@icheer4les09 She's had some pretty tough competition over the years: Lee Ann Womack, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood. Those are some tough acts to beat. But I was just happy that she won this one.
Sara is a pretty humble person. Her reaction to winning shows the kind of person she is. Her voice live in concert is just as good as her albums too. Check her out sometime if you get a chance, you won't be disappointed.
haha, man, an award that carrie underwood actually didnt win!!
glad carrie didnt win, but wish it woulda been gretchen that got it...
and its funny that sara evans and gretchen wilson were nominated together, and they played coalmine when sara won it cause back in the days before gretchens record deal, she sang demos, and coalmine was one of them!!
yea carrie is more accepted in the pop world but in the last year i think carrie has gotten a lot more props in the country world in the past year especially winning Entertainer of ther year this month
@wowthunder92 I disagree that Carrie is the best; as a pure singer I would not even put her in the top 5. Her voice is actually somewhat thin at times; it is really not as rich and pure and resonating as Sara's or Martina's or LeAnn's. And actually, I would say that, when it comes to all-around talent (musical and singing ability), the best female country singer out there right now is Miranda Lambert. Another one who is very underrated, but really quite a brilliant singer, is Jessica Andrews.
@trwent no offense but you are in a small number of people who think that. Carrie is constantly getting raive reviews and comments about her vocals. Carrie outshines her peers vocally by a country mile. I will agree with you that Miranda is a great artist overall but so is Carrie. 4 years ago or so I wouldnt say that but Carrie has come a long way as a writer and performer. Miranda still very much lacks stage presence.

I really wish the ACM's and all other country music awards shows for that matter would start giving the awards to people who deserve them again. Like Martina, Sara, Leann...etc. Enough with this Carrie business she's good but not that good.
i agree. but why does it appear (and i could be wrong) that country singers are not as warmed up to carrie underwood, as opposed to rock/pop stars who have had to share the limelight with daughtry, kelly clarckson, jordin sparks, etc?
it just seems that carrie is not accepted as much into the country world vs. the pop world.
I don't know about that but I know i'm just tired of seeing her everywhere and people thinking that is the most amazing thing to hit this earth. I don't have anything against Carrie its mostly what has become of the industry.
well i can't really have an opinion on it because i don't follow country music too much. i do support it when i can, and go to some concerts. but, i know i'm not the only one (of my circle of friends) who has mentioned, especially after the faith hill incident, how it "appears" that a lot of the country past and present stars are not as warmed up to carrie...it's like they have a chip on their shoulder with her. but, like i said, i'm not really sure what goes on behind the scenes.
I wouldn't even get started on the Faith incident because there was no incident. From what i've seen country past doesn't have a problem with Carrie. I can see why they might though. Just take the opry channel here for example, who do they have on their banner for the channel? Carrie. Yes it's great that there is new talent coming into country music and that they are bringing new fans to country but they can't disregard all the past artist who were there before them. I'm not saying
wait a minute..i'm not one who looks for something that's not there...but i dont' think faith has an excuse that will justify her actions...that's like chris brown saying he didn't hit rihanna. we all saw it!
on the other note...we can move this discussion elsewhere i guess lol, but i just wanted to say i get how country has changed...but you can't hold on to the past! just like michael jackson will never be the king of pop anymore...carrie is the new face, and maybe she should be? idk
Obviously you don't know the whole thing with the Faith incident so i'm not going to bring it up here. Holding on to the past has nothing to do with it it's about respecting the past which isn't happening. Just because a new artist comes out it doesn't make the past artist disapear especially when they are still current and releaseing great music that noone get's to hear because radio, awards, and the industry is shoving the new artist in our face.
But it's in no way her fault! She just works hard, and because she's the big thing right now they're running it into the ground. I am one of her biggest fans, but I agree that they need to take it easy or they are going to kill her career.. people get sick of anyone they see too much of, I hate to say it. I wouldn't get sick of her, but i'm afraid others will.. She's still a very good artist, though and she does deserve everything she's gotten but yea, I do kind of miss Sara, Martina, etc..
Carrie didn't deserve to win - still doesn't. No two bit grade b karoke singer like her deserves this award which used to be an honor. We all know Martina deserves this every year but Sara is great and I was happy for her win.
I was bawling my EYES out when that happened! I wanted Martina to win really, but when Sara won I was SO happy for her! I cried right along with her. :)
First of all, THE DUMBEST MAN ON THE PLANET, her ex-husband Craig. Sara Evans is way over due to have recieved an award like this. Way to go Sara!! Most beautiful woman in country music.
Nice job! Did you know that Sara is going to be performing at the 2007 Sunday in the Country, which will be held at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on Sunday, 07/29/07? Also scheduled to perform will be Trace Adkins, Phil Vassar, Terri Clark, Mark Wills, and Jake Owen. Tickets are available on the Ticketmaster website.
Aww that speech was soo sweet..I love her singing, she deserved it, heck practically all the nominees deserved that award.. But i'm Glad Sarah finally got It!
ahhh! I cried when she won last year, she deserved it more than anyone, and she deserved it at the last acm's, but considering sara's new single "As If", this is definantly her year! i love sara!
When i was a disc jockey 10 years ago I fell in love with Sara's music immediately, unfortunately she never got the airtime she deserved for a few years (except No Place That Far) until Born To Fly, and I am glad to see that the country music community finally recognized her talent and her music. Sara Evans has a sound like no other and deserves this award, now she needs the CMA!!! Go Sara!

Carrie Underwood probably has one of the best vocals in music today and def the top vocalist for country music...
obviously martina is great too but she has kinda fell out of the public eye where as carrie hasnt
im sorry but carrie is great and deserves everything she gets and does
if someone is everywhere than its taylor swift..who is everywhere but cant sing..no offense but just saying
