  • This is Umbanda. The "devil" is Exu that opens the crossroads to the spirit world. Umbanda offers flowers, dresses mostly in white and protects against witchcraft. Macumba offers blood, dresses in black/red, and is witchcraft. Macumba is a Congo diaspora tradition, a cousin of Palo Mayombe. They work with Exu, who in Congo is called Nzasi, the dark deity that was first worshiped by them. Pomba Gira (bon bon gee rah) is the female Exu. Salve Exu!
