@91sach@XHORNBYX yes, they indeed can live together. I don't think they have to be fully grown, but it's best for the neons to be fully grown, so the guppy doesn't eat them. But the guppy does not have to be fully grown: it has to be at least 2/3 the size of the biggest neon in your tank. The neon may attempt to eat the guppy if it is small enough.
HOW DO U EVEN FEED NEON TETRAS? every time i put fish food in it just stays at the surfacce and my tetras just sit there and die off one by one. I read online that sinking the flakes would help, but my tetras still won't eat! Now there's only 1 left. ORIGINAL ITEMS: 4 neon tetras in a 3 gallon tank. <----- I think the problem is that the tank is too small, or that the tetras are eating, it's just that I can't see it.
I think the main reason fish school is because of the theory "protection in numbers". It doesn't look like there is an opposing fish there to keep the neons on their toes so they feel lax and don't school.
They might be a little stressed out or maybe not used to the tank. Neon Tetra Disease could be the reason, too. The best thing to do is to take out some of the fish that keep on chasing the others. Also, this is not mating behavior. Only live-bearers do that.
This may be kind of late but i have read/experienced this and they are a schooling fish. When they get used to there tank (which they look like they have) they tend to not school. But when you have different fish species that keep the neons on there toes thats when they school.
Can tetra and guppy live in one tank?

with a schooling fish there is a dominate fish. They are not fighting but only debating who is the leader.
