Its indie... Indie isnt exactly a genre. Its a label. Their not signed to major labels or anything.

Well then they are just unsigned, an unsignes skate-punk band, but call it indie if you want. Indie rock does have a special sound, The Libertines(UK), The Cribs(UK), The Fratellis(UK), The Villains(SWE) listen to that and you will hear that those bands have similar sounds. :)

no indie is actually a music style. it can mean unsigned. but its is also a type of music. and this is very much so pop punk.

Well in all technicality it just means an unsigned band. I mean what can "indie" mean in terms of music anyways? I just see it attached to really lame mopey alternative rock bands like Death Cab for Cutie :|

No it really is a music style. Look in to it. Whether or not you like death cab, they are in the genre. In music, term means like unconventional. To think out side of your conventional music styles. Most of the time mixing theses styles in different ways. Its like alternative alternative rock. But really, it doesn't matter.

I went there last week..staying in tokyo for 2 months. most of the bands there seemed to playing their own material, and they seem pretty good. Also it's cool that none of these people arent playing for money..they just do it because they like it.

i really like listening japanese bands somewhere in Minato Mirai i had watched an indie band there I just can't remember the name of the band but they play like a professional band they have the talents maybe they must sign in a record company... they're great... Minnasama, Gambatte Kudasai...
