I didn't buy Pablo Honey until after OK Computer, and while I never got into it as much as OKC or Bends, it had some stand-out moments. This song was always especially sad to me. I was in a failing relationship at the time, and this song seems to speak to that denial you're in when you know it's ending but don't want to believe it.
I may see this wrong, but I get a sense that this song was written from someone who isn't really strong. It sounds like they're trying to convince the one that left (and/or themselves) that it's better now, but really they are missing a part of themselves without that other person. It's like if you hear someone saying "I'm really okay" over and over again, chances are they aren't.
@willzer808 I don't remember writing that. Apologies for the bad language. It must be related to the fact that he used to work for the Samaritans...or something! I'm not sure where I was coming from either - marvellous song though. I still really enjoy Pablo Honey
@Monumentum616 No worries at all! I liked the comment for what it is in itself. Just seemed a bit off the wall, which is good sometimes. I used to have pablo honey and the bends on a cassette. One on side A, the other on B. And I used to listen to them all the time. I got the CDs after that, but I miss those days. I guess when you are younger it is always that bit more exciting and fresh. Their newer stuff is still good, but it no longer gets me as it used to..
I've been a Radiohead fan for years and I own all their Albums, I love this albuum it truly shows just how their music has progressed over the years and how talented this band is. Currently this a favorite of mine, just a great pick me up kind of song.
I'm a bigger Bends fan on the whole but the atonal guitars at the end of Lurgee that come out of nowhere had me at hello when I was 20 and listening to this for the first time long, long ago. My favorite Radiohead song by a mile. This might be a stretch but if you like the end of this song (and I'm not talking about dopey lyrics here- the music) try Accident Prone by Jawbreaker from the same time period. Or the end of So. omg, can everybody just stop sayin Kid a and Amnesiac are emo albums. And that thom yorke had an depression in that time. Kid a and Amnesiac are amazin and beautifull albums. Just hard to understand even for radiohead fans. But it is far from anythin like depressive or emo. Its just sometimes sad but its really really beautifull
Just because you don't understand it, doesn't make it shit. Many consider Kid A to be Radiohead's best album. No, it's not for everyone (what is?), but it's still fucking great.
@redkopite4life i used to think idioteque was good til i sorted me head out, losing bunker, women and children foster children and all that shit, id rather go to town and watch sum tramp sing plinky plink on his cardboard guitar, and as 4 everything in its right place, even when i was a massive fan that song was shit. yesterday i woke up suckin a lemon. wtf is that all about? radiohead used to be special and now theyve just sunk into mediocrity. in other words theyre shit
Fair enough, Radiohead have something for everyone, as long as you like some of their music I can't criticise you. Everything In Its Right Place is about Thom Yorke's depression between OK Computer and Kid A in which he had a writing block. "Yesterday I woke up sucking a lemon" - I believe this refers to the taste in his mouth when he thinks of what will happen in the day ahead of him (nothing). I'd say Radiohead have matured since the 90s, In Rainbows is beautiful. We're
Not likely to get another The Bends or OK Computer but thats not to say In Rainbows isn't great (It's probably my second favourite album of theirs). All I Need, Weird Fishes, Reckoner. Bodysnatchers, Jigsaw Falling Into Place and Videotape are all awesome. Don't get me wrong, OK Computer is untouchable and I still like Pablo Honey (especially Lurgee) but I still try their newer stuff, and it is good, it just takes longer to get into, especially Kid A.
I made a song the other day, and then I sketched it, so I came up with a "music video" LOL I'd like you all to check it out and tell me what you think. it's a cartoon with some harsh lyrics. I'd like to get some feedback on that.
People can say this song is "ironic" or whatever, but it makes me feel better. :) Reminds you that when you leave messed up people things can change for the better.
I'm not a huge Radiohead fan but this is my favorite song by them. Its strange that I'm not crazy about them since I'm obsessed with Oasis and The Verve. oh well, as long as I hate Ke$ha that makes everything ok
this is smartest irony .. Have to be stupid to think this is the song for ''world peace''' half full glass sht .. ''oh yeah i got strong ..'' >>>wtf..
I love the 'Demo Version' of the "Motion Picture Soundtrack" song from "Kid A". "Pablo Honey" is the only Radiohead album I don't own, nor really have an interest in getting.
I prefer not to think of this song as depressing, but more as uplifting. Everyone goes through breakups, but you've got to pick up the pieces. It gives a sense of optimism, like now things will be okay.
This song is supposed to try to empower the listener. I like the fact this song looks on the upside, the glass was half full. A rare moment in Radiohead history.
Anyone can call a song primitive. But, it does what they were trying to do.
No extra notes, no extra nonsense, it did the job. It is what is it is. A song that says "I got strong." A powerful message. Primitive yeah, power oh yeah.
it's obvious that this is a denial song. he says that he "feels better, got strong", but in reality, he still loves her so much, and that he can't live without her. a simple song with very powerful meaning.
i love radiohead, and this is probably one of my personal favorite tracks off of Pablo Honey, and one of their most emotional songs.
The most depressive song on Pablo Honey. Sure, songs like How to Disappear Completely and Motion Picture Soundtrack are way more depressive, but this is depressive in it's own way.
i think it's about those times where you just can't take it anymore, and you wish you would simply disappear... you feel disconnected ("i'm not here" "walk through walls") and you try to avoid what surrounds you...
the "i'm not here" theme was used by thom in the 98 tours where he just couldn't take it anymore...
that's what i think, anyway... you can interpret it any way you like
Yes the line "im not here, this isnt happening" is from a phone call from Michael stipe, he told Thom to tell those words to himself, because thom was very depressed, thats why its a song about escaping that, you understand? :P
no way, listen to the lyrics not just the music, they may sound bleak but nothing is as depressing as Street Spirit, its the ultimate downer- the futility of life and inevitable death

hey ricardoermm I meant Positve for you!!!! I am the biggest radiohead fan In North Carolina!!!! I meant a good comment!!! I'm a little bit tippsy!!! apalogize!!!
this fucking song is the best of this fucking album, the best of this fucking band, the best of the last fucking 100 years!! . . . I love fucking Radiohead, they are fucking awesome !!
HUmm I'm sorry? Let Down is one hell of a song, it has that melancolic but confortable feeling to it by the fresh guitars and the honesty in Thoms voice
I think the reason this album is underated is that its a lot different to the other albums especially from Ok computer onwards. These songs are more catchy and normal. Where in later albums they branch off into their own style
i like their later cds better. the songs from honey are good but not as unique as say the songs from ok computer or in rainbows. they did what a lot of bands dont, moved forward for the best
I dedicate this song to that dude I spent 7 years of my life with who just gave up and walked away.
Thanks.

Let Down is one of the worst songs on the Radiohead catalogue

Actually that would be "Creep."
Huge Radiohead fan. Been since Pablo Honey. They got me all through high school and adulthood.
Can't wait to see what the future holds.

HUmm I'm sorry? Let Down is one hell of a song, it has that melancolic but confortable feeling to it by the fresh guitars and the honesty in Thoms voice
Mygalej 3 years ago
How dare you! Let Down is my favorite Radiohead song.

I think the reason this album is underated is that its a lot different to the other albums especially from Ok computer onwards. These songs are more catchy and normal. Where in later albums they branch off into their own style

Thank you bobby...

This is personally, the greatest anthem ever written, dedicated to making someone feel better when they are sad or angry.

i like their later cds better. the songs from honey are good but not as unique as say the songs from ok computer or in rainbows. they did what a lot of bands dont, moved forward for the best
