Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
this concept of a forbidden romance between two people of rival groups is not something original made up by disney. for one thing, there never even was a real romance between john smith and pocahontas. james cameron ripped no one off, the concept is something even older than shakespeare's romeo and juliet(a forbidden romance everyone uses anyways). disney and james cameron came up with different versions of the same idea. a secret romance between two people of rival families that hate eachother.
If you enjoyed Avatar, i also recommend more similar movies: Willow, Castle in The Sky (aka Laputa), My Neighbor Totoro, Heavy Metal, Fantastic Planet, Wizards, LightYears (Gandahar), Serenity, Starchaser Legend of Orin and Last of the Mohicans.
I wonder if they showed the Na'vi scalping or cutting out the heart of their fallen enemies, will people still have the same sympathy for them? Much like with the film Apocalypto, I bet people hated the Aztecs and when Cortez came with the Conquistadors, I don't think people would care that much or feel much sympathy if the Spaniards start killing the Aztecs after seeing them cut the hearts out of hundreds of people as sacrifice.
@Assault912 - RDA being a corporation and not the military are not allowed to have nukes, and have limited military power compared to other of Earth's armed forces. Oh and I don't think tanks would work very well in the dense jungles of Pandora.
@CrimsonGuard1992 What do you mean by tanks won't work, ever heard of siege tanks? Also their siege walkers suck, they should use thors. They don't have battlecruisers, which can fire yamato cannon. They don't have space marines and marauders, nor fire bats. No medivacs. Etc ect...
@Assault912 - Look kid lets face reality and not a video game based reality. Bec. of the thick jungle a tank's mobility is restricted and would not be able to go very far. The walkers don't suck, they are flexible and work well in a jungle environment. Think of them as mechanized infantry. Basically this is almost like vietnam, in which mobility is the main thing here in such an environment as most conventional land assets like tanks or other armored units can't move through the jungle.
@CrimsonGuard1992 100 zerglings or 50 hydralisks can pwn the entire Pandora. Siege tanks are not normal tanks, they are very fast and fires powerful. THey also don't have vultures, wraiths. They need protoss carriers, etc. Protoss > Na'vi, Zerg > Na'vi, Terran > Na'vi. This is reality
So two alien races that have pretty much been bred for war would win against Na'vi who use sticks and stones relatively? And one human faction that has a habit of throwing small nukes across the battlefield at a whim? Yea thats kind of a no brainer, the RDA lost as Crimson stated because they are not a military force, they did not have the military strength to wage prolonged conflict, hence the reason they wanted to devastate and end the threat quickly with a big makeshift bomb.
@Assault912 - Dude do not compare Avatar to Starcraft. A siege tank will not be able move through the trees, foliage, ups and downs in the environment. You try driving a tank in the amazon rain forest and you will get what I am saying. It is to cumbersome to use tanks in such terrain. Also don't talk about vultures, wraiths, banshees, or motherships. Such tech does not exist in this universe, so you are limited by the weapons they have.
I agree and you never realize the meaning of these songs and the seriousness untill you grow up:)like in cat in the hat,i didnt realize when he meant when he said"you dirty hoe...im sorry baby i loooove you".made it so much funneyer:)))
Not familiar with Nausicaa or Princess Mononke. But no I would not compare it to Dune or Star Wars, though I'm not sure in what sense you are meaning. Dune holds a rather special place in my heart, and I'm just not sure how Avatar or Star Wars would compare, both are good movies in their own rights.
Well cameron did also borrowed from Dune because both Avatar and Dune have strangers from another world into a new planet then gets left behind as that man falls in love with an alien girl then joins up with a tribe of alien warriors, the man goes through tests of manhood to become one of the people even by riding a wild beast, becomes one of the people and makes his new people rebel against a corporation exploiting a precious substance, it's Dune with trees
Well the forest introduction where he meets Neytiri and the the seeds of enwy are on him was much like when Willow Urfgood met the forest spirit and the fairies and there's also the viper-wolves being much of a repitilian esque version of the killer hounds etc. but did you know Cameron wrote Avatar in 1993 before Pocahontas, he wanted to film it after Titanic for a 1999 date but decided to put it in a drawer until technology does justice and satisfies his vision
Forgot about that part, its been ages since I've seen willow, really need to watch it again. Though if my fuzzy memory recalls, didn't he meet the fairies after being captured by the tiny people?
The Pocahontas story has been around a lot longer than Disney's Pocahontas, hence the reason why its considered Pocahontas in space. But yea I knew that he had written Avatar a long while back and was basically sitting on it until he thought movie tech would be able to do it justice.
It would be possible though I think it would lose some of the effect due to it putting both sides out of place so to speak. An interesting idea though I might have to do it eventually just to see how it turns out.
Well the Soundtrack does consider them two seperate songs, understandable though, I figured since the tune changes quite abit that I should give it a brief pause to indicate the change.
to me avatar is a mix of the 2 disney movies pocahontas and atlantis the lost empire. Anyone else see the connection?
