  • Thank you! If only the rest of America knew this!!

  • I'm trying. Unfortunately, people seem to get nasty when they hear the truth!

  • legend!

  • Steve, you always seem to come up with stuff I never knew about! Thank you!

  • Glad to hear it. That's my job. Wait until I start giving advice on sex!

  • Did I just hear you correctly? Did you say that your Metabolism Slows down as you get in better shape?

    I didn't know that.

That would explain why fat people lose weight really fast when they first start diet and excersize and then plateu at some point

  • yeah, they drop it fast

  • I've often wondered about all the ephedra I used to take recreationally when I was younger and far stupider. Whether or not that would effect my metabolism today has always been on my mind.

  • "I've often wondered about all the ephedra I used to take recreationally when I was younger and far stupider." Hmmmm...THAT may explain a thing or two! (Bwaaaa, haaaaa, haaaaaa, haaaa!) jk there, SB! :D

  • Never knew that ... I love your videos. Tons of hugs ♥Mel

  • Great message. Another excuse out the window... lol.

    Thanks, Tony.

  • So true, everyone I know says they were in better shape as a teen and when you ask them to think about how active they were they say, well yeah I didn't have a car so I walked or rode my bike AND I was in PE in school. Hmmmm I think there is a parallel there.

  • Thank you Steve

  • great video, thanks

  • yep, bad habits.
