When I was a kid, the junkyard monster used to scare the hell out of me. Even though i knew it was a cartoon and I knew they always won, when he tries to eat through the crane to Peter it used to scare the hell out of me.
I loved this cartoon as a kid, watching it again 20 years later, I can understand why.
Also, this lot better than the Ghostbusters movie, I think. The concept works so much better as a show, with different, strange situations every episode.
And looking at a credits, it seems like this production got help from Japanese animators... probably why some of the visual "effects" look so awesome, and yet the old standards Americans had for animation keeps it in more motion than most anime.
Dude, when Winstin ran for the magnet truck, I thought he had the idea to use the magnet on the ghost! Not whack him with it! At least Peter stubbled on the idea lol. Great episode!
Ok, I know Frank Welker has done a ton of voice acting....but am I crazy or does his Ray Stanz sound like one of this other characters? It sounds really familar, but I cant put my finger on it...
@skedardestroyer He sounds just like Fred Jones from the original Scooby Doo series from the 70's. Peter also sounds like Garfield the Cat. I wonder who did his voice?
@1krani Frank Welker did Ray's voice, and Freds in scooby doo....Peter and Garfield were voiced by Lorenzo Music, which is ironic, cuz Bill Murry did the movie versions of both those characters.
That second incarnation of the steel monster kinda sounds like Peter after he's been slimed :D
I want to know what kind of engine Ecto-1 had, to be able to pull that junkyard magnet plus a few steel girders, an avacado refrigerator, a firemans pole...
Iv Got an Idea!... "Good time for one!" lol eyah no kidding. Great cartoon used to watch this everyday before school when I was a kid. Still like this cartoon
Depends on your definition of "newer." Lost and Foundry was episode 38 out of 140. Or in other words an episode from season 2. So it certainly isnt an "original episode" in terms of air date but then again the very first epiosode, Knock Knock [the series pilot] was not introduced as a regular episode until number 53. So its hard to define exactly what the "old ones are"
Just as I thought, the parts turn into monsters ( combine ). I`m really brainy!

[Ray crushes the monster.]
Peter: "All right! Way to go, Ray! I don't know what we'd do without ya!"
[Monster reforms.]
Peter: "... But I guess we'd think of something."

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Nothing like cartoons saying Ecto-1 can pull a salvage crane in tow. Ecto-1 would blow it's transmission, engine and rear axle.

why do people keep bashing new jersy in this show? what do they have against it?!?

My guess is it's a joke. They're making fun of the rivalry between New Yorkers
and the people from New Jersey.

yes...YES! That's it! Man, that was driving me crazy. You are right though, he does sound like Fred.
Eh, Ray Stanz is much cooler than that hippy though. He fights REAL ghosts.

The oldest ones to me are the ones where Egon's voice was way deeper like in Knock Knock, Slimer, Come Home & Ghosts 'R' Us.
But there weren't that many like that before Maurice LaMarche settled into the role.
